Studiens syfte har varit att undersöka allmänhetens syn på straffrabatten för ungdomar 18-20 år som finns i Sverige. Material till studien har samlats in med hjälp av en digital enkät som har varit tillgänglig på sociala medier-plattformar i 10 dagar. Totalt har enkäten genererat 172 svar. Respondenterna fick besvara frågor utifrån både valmöjligheter samt skriva fritt. Resultatet har analyserats utifrån statistikprogrammet SPSS samt utifrån en textanalys. De statistiska analyserna visade på att majoriteten av respondenterna vill ta bort straffrabatten för ungdomar 18-20 år. I textanalysen uppmärksammades följande teman “Oavsett ålder - brott är ett brott”, “Beror på brottstypen”, “Brottsförebyggande insatser och rehabilitering”, “Ung och dum - En andra chans”, “Förstagångs- och återfallsförbrytare” och “Ungdomar utnyttjas”. Utöver det uppmärksammades även en skillnad i restriktivitet mellan svaren där respondenterna kunde skriva fritt och svaren där dem fick välja bland valmöjligheter. De svar som bestod av valmöjligheter tenderade att vara mycket mer restriktiva än de svar där respondenterna själva kunde besvara fritt. / The aim of this study is to examine the public's opinion about the punishment reduction that exists in Sweden. The material for this study has been collected through an online survey that was posted on social media for 10 days, in total the survey resulted in 172 answers. The respondents answered questions both with predetermined options and also where they could write and respond freely. The result has been analyzed in the statistic program SPSS and also with a text-analysis. The statistical analyses showed that the majority of the respondents wanted to remove the punishment reduction for youths 18-20 years. In the text-analysis there was an observation of patterns regarding the following themes “ Regardless of age- a crime is a crime”, “Depending on the type of crime”, “ Crime prevention and rehabilitation”, “Young and stupid - a second chance”, “First time and relapse criminals” and “Youths are getting used”. Beyond what has already been mentioned there was also an observed pattern regarding differences in restrictiveness between the answers where the respondents could write freely and the predetermined options. The answers that contained predetermined options tended to be much more restrictive than the answers where the respondents could write freely.
