Orientador: Nayara Hakime Dutra Oliveira / Resumo: Esta pesquisa busca conhecer o trabalho social realizado pelos assistentes sociais das duas unidades do Centro de Referência Especializado de Assistência Social (CREAS) do município de Franca/SP que atendem a famílias sob o risco de terem o poder familiar destituído. O método de análise eleito foi o materialismo históricodialético, que permite a apreensão das contradições do movimento do real e busca enxergar além do que se vê de imediato na essência das coisas. A pesquisa foi do tipo documental, bibliográfica e de campo, com a realização de grupo focal com as profissionais assistentes sociais do CREAS Centro e do CREAS Moema, para a obtenção dos dados. O capítulo I traz uma caracterização da cidade onde a pesquisa se realizou, os detalhes da coleta de dados, o perfil das participantes e a metodologia adotada. No capítulo II, a pesquisa discorre sobre a origem do termo poder familiar, substituto do antigo pátrio poder, expondo o caminho percorrido no tempo histórico desde 450 a.C. Também faz referência ao que se entende por famílias abandonadas e às principais expressões da questão social por elas vivenciadas, como insegurança habitacional e alimentar, desemprego, doenças, violência intrafamiliar e estrutural. Por fim, apresenta os dados coletados no grupo focal sobre o trabalho profissional com essas famílias, explicitando as falas das participantes da pesquisa e realizando breves análises. (Resumo completo, clicar acesso eletrônico abaixo) / Abstract: This research seeks to know the social work carried out by the social workers of the two units of the Specialized Referral Center for Social Assistance (CREAS), in the city of Franca / SP, which serve families who are in the process of having their family power destitute. The method of analysis chosen was historical-dialectical materialism, which allows the apprehension of the contradictions of the movement of the real and seeks to see beyond what is immediately seen, in the essence of things. The research was documentary, bibliographical and field with the accomplishment of a focal group with the social assistants of CREAS Centro and CREAS Moema, to obtain the data. Chapter I, presents a characterization of the city where the research was carried out, the details of the data collection, the profile of the participants and the methodology adopted. In chapter II, the research discusses the origin of the term family power, substitute of the old patria power, counting the way traveled in historical time from 450 BC Also makes reference to what is meant by abandoned families and the main expressions of the social question by them such as housing and food insecurity, unemployment, diseases, intrafamily and structural violence, and finally presents the data collected in the focus group on the professional work with these families, exposing the participants' speeches and conducting brief analyzes.
