Previous issue date: 2015 / Partindo da compreensão de que as telenovelas são um produto ficcional destinado ao entretenimento, que dialoga com o contexto social do qual faz parte, e do entendimento de que a deficiência é uma vivência que enfrenta limitações sociais impostas tanto no campo físico como no discursivo; esta Tese estuda as representações da deficiência física adquirida na telenovela Viver a Vida, escrita por Manoel Carlos e veiculada na Rede Globo, entre 2009 e 2010. A análise interdisciplinar apoia-se em três campos de conhecimento: a Comunicação Social, a Antropologia e os Disability Studies em sua interface com os Estudos de Gênero. A Etnografia de tela foi a metodologia aplicada para analisar onze cenas da telenovela que tratam a intimidade da vivência da deficiência, discutindo questões como o cuidado, o corpo e a sexualidade. A pesquisa evidenciou a complexidade da vivência da deficiência e de sua abordagem, reconhecendo as divergências entre as distintas perspectivas e as tensões presentes no contexto social, assim como as limitações inerentes ao gênero telenovela, ao seu formato e seu objetivo.<br> / Abstract : Starting with the understanding that soap operas are a fictional products intended for entertainment, that dialogues with the social context they belong to, and also the comprehension that disability is an experience that confront social limitations in both the physical and discursive areas; this Thesis studies the representation of acquired physical disability in the soap opera Viver a Vida, written by Manoel Carlos and broadcast on Rede Globo, in 2009 and 2010. The interdisciplinary analysis relies on three fields of knowledge: Social Communication, Anthropology and Disability Studies in their interface with Gender Studies. Screen Ethnography was the methodology applied to analyze eleven scenes of said soap opera that deal with the intimacy of the disability experience, discussing issues such as care, body and sexuality. The research highlights the complexity of the experience of disability and its approach, recognizing the differences between the diverging perspectives and the tension present in the social context, as well as the inherent limitations of the soap opera genre, its format and its purpose.
