Det blir idag allt mer viktigt med kulturella erfarenheter i byggbranschen, då svenska byggföretag i allt större utsträckning arbetar med internationella aktörer. Utländska beställare, entreprenörer och konsulter etablerar sig på den svenska marknaden. Ett mångkulturellt projekt kan ge upphov till svårigheter som kulturkrockar, bristande kommunikation och skilda affärssätt och arbetsmetoder. Konsekvenserna av detta kan leda till försenade projekt i kombination med kostnadsökningar och ett icke tillfredställande klimat hos involverade aktörer. I detta examensarbete analyseras upphandlingsprocessen i Projekt X ur ett mångkulturellt perspektiv. Projekt X innefattar rivning och nybyggnad av en av Sveriges största bankverksamheters kontor i Stockholms innerstad. I projektet finns fyra olika nationaliteter representerade. Projektets beställare är ett amerikanskt investeringsbolag som för första gången upphandlar en entreprenad på svensk mark. Huvudentreprenör i projektet är NCC Construction Sverige AB som i sitt team, förutom svenska tjänstemän, även har en kanadensisk projektledare. Projektet har även två olika projektledarföretag med svensk respektive engelsk nationalitet. Examensarbetets syfte är att i Projekt X öka förståelsen för respektive kulturs arbetsmetoder under en upphandlingsprocess. Syftet är även att skapa förutsättningar för ett genomförande av förbättringsåtgärder i projektets samarbete. Målet med studien är således att kartlägga vilka områden som upplevts som problematiska bland involverade aktörer under denna tidsperiod. Målet är även att belysa markanta skillnader i upphandlingsprocessens affärsteg och arbetsmetoder mellan Sverige, USA och England baserat på Projekt X. Metoder som använts för att uppnå detta har varit litteratur-, enkät-, intervjustudier. Slutsatsen av studien visar att upphandlingsprocessen i Sverige, USA och England skiljer sig åt på flera plan vad gäller bland annat prissättningsmetod, beslutsprocesser och detaljnivån på handlingar. De mest framträdande områden med utvecklingspotential var kommunikation, förståelsen för motpartens kultur, relation, förtroende och implementeringen av partnering. / It is becoming increasingly important with cultural experience in the construction industry. Swedish construction companies are more often working with international stakeholders. Foreign clients, contractors and consultants establish themselves on the Swedish market. In multicultural projects, difficulties may arise because of culture clashes, lack of communication and different business practices and working methods. The consequences of this can lead to delayed projects in combination with rising costs and a non-satisfying climate. It is important to establish good working methods when many cultures are working in the same project. In this thesis Project X are analyzed from a multicultural perspective in the procurement process. Project X includes demolition and new construction of one of the largest banking operations' office in the center of Stockholm. In this project four different nationalities are represented. The project was ordered by an U.S. investment company which for the first time procured a contract in Sweden. The contractor in the project is NCC Construction Sverige AB which in their team, except the Swedish officials, has a Canadian project manager. The project also has two different project management companies with Swedish and English nationalities. The aim of this study is to gain a better understanding of how involved parties work in the procurement process. The aim is also to create conditions for implementation of improvements in the projects collaboration. The objective of this study is therefore to identify the areas that have been experienced as problematic among the actors involved in this period. The objective is also to highlight the marked differences of business practices and working methods in the procurement process between Sweden, the U.S. and the U.K. based on Project X. Methods used to achieve this has been literature-, survey,- and interview studies. The conclusion of this study shows that the procurement process in Sweden, the U.S. and the U.K. are different on many levels for example pricing methods, the decision-making processes and the level of details in the documents. The most prominent areas with development potential where communication, understanding of the counterpart's culture, relationships, trust and the implementation of partnering.
