The purpose with this report is to make a contribution to Bodycote heat treatments workshop in Värnamo, how to introduce, establish and constantly improve its environmental system. The rapport will help Bodycote with there certifying in ISO 14001: s demand standard. Organizations who continuously work with environmental issues have a lot to gain. Two things an active environmental development process will convey are, building of thrust within the circle of customers, and great financial savings. An increasingly numbers of organizations realize the importance to introduce a functioning environmental system into their activity. The investment in a functional environmental system normally has a pay back time in just a few years. A perusal was carried out of the current documents and routines in the environmental system of the workshop. This perusal has later been presented through comments and by proposals to improvements. The result of the perusal showed that there are certain areas of the environmental system that not are properly fulfilled by the standard demands. For example the guaranteed concern for the important environmental aspects, when the system is established, introduced and supported. The problem is rooted in the lack of information documented by the organization. There shall be a list documented over the most important environmental aspects. Other important demands that the standard proclaim, is the comprehensive and the detailed environmental goals. These goals are not established, introduced or supported. Each environmental goal shall have an achievement plan, plans that are yet not active or documented. According to the demands in standard, the workshop shall guarantee that the measurement of environmental performance is performed in a proper way. A routine on these demands was not found during the perusal. The conclusion of the perusal is that the most of the criteria’s in the standard is fulfilled by Värnamo workshop. To succeed with the certifying, the workshop shall especially look at demands concerning the important environmental aspects, the comprehensive and the detailed environmental goals. These demands are vital through out the whole environmental system. <p>The purpose of this study has been to examine whether the bottom fauna of the stream Stensjöån, has been negatively influenced since the harvesting of peat began on the nearby peat moss Skäftesmyr or not. Comparison has been made with the results of index calculations from earlier examinations in the stream, two calculated indexes has been made, Danish fauna index and ASPT-index. The sampling was made with the kick sampling method, SS-EN 27 828. Three locations were chosen for the examination, one upstream from the peat moss, one just downstream from where the brook from the peat moss joins Stensjöån and a third location near the outlet of the stream to the lake Stensjön. The samples were sorted and the found animals identified to the taxonomic level required for the calculation of the two indexes. The results showed that two locations (Ulvsnäs and Axlarp) had unchanged very good index values, but the location near brook from the peat moss showed signs of negative influence. If it is the harvesting of peat on the peat moss that has been the cause of the negative influence or not is not covered in this study.</p> / <p>Undersökningen har syftat till att se om bottenfaunan i Stensjön och dess tillflöde Bokån har utsatts för någon negativ påverkan i jämförelse med tidigare undersökningar i avseende på beräkningar av Danskt faunaindex och ASPT-index sedan brytningen av torv inleddes på Skäftesmyr februari 2007. Detta undersöktes genom provtagning av bottenfaunan i enlighet med den så kallade sparkmetoden, SS-EN 27 828. Tre lokaler användes i undersökningen, där en lokal låg uppströms om Säftesmyr, en vid utloppet från Skäftesmyr och den tredje nedströms liggande punkten vid åns utlopp i Stensjön. Proverna sorterades och djuren identifierades till den taxonomiska nivå som krävdes av respektive grupp för att kunna göra indexberäkningarna. Danskt faunaindex och ASPT-index beräknades för de tre provtagningslokalerna, varav två lokaler (Axlarp och Ulvsnäs) gav oförändrat mycket bra värden, enligt naturvårdsverkets klassificering (Naturvårdsverket, 1999). Lokalen vid utloppet från Skäftesmyr uppvisade tecken på störning. Om störningen beror på torvbrytningen eller andra orsaker omfattas inte av denna undersökning.</p>

Today's urban centers become denser, which contributes to higher demands on sound and noise. It is therefore highly relevant to build homes with good sound environment while maintaining living space. This thesis aimed to reduce the current concrete walls and see how the mass law affects the reduction index value and flanking transmissions. Handmade calculations were calculated according to the Swedish standard SS-EN 21354-1, where only air sound was calculated. Calculations we­­­re performed on wall elements with different weights and thicknesses, and compared with results from Bastian. In Bastian calculations of flanking transmissions were also made, this was made to see the impact of the flanking transmission when changing the mass per unit area. Mass law's impact was examined by flanking transmission and the result shows that they are not affected as long as the ratio between the thickness and the density remains the same. A questionnaire survey was conducted to determine the actual sound experience; this questionnaire was conducted on three concrete buildings in Växjö. Results from hand calculations, Bastian and the questionnaire were analyzed and joined. The mass law affects flanking transmissions very little and therefore a conclusion is drawn that more action is needed and not only improvement of individual elements and how they are connected. Results indicate that today's apartment partitions do well for airborne sound between rooms. In the future this could lead to selection of thinner walls. / Dagens stadskärnor blir tätare och detta bidrar till att högre krav ställs på ljud och buller. Det är därför högaktuellt att bygga bostäder med god ljudmiljö och maximal boyta.  Examensarbetets syfte var att minska dagens lägenhetsavskiljande betongväggar och se hur masslagen påverkar reduktionstalet samt flanktransmissionen. Handberäkningarna är utförda enligt svensk standard SS-EN 21354-1 där enbart luftljud beräknades. Samtliga beräkningar utfördes på väggelement med olika ytvikter och tjocklekar och jämfördes senare med resultat från Bastian. I Bastian beräknades även flanktransmissioner, detta för att se flanktransmissionens inverkan vid ändring av ytvikt. Masslagens inverkan granskades och resultatet visar att flanktransmissionen ej påverkas så länge förhållandet mellan tjockleken och densiteten förblir densamma. En enkätsundersökning utfördes för att bestämma den verkliga ljudupplevelsen, denna undersökning utfördes på tre betonghus i Växjö. Resultat från handberäkningar, Bastian samt enkäten analyserades och sammanställdes. Då masslagen inverkar på flanktransmissionen kan en slutsats dras att det behövs fler åtgärder än enbart förbättring av enskilda element samt hur dessa kopplas ihop. De sammanfogade resultaten pekar på att dagens lägenhetsavskiljande väggar klarar sig bra för luftburet ljud mellan olika lägenheter. Det skulle i framtiden kunna innebära att tunnare väggar väljs, med ökad densitet och bibehållen ljudklass.

Why do ordinary individuals participate in mass violence perpetrated against civilians? That is the question I will attempt to answer in the following paper. I consider these men ordinary to the extent that the majority was not socially deviant. Looking at the case of Nazi Germany, two groups stand out as good case studies: the SS Einsatzgruppen and the SS cadres in the Death camps. The following analysis will focus on the motivations of these men to commit mass murder. I argue for a causal sequence of action, beginning with the onset of Nazi ideology, further followed by the dehumanization of the victim and the brutalization of the perpetrator. I will demonstrate how the ideology present during German interwar society influenced these men into participation. Dehumanization and brutalization are complimentary factors that push these men into action.

Guarino Guarini's SS. Sindone Chapel and its relic offer the occasion to contemplate the paradox of the Incarnation in architecture--a dialectic of presence and absence. The thesis begins with a return to the Gospel accounts of the Empty Tomb, and examines the tradition of reliquary and martyria which the Chapel is inscribed in. The Incarnation theme is then traced to the late seventeenth century context of the Chapel and is considered in the Counter-Reformation context of Turin. The architectural organization of the theme of presence and absence is then explored in the Chapel. In Part II, an examination of Architettura Civile, Guarini's treatise on architecture, seeks to understand the theory of parallel projection (ortografia) with regards to the Chapel's themes. In the last stage Guarini's philosophical treatise sheds some interesting light on ortografia--Presence and absence weave an architectural idea, a geometrical theory, a theological mystery.
