O objetivo deste trabalho é investigar em que sentido a interiorização é a via que permite a realização do retorno à transcendência. Segundo Plotino, isso só é possível em função da presença do Uno na alma, considerado como o seu centro e a sua natureza originária. O conhecimento de si mesmo é indispensável nesse processo, pois permite que a alma conheça a sua origem, o seu vínculo com o princípio e a causa do mal que a afeta. O caminho de subida ao princípio deve ser percorrido em duas etapas: do sensível ao inteligível e do inteligível ao Uno. Três são os candidatos aptos a percorrê-lo: o músico, o amante e o filósofo. O retorno ao inteligível pode ser realizado por meio da contemplação da beleza, da prática das virtudes e do exercício da dialética. A unificação com o Uno requer a superação de todas as determinações inteligíveis por meio da abstração e permite que a alma supere os seus limites e coincida com a presença do Uno. _____________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT / Plotinus establishes as the last end of human existence the unification of the soul with the transcendent principle of all beings: the One, or the Good. The aim of this dissertation is to investigate in what sense internalization is the way that allows the realization of the return to transcendence. According to Plotinus, this is only possible by virtue of the presence of the One in the soul, considered as its center and original nature. Self-knowledge is indispensable in this process, for it allows that the soul know its origin, its bond with the principle and the cause of the evil that affects it. The way of ascent to the principle must be pursued in two stages: from the sensible to the intelligible, and from the intelligible to the One. There are three candidates able to pursue it: the musician, the lover and the philosopher. The return to the intelligible can be accomplished by means of the contemplation of beauty, the practice of the virtues and the exercise of dialectic. Unification with the One requires the overcoming of all intelligible determination by means of abstraction, and allows that the soul surpass its limits and coincide with the presence of the One.
