Den här uppsatsen behandlar elevers kunskaper om begreppet funktioner. Det står i uppnäendemålen att eleverna skall kunna tolka och använda enkla formler, läsa enkla ekvationer, samt kunna tolka och använda grafer till funktioner som beskriver verkliga förhållanden och händelser. (Utbildningsdepartementet, 1998). Undersökningen är gjord på tre skolor och omfattar två klasser i är 9 samt en klass i gymnasiet. Vi har genom enkäter och djupintervjuer försökt ta reda på vad eleverna kan inom området. Kan de se sambanden mellan situation, graf och formel? En av slutsatserna vi har dragit är att många elever inte läser om funktioner som ett helt begrepp förrän alldeles i slutet av år 9. Det är anledningen till att vi även har gjort vår undersökning på gymnasiet. En annan viktig slutsats är att eleverna tycks ha svårt att se samband mellan de olika uttryckssätten som vi har undersökt. / This essay deal with students knowledge in the conceptions of functions. In the goals for the students to achive there is written _" be able to interpret and use simple formulas, dissolve simple equations, and be able to interpret and use graphs to functions which describe real state of things and real situations."(Utbildningsdepartementet, 1998). This study is done on three schools and include two classes in year nine and also one class in senior high scool. We have through questionnaire and in-depth interviews attempt to find out what students know of this sphere. Are they able to se the connections between a situation, a graph and a formula? One of the conclusions we have made is that students not read about functions as a complete conception until the last of the ninth year in school. This is the reason to why we even have done the study in senior high school. Another conclusion we have made is that the students seems to have problems to see the connections between the way of expressions we have investigated.
