[pt] Ferreira de Castro: duas narrativas e uma trajetória tem por objetivo
central investigar a trajetória do escritor Ferreira de Castro pondo-a em articulação
com dois de seus romances, A Selva (1930) e A Lã e a Neve (1947). Desta forma,
procede-se um estudo de caso no qual é possível propor uma alternativa aos
parâmetros da crítica biográfica tradicional, explorando diferencialmente os nexos
entre a obra e a vida. O primeiro capítulo depara-se com a reconstituição de fatos
da infância e adolescência de José Maria Ferreira de Castro que se julgam
importantes para compreensão de como se formou o artista Ferreira de Castro,
como também para o entendimento do rumo que deu a sua literatura. O segundo,
foca-se na análise do seu romance A Selva, verificando como o autor estrangeiro e
imigrante testemunha uma realidade social brasileira pouco conhecida à época e,
paralelamente, discute-se a elaboração estética da Amazônia e a possibilidade de
leitura da narrativa como uma história exemplar. O terceiro capítulo ocupa-se
inicialmente de uma breve análise do retorno de Ferreira de Castro a Portugal e
seu posicionamento crítico em relação ao regime fascista que então governava o
país. Tem-se como alvo principal neste capítulo a avaliação do papel do
intelectual-escritor atuante através do romance A Lã e a Neve, entendendo-se esta
narrativa como um testemunho vigoroso acerca da vida de camponeses e operários
no auge da ditadura salazarista. / [en] Ferreira de Castro: two novels and a trajectory aims to investigate the
central trajectory as a writer Ferreira de Castro putting it in conjunction with two
of his novels, A Selva (1930) and A Lã e a Neve (1947). Thus, the procedure is a
case study in which it is possible to propose an alternative to the parameters of the
traditional biographical criticism, exploring differentially the connections between
the work and life. The first chapter is faced with the reconstitution of the facts of
childhood and adolescence of José Maria Ferreira de Castro, facts that are
important for understanding how was formed the artist Ferreira de Castro, but also
for understanding the direction that he gave to his literature. In the second, focuses
on the analysis of his novel A Selva, noting how the foreigner author and
immigrant can testify about a Brazilian social reality little known at that time,
similarly, discuss about aesthetic elaboration of the Amazon and the possibility of
reading the narrative as an exemplary story. The third chapter, initially, is
characterized by a brief analysis of the Ferreira de Castro’s return to Portugal and
his critical stance against the fascist regime that ruled the country. The main aim
of this chapter is to evaluate the role of intellectual-writer acting through the novel
A Lã e a Neve, which is a powerful testimony about the life of peasants and
manual workers at the height of the Salazar dictatorship.
