Previous issue date: 2017 / Esta pesquisa traz uma tradução comentada para o português do Brasil do conjunto de poemas escolhidos por Max Aub (1903-1972) para a primeira edição do Diario de Djelfa. O livro foi publicado originalmente em 1944, no México, com 27 poemas ? a maior parte escrita no período em que Max Aub esteve preso no campo de concentração de Djelfa (1941-1942), na Argelia, durante a 2ª Guerra Mundial, seis fotografias e um prólogo assinado pelo autor. O Diario de Djelfa ? que ganhou edição ampliada em 1970, quando foram incluídos outros vinte poemas ? está inserido no contexto do exílio republicano espanhol e reflete a experiência concentracionária de Aub. A tradução é inédita no Brasil e procurou responder a desafios apresentados por Max Aub que nos remetem ao forte teor testemunhal do Diario de Djelfa: a inclusão de elementos como as fotografias tiradas no campo de concentração, o prólogo, e o uso da palavra ?Diário? no título. Diante de tais elementos e partindo de uma leitura que considerou a forma-poema simbioticamente ligada ao testemunho, o projeto tradutório assumiu como caminho para enfrentar o desafio de traduzir o poema sem silenciar o testemunho, o acolhimento do Outro. Nesse sentido, a adoção de estratégias defendidas por teóricos como Antoine Berman e Lawrence Venuti serve como marca da postura ética e política adotada pela tradução do Diario de Djelfa; e com a qual esperamos colaborar para a reflexão sobre o papel que a tradução pode ter frente a textos escritos sob a égide da violência praticada por regimes totalitários, como aqueles que compõem as literaturas de testemunho e do exílio republicano. / Abstract : This research presents the commented translation into Brazilian Portuguese of the chosen poems by Max Aub (1930-1972) collected for the first edition of the Diario de Djelfa. The book was originally published in 1944 in Mexico with 27 poems most of them written in the period of Max Aub s imprisonment in the concentration camp in Djelfa, in Argelia (1941-1942), during the Second World War , six photographs and a prologue signed by the author. The Diario de Djelfa that has an enlarged edition in 1970, when other 20 poems were included , is placed in the context of the republican Spanish exile, and reflects Aub s experience in a concentration camp. The translation has not been published in Brazil and aims at responding to the challenges presented by Max Aub, which refer us to the strong testimonial tenor in the Diario de Djelfa: the inclusion of elements such as the photographs taken in the concentration camp, the prologue and the use of the Word ?Diario? (diary) in the title. Taken into account such elements and departing from a reading that I consider has a poem form symbiotically articulated to the testimony, the translation project acquired the path of
the embracement of the other in order to face the challenge of translating the poem without silencing the testimony. In this sense, adopting the strategies defended by theorists such as Antoine Berman and Lawrence Venuti reflects an ethical and political stand taken by the translation of
the Diario de Djelfa. Thus, we aim at contributing to the reflection on the role that translation can play with texts written under the aegis of violence carried under totalitarian regimes, such as those that make part of testimonial literatures and of the republican exile.
