Previous issue date: 2016-02-29 / The reality we are experiencing today, about the increase in the elderly population and its impacts arising from this phenomenon in the various fields of society, proven and discussed by academic and scientific society, is an important factor in understanding the concept of successful aging, Risk of diseases and their physical and mental integrity, in addition to their guaranteed rights, thus being interested in the issue of violence against the elderly, using the theoretical framework of Theory of Social Representations as a tool in the identification of cognitive, affective, social aspects And symbolic of the knowledge of common sense, through social communication and interaction, allows the expression of individuals' positions on this phenomenon in the context where they are inserted. In this sense, the study aimed to know the social representations about violence against the elderly in various age groups. It is an exploratory study, with a quantitative-qualitative approach, carried out with 150 subjects of both sexes, located in the city of João Pessoa-PB / Brazil. From this research two articles were presented in the results. The first article sought to characterize the production of national health articles, in the temporal cut of the last 5 years, available in the LILACS database of the Virtual Health Library, using as keywords the words: "violence and elderly"; And "social representations and violence". Of the 108 units found, 59 units were considered in the first descriptor, and in the second descriptor 21 units were found and only 19 units were evaluated, using the Social Representation Theory in their investigations , For both descriptors, those that met the established inclusion criteria were analyzed: articles in Portuguese, available in full and mentioning the expressions according to the descriptors, either in the title or in the abstract. The second article sought to apprehend the social representations about violence against the elderly in various age groups. This is an exploratory study, with a quantitative-qualitative approach. At the beginning of this study, the Free Words Association Technique was formed by the term "violence against the elderly". Then a positioning table regarding the types of violence and the sociodemographic questionnaire, where the data were processed by the software Iramuteq version 0.7 alpha 2 and Statistical Package for Social Sciences version 2.0 and analyzed in light of Theory of Social Representations. The results of the study show the construction of social representations about violence against the elderly, so it is important to highlight other psychosocial conditions related to the demographic distribution of the symbolic repertoire referring to the object represented, according to some groups of society, to produce and communicate a knowledge / practice About the violence committed to this population, and finally, in view of these images, or representations, end up supporting social practices. It is hoped that this study contributes to the professionals subsidizing the strengthening of public policies aimed at the elderly population / A realidade vivenciada hoje, sobre o aumento da população idosa e seus impactos decorrentes desse fenômeno nos diversos campos da sociedade, comprovada e discutida pela sociedade acadêmica e científica, denota ser um fator importante à compreensão do conceito de envelhecimento bem-sucedido, cujo envolve baixo risco de doenças e da sua integridade física e mental, além dos seus direitos garantidos, sendo assim o interesse pela temática da violência contra o idoso, utilizando o referencial teórico da Teoria das Representações Sociais como uma ferramenta na identificação dos aspectos cognitivos, afetivos, sociais e simbólicos do conhecimento do senso comum, através da comunicação e interação sociais, permite a expressão de posicionamentos dos indivíduos sobre esse fenômeno no contexto onde esses estão inseridos. Nesse sentido o estudo objetivou conhecer as representações sociais sobre violência contra o idoso em diversas faixas etárias. Trata-se de um estudo de caráter exploratório, com abordagem quanti-qualitativa, realizado com 150 sujeitos de ambos os sexos, localizado na cidade de João Pessoa-PB/Brasil. Desta pesquisa foram originados dois artigos apresentados nos resultados. O primeiro artigo buscou caracterizar a produção de artigos nacionais em saúde, no recorte temporal dos últimos 5 anos, disponíveis na base de dados LILACS da Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde, usando como descritores as palavras: violência e idoso ; e representações sociais e violência . Trata-se de um estudo descritivo, desenvolvido na perspectiva da bibliometria, Das 108 unidades encontradas, no primeiro descritor foram consideradas 59 unidades, sendo no segundo descritor 21 unidades encontradas e avaliadas apenas 19 unidades, cujo utilizaram a Teoria das Representações Sociais em suas investigações, para ambos os descritores, foram analisadas aquelas que contemplavam os critérios de inclusão estabelecidos: artigos em português, disponíveis na íntegra e que mencionassem as expressões de acordo com os descritores, seja no título ou no resumo. O segundo artigo buscou apreender as representações sociais sobre violência contra o idoso em diversas faixas etárias. Trata-se de um estudo exploratório, de abordagem quanti-qualitativa, neste analisou-se de início a Técnica de Associação Livre de Palavras, formado pelo termo indutor violência contra o idoso em seguida uma tabela de posicionamento frente aos tipos de violência e o questionário sociodemográfico, onde os dados foram processados pelos softwares Iramuteq versão 0.7 alfa 2 e Statistical Package for the Social Sciences versão 2.0 e analisados à luz da Teoria das Representações Sociais. Os resultados do estudo apresentam a construção das representações sociais sobre a violência contra o idoso, portanto é importante salientar outras condições psicossociais relacionadas à distribuição demográfica do repertório simbólico referente ao objeto representado, segundo alguns grupos da sociedade, para produzir e comunicar um conhecimento/prática sobre a violência cometida a essa população, e, enfim, tendo em vista essas imagens, ou representações, acabam por sustentar as práticas sociais. Espera-se que este estudo contribua para os profissionais subsidiando o fortalecimento das políticas públicas voltadas a população idosa.
