Arbetets ansats är öka förståelsen för vad svenska ungdomar möter när de råkat utför en allvarlig händelse och söker professionell hjälp. Arbetet berör juridiskbakgrund, det sociala arbetets organisation och närvarande faktorer i mötet mellansocialarbetare och klient. Vidare berörs hur individen påverkas av att mötasocialarbetare utifrån symbolisk interaktionism och stämplingsteorin. Genom enenkätundersökning undersöks hur stor svenska ungdomars kännedom omtystnadsplikt och anmälningsplikt är och om det finns könsskillnader i dennamedvetenhet. Enkätundersökningen utgår framförallt ifrån svensk stad med cirka30.000 invånare i kommunen. En central fråga i arbetet är om det finns ungdomarsom upplevt anmälningsplikten som ett hinder för att söka professionell hjälp.The attempt of the essay is to increase the understanding for what Swedish youthcome across when they seek professional help after having been faced with aserious incident. The essay also touches upon juridicial background, theorganization of the social work, and the present elements in the encounterbetween social worker and client. Further it is discussed how the individual isaffected by the meeting of the social worker out of symbolic interactionism andlabelling theory. A opinion poll investigates the extent of knowledge of theSwedish youth in regard to professional secrecy and the obligation to report andwhether there are gender differences in this awareness. The results of the surveymainly comes from a Swedish town with a population of about 30 000 in thedistrict. A central question is if there are youth who have experienced theobligation to report as an obstruction for seeking professional help.
