Application of the Hydrosols from Natural Farming Aromatic Plants on Cosmetics / 自然農法香氛植物純露之化粧品應用探討

HUANG, WEI-HSIANG, 黃威翔 January 2017 (has links)
碩士 / 靜宜大學 / 化粧品科學系 / 105 / Natural farming is a natural planting method that does not use pesticides and fertilizers to treat the environments friendly. The aromatic plants regularly use distillation, solvent extraction, cold pressing and fat extraction methods to concentrate active components that utilized for the application of aromatherapy, cosmetics, food, medicine industries. By using the distillation extraction procedure, we can obtain essential oil from the organic phase and the hydrosol from the water phase. Among them, the hydrosol is rarely used in cosmetic products. Therefore, in this study, we choose eight natural farming aromatic plants, including Chamaecyparis formosensis, Cinnamomum camphora, Mentha piperita Swiss, Melissa offcinnalis, Aloysia triphylla, Melaleuca alternifolia, Cymbopogon citratus and Cinnamomoum osmophloeum Kanehira, using of distillation method to extract the hydrosols for the testing of in vitro anti-oxidative activity, anti-microbial activity and cytotoxicity. The results demonstrated that all hydrosols have antioxidant activities. Moreover, the hydrosols of C. formosensis, C. camphora, M. piperita Swiss, M. alternifolia, and C. osmophloeum Kanehira can inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli. Therefore, supposedly, hydrosols have the potential for used as the functional ingredients in cosmetics.

Using Dramaturgical Theory to Investiagate the Effect of Anxiety and Trust on Sense of Service Value – A Study of the Patient Received Medical examined / 以劇場理論探討焦慮與信任對服務價值感的影響-以檢查病人為例

Pei-Chun Chen, 陳佩君 January 2016 (has links)
碩士 / 長榮大學 / 醫務管理學系(所) / 105 / Introduction:Medical institutions are responsible for providing patient treatment, resulting in many of the key marketing elements subject to the limitations and restrictions of ethical obligations and execution difficulty. In recent years, many medical institutions change hospital interior and exterior design and their medical procedures so that people seeking medical treatment may experience better visual perception and service, the feelings of which will have an impact on the overall value of hospital service, also referred to as important factors to determine choice of medical treatment. Anxiety and trust often appear in patient’s ambivalence. The studies in the past are to explore (1) the intervention of music, aromatherapy, health education, and so on to reduce the anxiety of patients. (2)Physical environment and professional knowledge will improve patients’ trust. All described is part of the four tactical arms of the Dramaturgical Theory. Therefore, this study aims to examine the impact of Medical Theatre on patients’ anxiety, trust and sense of service value during their check-ups. Methods:This is a cross-sectional study. Survey research was conducted among patients who received outpatient checkup or returned to check their report on their second visit in a regional teaching hospital in Southern Taiwan. With the use of convenience sampling, a total of 375 copies of the questionnaire were distributed, 350 copies of which were valid. The recovery rate of (93%) was considered valid. In this study, each dimension was evaluated through factor analysis and validity analysis and the hypothesis was tested with the application of structural equation modeling in order to understand the direct relationships among medical theatre, anxiety, trust and sense of service value and analyze whether anxiety and trust are intermediary variables. Results:(1) High levels of patients’ feelings regarding the execution of checkups in the setting of medical theatre are positively associated with sense of service value and trust in medical institutions. (2) Lower levels of patients’ feelings regarding the execution of checkups in the setting of medical theatre are not negatively associated with anxiety.(3) Lower levels of patients’ anxiety towards checkups are not positively associated with sense of service value for the hospital while higher level of patients’ trust is positively associated with sense of service value.(4) As for the execution of checkups in the setting of medical theatre, sense of service value towards medical institution is not affected due to lower anxiety in patients but affected by the increased trust in patients. Suggestions:The multi-perspectives of dramaturgical theory help better understand patients, such as their understanding of medical environment and of the doctor-patient relationship as well as their feelings and satisfaction of service attitude of medical professionals and brand reputation. This study shows the use of dramaturgical theory can increase patients’ sense of service value of the hospital and the degree of their trust towards medical professionals or the hospital. It is recommended that more studies in the field of medical industry based on dramaturgical theory can be further discussed in the future.

Improvement Effects of Eucalyptus Essential Oil Aromatherapy on Ergogenic Properties‚ Anti-oxidant and Inflammation Activities in Endurance Swimming Rats / 藍膠尤加利精油芳香療法對耐力游泳之大鼠在增能、抗氧化及抗發炎能力的改善效果

LIN, TSO-CHING, 林作慶 January 2018 (has links)
博士 / 大葉大學 / 食品暨應用生物科技學系 / 107 / Eucalyptus globulus possesses important pharmacological activities, including antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. We investigated the anti-fatigue, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory effects of eucalyptus essential oil after swimming exercise using an animal model. Male Sprague–Dawley rats were administered eucalyptus oil (200 µL/h) daily via inhalation (15 min), and anti-fatigue effects were assessed following eucalyptus essential oil administration for 2 or 4 weeks when forced to swim until exhaustion while carrying ~5% body weight-equivalent. To assess antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, control and oil-treated groups were subjected to swimming, which was intensified from 90 min to 120 min daily over 4 weeks, with non-swimming groups included as controls. The 2- and 4-week-treated rats increased their swimming-to-exhaustion time by 46 s and 111 s, respectively. Additionally, lactate (LA), creatine kinase (CK), and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) activities increased significantly in the non-treated swimming relative to levels observed in the non-swimming groups (p < 0.05); however, no significant differences in these markers were observed between the treated groups. The anti-fatigue effects were related to LA clearance and reduced LDH and CK concentrations. Moreover, compared to the corresponding levels in the non-swimmers, the non-treated swimmers showed markedly elevated levels of liver malondialdehyde (MDA), xanthine oxidase (XO), and other factors, but significantly decreased (p < 0.05) glutathione (GSH) concentrations. However, compared with that of the non-swimmer group, the treated swimming group showed no significant changes in these levels (p > 0.05), suggesting stable XO and MDA production and maintenance of GSH levels. These results suggested that eucalyptus oil aromatherapy increased rat swimming performance and antioxidant capacity and decreased oxidative damage and inflammatory reactions in tissues, indicating good anti-fatigue, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory effects after high-intensity endurance exercise.

Shuan-Pei Chen, 陳暄姵 January 2017 (has links)
碩士 / 台南應用科技大學 / 生活服務產業系生活應用科學碩士班 / 105 / The autonomic nervous system controls more than 90% activities of the body''s nerves and internal organs. The imbalance of autonomic nervous system would result in abnormalities of the system, which is harmful to health. Therefore aromatherapy and massage are important options for modern relaxation. This study focused on the activity of human autonomic nervous system effected by aromatherapy using lemon essential oil and/or meridian acupressure. Subjects were 36 adults tested for 8 times in a month to compare the changes of the autonomic nervous activity among “simple meridian acupressure,” “simple aromatherapy” and “aromatherapy with meridian acupressure.” The results showed that “simple meridian acupressure” and “aromatherapy with meridian acupressure” significantly increased the activity of parasympathetic nerves (HF%), while “simple aromatherapy” can increase the activity of sympathetic nerves (LF%). In the “simple meridian acupressure” tests, we did not observe significant change in the overall energy (total power TP), however, “simple aromatherapy” and “aromatherapy with meridian acupressure” can significant improve the overall energy.

The Influence of Essential Oils and Sniffing Time on the Autonomic Nerve System / 精油種類與嗅聞時間對人體自律神經之影響

Jui-Mien Chen, 陳瑞棉 January 2017 (has links)
碩士 / 台南應用科技大學 / 生活服務產業系生活應用科學碩士班 / 105 / Abstract The development of medical science is less than 200 years, however it makes great contribution to the cure of diseases, the trauma treatment and surgical operation. But the side-effects of medicines and invasive treatments are highly criticized by people, and it makes people pay more and more attention to the other non-toxic and non-invasive methods. Recently aromatherapy becomes one of the methods and whether the aromatherapy can be a conspicuous influence on autonomic nervous system is highly concerned. The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the sniffing time effect on the autonomic nervous system by sniffing two kinds of essential oils. The experiment is expected to be a reference for people and aromatherapists. Purposive sampling was applied for object selection. The results show that: (1) lavender or lemon essential oil has no obvious change to the autonomic nervous system after 5 minute sniffing. (2) Lavender or lemon essential oils can significantly affect autonomic nervous system activity after 15 minute sniffing compared to 5 minute sniffing. (3) The activity of parasympathetic nerve can be obviously enhanced with 15 minute sniffing lavender essential oil, which helps testee to feel relaxed. (4) The activity of sympathetic nerve can be obviously enhanced with 15 minute sniffing lemon essential oil, which helps testee to refresh themselves.

To explore the effect of essential oil on the cognitive function of the human brain by the non-invasive method / 利用非侵入性方法研究精油對大腦認知功能的影響

HUANG, YI-JOU, 黃以柔 January 2018 (has links)
碩士 / 輔仁大學 / 生命科學系碩士班 / 106 / Essential oils (EO) are chemical from the plant that resistant to pests or antivirus which extract the root, stem, leaf or flower. Previous studies indicate lavender essential oil (Lavandula officinalis) is the most commonly an essential oil, it can relieve nerves, calm emotions, to promote sleep and other effects. Rosemary essential oil (Rosemarinus officinalis) can enhance memory and make the mind clear. Many studies explain differently on the physiological and psychological condition, include nerve system, heart rate, and emotion that used to smell essential oil of aromatherapy. The purpose of this thesis was to explore the effect of essential oil on the cognitive function of the human brain by the non-invasive method. Three experiments were in this study: First experiment using Electroencephalography (EEG), Eye-tracking and Smart wrist; Second experiment using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI); Third experiment using real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (QPCR) to detect gene expression. The first experiment the subjects smelt water or lavender or rosemary essential oil randomly who did 9 questions at the selective attention task and recorded their brainwave, eye movement, and heart rate. The results of behavioral experiments showed no significant difference. Neuron-Spectrum.NET surface analyzed EEG including β low frequency (βLF) and β high frequency (βHF) or brain ratio: βLF /α, βHF/α, βLF /(α+βLF +βHF) and βHF /(α+βLF +βHF). The results of EEG showed the control and rosemary essential oil group prayed more attention than lavender essential oil which activated in the right frontal lobe, temporal lobe and parietal lobe. In addition, Standardized low-resolution brain electromagnetic tomography (sLORETA), the regions of interest (ROI) about olfactory systems and emotion included Inferior Frontal Gyrus, Middle Frontal Gyrus, Orbitofrontal Cortex, Rectal Gyrus, Insula and Anterior Cingulate Cortex. The results of sLORETA showed that the subjects felt relaxed in the essential oil group, but they did not affect that they focus the task. The second experiment was using fMRI. The subjects did 40 questions at selective attention task. The results of behavioral experiments showed the score and time were no significant differences in three group. We found the lavender and rosemary essential oil group activated on Insula and Anterior Cingulate Cortex, they implied the essential oil will be activated brain area by olfactory stimulating. The third experiment was exploring the gene expression relative cognitive or memory function by QPCR. We sampled the oral mucosa cell from the subjects after first experiment finishing. The gene expression included nuclear receptor subfamily 3 group C member 1 (NR3C1) which as an indicator of stress and relaxation. The results showed that despite differences in pairwise comparables three groups have different, but still proved its significance. The study helps to know whether essential oil can achieve relation and attention strangely. Keywords: essential oil, lavender, rosemary, EEG, eye-tracking, fMRI, cognitive function
