Using both micro- and macro-eharaeters, studied with both seanning eleetron microscopy (MEV) and light microscopy (ML), a total of 90 species, from 26 segregate genera of Eupatorium s.l., were recognized: AustrocrÍtonia RM. King & H. Robins. (2 spp.); Austroeupatorium R.M. King & H. Robins. (4 spp.); Ayapana Spaeh (1 sp.); Barrosoa R.M. IGng & H. Robins. (3 spp.); Campovassouria R.M. King & H.
Robins. (1 sp.); Campuloclinium (De.) Benth. ex Baker (8 spp.); Chromolaena De. (24 spp.); . Critonia P. Brown (1 sp.); Dasycondylus RM. King & H. Robins. (2 spp.); Disynaphia Hook. & Arn. ex De. (1 sp.); Fleischmannia Seh. Bip. (2 spp.); GrazjeUa R.M. King & H. Robins. (6 spp.); Gyptis (Cass.) Casso (3 spp.); Hatschbachiella RM. King & H. Robins. (1 sp.); Hebeclinium De. (1 sp.); Heterocondylus RM. King & H. Robins. (6 spp.); Idiothamnus R.M. King & H. Robins. (1 sp.); Kaunia (1 sp.); Koanophyllon Arruda da Camara (4 spp.); Neocabreria RM. King & H. Robins. (lsp.); VÜtetia RM. King & H. Robins. Three new synonyms were established: Campuloclinium eiteniorum RM. King & H. Robins. to C. chlorolepis (Baker) RM. King & H. Robins., Heterocondylus pandurifolius (Baker) RM. King & H. Robins. to H. amphidictyus (DC.) R.M. King & H. Robins. and Eupatorium subglabratum (Hieron.) Cabrera & Klein to Praxelis sanctopaulensis (B.L. Robins.) R.M. King & H. Robins. Two new eombinations are made: Praxelis decumbens (Gardn.) RL. Esteves and Chromo/aena velutina (De.) RL. Esteves. Three new species were also recognized, in Chromolaena, Heterocondylus and Praxelis, whieh wiIl be published shortly.
