Bakgrund: Antalet migranter världen över har de senaste åren ökat. För migranterna är anpassningen till det nya landet en process och att lära sig landets språk är krävande och tar tid. Migranter som ännu inte lärt sig språket upplever samtal som sker i vården som särskilt utmanande. Patienter med migrationsbakgrund upplever att kommunikationen brister och att sjuksköterskorna inte alltid tar tid till att prata utan istället väljer att enbart utföra sina arbetsuppgifter. Syfte: Att belysa sjuksköterskors upplevelser av att kommunicera med patienter som talar ett annat modersmål. Metod: En litteraturöversikt har gjorts baserad på elva vetenskapliga artiklar hämtade från databaserna CINAHL Complete och PubMed. Nio artiklar var kvalitativa, en kvantitativ samt en med mixad metod där endast den kvalitativa delen använts i resultatet. Artiklarna analyserades med hjälp av Fribergs analysmetod och tematiseras med färgkodning. Ur detta bildades fyra teman. Resultat: Resultatet visade att bra kommunikation är betydande för att skapa en god vårdrelation. Vidare indikerade resultatet att det fanns delade meningar kring upplevelser av att använda kroppsspråk eller tolk för att enklare kommunicera med patienter som talar ett annat språk än sjuksköterskorna. Det visade sig även i resultatet att brister i kommunikationen kan få konsekvenser i vårdandet. Diskussion: I metoddiskussionen framkommer styrkor och svagheter i författarnas tillvägagångssätt. Författarna diskuterar hur kommunikationssvårigheter bidrar till att en jämlik vård är svår att upprätthålla. Vidare diskuteras resultatet med anknytning till Leiningers transkulturella omvårdnadsteorin. / Background: The number of migrants worldwide has increased in recent years. For migrants, adapting to the new country is a process and learning the language of the country is demanding and takes time. Migrants who have not yet learned the language experience conversations that occur in health care as particularly challenging. Patients with a migration background feels that communication is lacking and that the nurses do not always take the time to talk, instead they only choose to perform their working tasks. Aim: To elucidate nurses' experiences of communicating with patients who speak a different native language. Method: A literature review was made based on eleven scientific articles collected from the databases CINAHL Complete and PubMed. Nine articles were qualitative, one quantitative and one with mixed methods where only the qualitative part was used in the result. The articles were analyzed with Friberg’s method and thematised using colour coding. From this, four themes were formed. Results: The result showed that good communication is important for creating a good care relationship. The results indicated that there are shared opinions about experiences of using body language or interpreter to more easily communicate with patients who speak a language other than the nurses. It was also found in the result that communication deficiencies can have consequences in care. Discussion: In the method discussion the authors discuss the method strengths and weaknesses in the authors’ approach. The authors discuss how communication difficulties contributes to equal care. Further the authors discussed the result related to Leiningers transcultural nursing theory.
