Este trabalho investigou as formas de manifestação e fatores associados à violência escolar em adolescentes de Porto Alegre/RS. Foram realizados dois estudos de delineamento transversal, sendo um qualitativo e outro quantitativo. O Estudo I investigou a percepção de estudantes e de professores acerca da violência no espaço escolar. Participaram 16 professores e 60 alunos de uma escola pública de Porto Alegre/RS. Foram realizados grupos focais, sendo realizados dois grupos de alunos e um grupo de professores. O Estudo 2 teve por objetivo investigar a ocorrência de violência no espaço escolar e sua associação a outros contextos de violência, satisfação de vida e sintomas internalizantes em adolescentes. Participaram 426 jovens de escolas públicas de Porto Alegre, de ambos os sexos, com idades de 12 a 18 anos, que responderam a uma ficha de dados sociodemográficos, um instrumento sobre exposição à violência intra e extrafamiliar, a Escala Multidimensional de Satisfação de Vida, e a Escala de Depressão, Ansiedade e Estresse para Adolescentes (EDAE-A). Os resultados dos trabalhos indicam que violência escolar tem afetado o desenvolvimento das vítimas e também das testemunhas, como os docentes. Em ambos os estudos a violência intrafamiliar foi associada às violências na escola. A vitimização na escola também foi associada à insatisfação com a própria vida e com sintomas internalizantes em adolescentes. A participação da comunidade escolar na resolução dos conflitos e na prevenção à violência são ações que podem proporcionar espaços escolares menos violentos, segundo alunos e professores. O impacto da violência escolar e os fatores sociais e individuais associados à sua ocorrência são discutidos. / This paper investigated the forms of manifestation and associated factors to school violence with adolescents of Porto Alegre/RS. Two cross-sectional studies were conducted, one qualitative and another quantitative. Study 1 investigated student and teacher’s perceptions about school violence. The participants were 16 teachers and 60 students of a public school located in Porto Alegre/RS. There were three focus groups, two formed by students and another one by teachers. Study 2 had the purpose to investigate school victimization among adolescents and to examine the relationship between these reports and other contexts of violence life satisfaction and mental health. The participants were 426 adolescents from public schools of Porto Alegre, aged 12-18 years, who answered a record of sociodemographic data, instruments about family and community violence, the Multidimensional Life Satisfaction Scale for Adolescents (MLSSA), and the Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale for Adolescents (DASS-A). The results of the studies indicates that school violence has affected the development of victims and witnesses, as well as teachers. On both studies, familiar violence was associated to the violence that occurs in school. Victimization in school was also associated to reduce life satisfaction and increased internalizing symptoms. Students and teachers described participation of the all people of the school community on the resolution of conflict’s and violence prevention’s actions as a solution to more peaceful environments. The impact of school violence and the social and individual factors associated with this type of violence are discussed.
