Such an institution prints since its inception a solid conception of representations of the Northeast region of Brazil, mainly from the theoretical paradigm of its founder sociologist Gilberto Freyre. Thus, the Northeast Man Museum held throughout his career curatorial experiences presented in their long-term exposures, so that such museological narrative gathered over the years general aspects of the institution and its professionals believed to represent the identity and the man of the culture of the Northeast and its ecosystem. However, with the emergence of new citizenships, ethnic groups, realities and discursive empowerment of various social groups, such as blacks, poor, indigenous and women are placed under discussion that identities are constructed from the exhibition of traditional institutions, such as MUHNE . This movement begins to challenge the power of speech or representation of museums as memory agents. At the center of these debates our wishes were not only bring the institutional trajectory of Northeastern Man Museum, but problematize the museological narrative produced by the institution throughout his career. In this sense, produced statements arise, the production area of speeches - the social position-and its agents - the authors - in the sense that we should also reflect on the museum experts, this group of subjects who developed the museum discourse MUHNE . Thus, in the wake of cultural history, this work, which ends in a border camp in which theoretical and methodological aspects of historiographical theory and museological science meet, seeks to understand that discourse and Northeast representations were predominantly built by long-term exhibitions in the Museum of the Northeast Man, the Department of Museology between the years 1979 and 2002. and how such representations materialized discursively through the collections and configured an imagined community and idealized that is confined to the Region Northeast of Brazil. / Criado em 21 de Julho de 1979 o Museu do Homem do Nordeste é uma das instituições museológicas mais importantes do Estado de Pernambuco e nos anos 1980 foi uma das principais referencias nacionais dentro do campo da museologia, sobretudo, por sua atuação na região Nordeste como agente formador de mão de obra especializada para atuar no campo dos museus, da cultura e do patrimônio. Tal instituição imprime desde a sua criação uma concepção sólida acerca das representações sobre a região Nordeste do Brasil, principalmente a partir do paradigma teórico de seu fundador o sociólogo Gilberto Freyre. Deste modo, o Museu do Homem do Nordeste realizou ao longo de sua trajetória experiências curatoriais apresentadas em suas exposições longa duração, de modo que, tais narrativas museais congregaram ao longo dos anos aspectos gerais do que a instituição e seus profissionais acreditavam representar a identidade e a cultura do homem do Nordeste e seu ecossistema. Contudo, com a emergência das novas cidadanias, grupos étnicos, realidades e empoderamento discursivo de diversos grupos sociais, como negros, pobres, indígenas e mulheres, se colocam em debate que identidades são construídas a partir das exposições de instituições tradicionais, como é o MUHNE. Esse movimento passa a contestar o poder de fala ou de representação dos museus enquanto agentes da memória. No centro desses debates nossos anseios foram não só, trazer a trajetória institucional do Museu do Homem do Nordeste, mas problematizar as narrativas museais produzidas por essa instituição ao longo de sua trajetória. Nesse sentido, surgem os enunciados produzidos, o território de produção dos discursos – o lugar social -e seus agentes – os autores - , no sentido em que também devemos refletir sobre os museólogos, esse grupo de sujeitos, que elaborou o discurso museal do MUHNE. Assim, na esteira da história cultural, este trabalho, que se encerra em um campo de fronteira, em que aspectos teórico-metodológicos da teoria historiográfica e da ciência museológica se encontram, busca compreender que discursos e que representações de região Nordeste foram predominantemente construídas pelas exposições de longa duração realizadas no Museu do Homem do Nordeste, pelo Departamento de Museologia entre os anos de 1979 e 2002. E de que modo, tais representações se materializaram discursivamente através dos acervos e configuraram uma comunidade imaginada e idealizada em que está circunscrita à Região Nordeste do Brasil.
