A Study on the Relieving-Streas Behavior Aromatherapy-Technology Media as a mediator / 探討舒壓之芳香療法行為-科技媒介為中介因素Tsai Pei-Shan, 蔡佩珊 January 2016 (has links)
碩士 / 國立臺北商業大學 / 資訊與決策科學研究所 / 104 / In order to ease and weaken the impacts caused by pressure, people nowadays seek for solutions to ease tension or alleviate pressures which arise in our daily life. Aromatherapy is one of the common way to relieve pressure among various pressure-alleviating methods. In addition, mobile technology application innovated and popularized rapidly along with the progress of information and internet technologies. Therefore, the main subject of this study is to discuss how to connect aromatherapy with the effects of mobile technology.
This study was made to discuss various applications of aromatherapy, especially to understand the origin and development of aromatherapy as foundation. It also considers technology media, gender, age, economic ability as the mediation mode to shape the construction of the study. In this study, cluster sampling was applied first and followed by random sampling; paper and electronic questionnaires were dispatched in the same time. The samples of this study were taken from people who had had aromatherapy treatment from cities located in Northern Taiwan, such as Taipei, New Taipei City and Taoyuan City. There are 350 copies of questionnaires dispatched during April to June of 2015 and 329 copies returned. The effective response rate is 94%. There are 292 valid questionnaires and 37 invalid questionnaires. Descriptive Statistics Analysis, Regression Analysis and Chi-Square Test were applied to verify the assumption of this study.
There are four points that we can find in this study: 1. People who are faced with pressure in daily life will seek for pressure-alleviating methods actively. 2. People who choose aromatherapy as pressure-alleviating method are more apparently among all the pressure-alleviating methods. 3. Technology media play a significant mediating role between the person who is willing to relieving-stress and choosing aromatherapy. 4. Age and income indeed have impact on whether people choosing aromatherapy as pressure-alleviating method or not. However, gender does not seem to have any significant influence. Relevant suggestions are provided based on the study result, which can be the references for leisure industry that provides aromatherapy and mobile application industry.
According to the study related to the action of technology media, we can find that the information of aromatherapy connected by technology products has apparent differences depending on gender, age and the extent when people faced pressure. On the contrary, it will not make any influences depending on monthly income, the experience of contact with aromatic therapy and the purpose of doing aromatherapy. But there have four factors that will have impacts on the action of aromatherapy connected by technology media, especially the degree of satisfaction after having an aromatherapy – the extent of whether people accept aromatherapy, the way how people get information, alleviated by technology and consumption frequency. In conclusion, we also found that the action of technology media didn’t make any obvious influences between the amount that consumer spent on aromatherapy and the message type that consumers hope to receive in the future.

Development of mobile health promotng equipment by using far infrared radiation / 行動遠紅外線溫熱效應醫療保健養生設備之研發Hung-Yi Chien, 簡宏伊 Unknown Date (has links)
碩士 / 元培科技大學 / 醫學影像暨放射技術研究所 / 102 / Far Infrared (FIR) is defined in general to be 5.0~1000μm electromagnetic waves. Its radiation and absorption relate closely to the vibration and rotation. Of which, the range of 4~14μm wavelength can stimulate cell tissues and be absorbed effectively by creatures, thereby affecting the mechanism of growth and physiology. Therefore, it is named a “growth ray” by scientists. This waveband is also widely used in FIR Therapy.
Infrared rays absorbed by molecules in a creature may lead to vibrational Transition and Rotational Transition, further resulting in thermal effect and non-thermal effect. FIR Therapy acts on the human body through warming effect, which occurs by resonance absorption of body cells with FIR. It has been found that FIR can facilitate blood circulation and metabolism, thereby reducing deposition of lipids in blood vessels and decreasing the occurrence of arteriosclerosis. Similar to vasodilators, local FIR radiation can improve micro-circulation. No significant side effects have been found within therapeutic dose range. Its clinical applications include: dialysis fistula, wound healing, hypertension treatment, reducing blood sugar, autonomic nervous system treatment, treatment and prevention of chronic prostatitis, etc. A lot of emerging themes have made FIR therapy application more diverse, from preventive medicine to conventional medicine.
This research is a mobile cabinet-shaped FIR warming device, a new Republic of China patent No.M471283. It can be used to connect a transport vehicle and used by 6 persons at the same time - for approximately 30 minutes, at 39~45℃. With a temperature controller, accompanied by Musicotherapy and Aromatherapy, a systemic FIR oven radiation combines Steam Spa and the warming effect of FIR to achieve health and care. By developing this mobile FIR medical care device with a warming effect, people will not be merely steamed in an oven; they can also utilize FIR to care for their bodies at the same time. Therefore, this is a sub-health concept worthy of promotion.

Effect of Lavender Essential Oil on Anti-inflammation of Human Monocyte (THP-1) / 薰衣草精油對人類單核球細胞(THP-1)抗發炎之影響Mei-Yu Huang, 黃美瑜 January 2008 (has links)
碩士 / 元培科技大學 / 生物技術研究所 / 96 / Lavender essential oil is most favorite and widely used in aromatherapy. Many researches have confirmed its effects of calming, assisting sleep, reducing pain and muscular spasm, and antiseptic function. However, no one has successfully demonstrated that lavender essential oil reduced the inflammation. Using the human monocyte THP-1 cells indcuced by lipopolysaccharide ( LPS ), we recently found that approximate 50% of THP-1 cells differentiated into macrophage after 24 hr incubation of LPS ( 5μg/ml), but did not influence on 3- (4,5-dimethylthiozol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide ( MTT ) cell viability assay at 0.1% lavender essential oil. HPLC analysis has revealed that linalool was the major component ( 40% ). Since Interleukin 1β ( IL-1β ) production and cell cycle analysis have demonstrated that 0.1% lavender essential oil inhibited IL-1β generation after 24 hr incubation of LPS, it clearly indicated that lavender essential oil had anti-inflammatory effect but 0.04 % linalool did not. We found cell cycle stayed at G2 phase after lavender essential oil treatment vs without lavender essential oil treatment ( 13.47 ± 0.96% Vs 5.98 ± 0.15% ) after 24 hr incubation of LPS. We further determined whether the anti-inflammatory effect was via Heat Shock Protein 70 (HSP70) and Toll-Like Receptor 4 (TLR4) pathway. Results showed that HSP70 expression increased and TLR4 expression decreased in lavender essential oil treatment after 24 hr incubation of LPS, suggesting that lavender essential oil induced HSP70 expression which attenuates LPS-induced TLR4 mobilization to inflammation. The underlying mechanisms are to be elucidated. Interestingly, linalool was not major component in local Lavender essential oil supercritical fluid extracted by supercritical carbon dioxide ( 250 atm,45℃ ).

Discussion on effectiveness of May Chang essential oil and Roman Chamomile hydrosol on relieving symptoms for cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy / 利用山雞椒精油及羅馬洋甘菊純露對癌症患者化療期間症狀困擾改善之研究DING CAI CING, 丁采晴 January 2015 (has links)
碩士 / 中華科技大學 / 健康科技研究所在職專班 / 103 / Alternative medicine is becoming more popular as it comprises concepts of both conventional and preventive medicine. With the stressful modern day lifestyle leading to hormonal and metabolic imbalances, cancer rate has also been on the increasing trend. Studies have shown that aromatherapy might have health benefits such as promote cell recovery, relief from anxiety and improve the immune system. This study discusses the effectiveness of May Chang essential oil and Roman chamomile hydrosol on relieving symptoms that cancer patients may suffer from chemotherapy. It also explores how symptom-relief has an impact on patients’ physical and mental health, and quality of life. This was achieved through having physical contact and observations during aromatherapy sessions with the patients. Questionnaires were provided to the patients to enquire symptoms that they may be suffering from. Moreover, how symptoms have been improved with aromatherapy massage during the chemotherapy periods were also documented. Results showed using May Chang essential oil and Roman chamomile hydrosol improve chemotherapy-related symptoms. They also suggest that aromatherapy does not only improve symptoms but also contribute to boosting patient’s confidence and self-healing power. This in turn leads to more positive attitude from the patients and helps them pick up passion and motivation towards life.

The prescription of essential oils on the quality of sleep and quality of life in female workers / 不同處方精油對職業婦女睡眠品質與生活品質探討Wen-Ni HSU, 徐文旎 January 2015 (has links)
碩士 / 國立臺北護理健康大學 / 運動保健研究所 / 104 / The purpose of this study was to explore the effectiveness of aromatherapy intervention on improving sleep quality and quality of life for female workers. An experimental study of three groups measured before and after aromatherapy was conducted. One hundred and two female workers between 24-55 years old were recruited in Taipei city. We used randomized controlled trial to assign research subjects. The participants were divided into three groups: the control group with 36 females, one experimental group of Lavender essential oil with 32 females and another experimental group of the blended essential oil(Lavender、Origanum marjorna、Clary Sage) with 34 females. A 20 minutes inhalation was performed three times a week at home on two experimental groups. We adopted the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and the Short-Form-36 Health Survey (SF-36) as research tools. Chi-square test and Generalized estimating equation were used for data analysis. The results indicated that after 4 weeks’ inhalation, the experimental group of Lavender essential oil showed a significant improvement in sleep quality; the experimental group of blended essential oil showed a significant improvement in both sleep quality and quality of life. However, comparing the blended essential oil group with the single essential oil group, there was a good synergistic effect of blended essential oil on sleep quality and quality of life. This suggests that 4 weeks inhalation of the blended essential oil can improve quality of sleep and quality of life on female workers. This conclusion may be a reference to the choices of essential oil for the public and aromatherapists.
