Previous issue date: 2001 / Em decorrência do progresso das ciências, condições de saúde que
eram iminentemente letais passaram a dispor de tratamentos eficazes,
embora a cura nem sempre seja alcançada. Atualmente, considerável
parcela da população mundial sobrevive com condições crônicas de saúde,
realizando tratamento sistemático.
A necessidade de adaptação ao tratamento e ao novo estilo de vida
freqüentemente constituem-se em importantes fontes de estresse para
esses pacientes. Nessas condições, a depressão tem sido amplamente
referida, apresentando-se associada à falta de adesão ao tratamento e
repercutindo negativamente no prognóstico do paciente. Alguns estudos tem
investigado a percepção do paciente acerca de sua condição de saúde e os
resultados obtidos sugerem que esta é uma variável que se associa à
ocorrência de depressão, à adesão e até mesmo à melhor evolução do
paciente.
O Illness Effects Questionnaire (IEQ) é um instrumento que possibilita
a avaliação padronizada da percepção do paciente em relação à doença.
Dada a relevância dessa questão e como no Brasil não dispúnhamos de
instrumento equivalente, objetivamos com esse estudo realizar a adaptação
transcultural do IEQ em nosso país.
Para tanto, realizamos a tradução para o português através do
método da retro-tradução e o estudo de confiabilidade através do método do
teste-reteste. Os resultados obtidos mostraram-se bastante satisfatórios. / Due to the science advance, those health conditions that were almost
always lethal have become able to provide effective treatments, although the
healing is not always achieved. Presently a considerable part of the
worldwide population survives upon chronic health conditions, performing
sistematic treatment.
The necessity of getting adapted to the treatment and to the new life
style frequently consists of stress sources for these patients. Due to these
conditions depression has been widely detected, being associated to a lack
of adherence to a treatment, thus providing a negative prognosis of the
pacient. Some studies have investigated the acknowledgement of the patient
of his health condition and the achieved results suggest that this is a variable
that is associated to the occurance of depression, to the adherence and
even to a better evolution of the pacient.
The Illness Effects Questionnaire (IEQ) is an instrument that permits a
standard evaluation of perception on the account of the pacient of his illness.
Once provided the relevance of the issue and as there had never been an
equivalent instrument in Brazil, we aimed to perform by means of this study
a trans-cultural adaptation of the IEQ in our country.
Therefore we performed a translation of the IEQ into Portuguese
through the method to back-translation, as well as the study reliability through
the retest method. The accomplished results proved to be quite satisfactory. / BV UNIFESP: Teses e dissertações
