Bakgrund: Klamydia ökar bland ungdomar och unga vuxna i Sverige. Vad gäller preventivt HIV/STI-arbete riktat mot ungdomar som utförs av landsting och kommuner når detta i högre grad ut till unga kvinnor än män. Syfte och metod: En intervjustudie har genomförts under januari till juni 2006 med syfte att belysa unga mäns syn på sex, relationer och handlingsstrategier. Tre fokusgrupper genomfördes bestående av sammanlagt 14 heterosexuella högskolestuderande män, 20-29 år, rekryterade på en högskola i södra Sverige. Frågor kring platser och tillfällen att träffa nya kontakter, olika former av relationer samt säkrare sex och preventivmedel ingick i intervjuerna. Resultat: I resultatet framgår att kön/sexualitet, säkrare sex och förhållningssätt till relationer är teman som hör ihop i de unga männens resonemang. Det finns olika former av sexuella relationer och syftet med nya kontakter är inte alltid bestämt i förväg, utan utformas ofta i det sexuella mötet. Syftet med relationen avgör när sexuell aktivitet ska ske. Kommunikationen i det sexuella mötet är ofta bristfällig. Vid oskyddat sex är graviditet ofta den största oron, men männen talar även om oro för STI. Resonemanget kring kondomanvändning säger däremot att varken graviditet, HIV eller klamydia är något att oroa sig över egentligen. Analys och slutsats: I analysen framgår att plats, syfte och kontakt med personen tillsammans avgör utgången i ett sexuellt möte. Sexuellt risktagande kan vara en följd av bristande kommunikation eller outtalade script och förväntningar i sexuella möten. Vidare betonas vikten av att arbeta vidare med frågor kring hur allvaret av att drabbas av en STI kan förmedlas till ungdomar och unga vuxna samt i detta hur frågan kring kondomanvändning kan göras mer avslappnad. / Background: Chlamydia is increasing among youths and young adults in Sweden. The HIV/STI-prevention done by Swedish county councils and municipalities towards adolescents reach more young women than men. Aim and method: An interview-based study, aiming to explore young men's view of sex, relationships and strategies of action, was conducted during January til June 2006. Three focus group interviews were conducted comprising a total of 14 heterosexual men, 20-29 years old, studying at the university, and recruited at a university in the south of Sweden. Questions of places and opportunities to meet new contacts, different forms of relationships and safer sex were asked during the interviews. Results: The results revealed that the themes gender/sexuality, safer sex and the attitudes to relationships were intertwined in the young men's discussion. There are different forms of sexual relationships and the purpose with new contacts is not always decided in advance, but is often established during the sexual encounter. In a sexual situation the decision of having sex or not is based on the aim of the coming relationship. The communication in sexual encounters is often insufficient. After unprotected sex pregnancy is often the biggest worry, but the participants also speak of concerns about getting STIs. The discussion regarding condom use, on the other hand, suggests that neither pregnancy, HIV nor chlamydia is something to really worry about. Analysis and conclusion: The analysis reveales that place, aim and contact with the person together decides the outcome of a sexual encounter. Sexual risk-taking behaviour can be a result of a lack in communication or unspoken scripts and expectations in sexual encounters. Further the analysis stress the importance of working towards and reaching youths and young adults with questions about the seriousness of getting an STI and how to make the question of condom use more relaxed.
