Research theme: Roles of pedagogue in a modern society.

Profession of a teacher differs from other professions because a teacher himself is an instrument of his work. An artisan has a chisel or a plane, a machine tool or a drill; even a doctor has instruments to test state of health and medicaments affecting the patient. A teacher has nothing – only his own knowledge and feelings, wisdom and skills, experience and values. In his professional life he appeals to himself and uses his own internal powers. Therefore, personality of a teacher is the main mover of his work, his passport to success. To reach an optimal use of himself as an instrument of his work, firstly, a teacher has to self-actualise, secondly, to know how to use his strengths and control weaknesses and, thirdly, to care of self-improvement and self-help.

Research aim: to examine the roles of pedagogue in a modern society.
Research objectives:
• to survey the roles of pedagogue, presented in scientific literature;
• to analyse the inborn and obtainable characteristics and possible dangerous illusions of pedagogue;
• to investigate the attitude of teachers, students and pupils towards the roles of modern pedagogue in a society.
Research methods: scientific literature analysis, teachers, students and pupils questionnaire, quantitative and qualitative analysis of the results of research.
