How well is co-management working? Perspectives, partnerships and power sharing along the way to an Indigenous Protected Area on Girringun country

The direction of this research is directed by the question ‘How well is co-management working?’ within the context of the arrangements between government agencies and an Indigenous organization. The Girringun Aboriginal Corporation represents the interests of nine Traditional Owner groups and has been involved in working through regional natural resources and protected areas partnerships with government over many years. These partnerships include an Indigenous ranger unit, Australia’s first Traditional Use of Marine Resources Agreement, and the plans for an Indigenous Protected Area, which will be the first over a mainstream multi-tenure area, as well as the first to incorporate both land and sea country. Girringun country is located in Northern Queensland Australia, at the coastal interface of the Wet Tropics and Great Barrier Reef eco regions, which are World Heritage Areas represented by their respective authorities. Other tenures include public freehold lands, State forests and reserves, and National parks.

Para tanto, torna-se necessário o entendimento e a aplicação dos princípios do Sistema de Produção Enxuta, desenvolvido na Toyota Motor Co., que aspira a total eliminação das perdas existentes em todo o sistema, assim como o uso de metodologias enxutas, que ajudem as empresas a atingir suas metas e obter vantagem competitiva a partir do processo de desenvolvimento de seus produtos. Enfatize-se o uso de ferramentas importantes, como a engenharia simultânea e o co-design, que integram a estrutura do desenvolvimento de produto, fazendo com que seu lead time seja sensivelmente reduzido. Ce travail de thèse porte précisément sur la prise en charge du matériel embarqué dans la modélisation de l'application temps-réel. Afin d'améliorer le développement du matériel et de faciliter la communication des décisions architecturales au flot logiciel, nous avons adopté l'ingénierie dirigée par les modèles dans la conception, simulation et implantation de la plateforme matérielle. En effet, nous avons défini un langage de modélisation HRM (Hardware Resource Model) pour la description de plateformes matérielles sous différentes vues et à différents niveaux de détail. Nous avons ensuite conçu une méthodologie de modélisation du matériel en HRM pour assister tout utilisateur dans la construction de modèles de plateformes. Nous avons également développé un outillage complet et automatisé pour la simulation des plateformes matérielles ainsi modélisées. Enfin, nous décrivons un processus d'unification entre HRM et le standard d'implantation du matériel IP-XACT. Pour mieux prendre en charge le modèle de la plateforme matérielle dans la conception du système temps-réel, nous avons spécifiés des règles et des contraintes d'allocation qui régissent les placements des entités logicielles sur les ressources matérielles. Puis nous avons proposé des mécanismes d'adéquation pour adapter des configurations à priori inadéquates. Pour finir et illustrer l'agencement de toutes ces contributions dans le cadre d'un même processus de développement, nous avons développé une chenille de robots unicycles qui roulent sans glisser sur un plan horizontal. Il s'agit d'un système qui est à la fois temps-réel, embarqué, multi-tâches, distribué, répétitif et paramétrable. / This PhD work focuses on the hardware support when modeling real-time systems. To improve the development of hardware and to communicate architectural intends to the software flow, we adopted the model driven engineering for design, simulation and implementation of hardware platforms. We have first defined a modeling language HRM (Hardware Resource Model) that describes hardware platforms with different views and at different levels of detail. Then, we developed a methodology based on HRM to help users in the construction of their platforms models. We have also developed automated tools for the simulation of these hardware models. Finally, we provide an efficient process of unification between HRM and the recent standard of hardware implementation IP-XACT. As our purpose is to take into consideration the hardware properties during the system design, we have specified rules and constraints that govem allocation of software entities onto hardware resources. After that, we proposed mechanisms to adapt inadequate configurations. Finally, we illustrate all these contributions within the same case study, which is a robots chain. It is realtime, embedded, multi-tasking, distributed, repetitive and configurable system.

Molecular dynamics simulation of dissolution of cellulose in supercritical fluids and mixtures of cosolvents/supercritical fluids / Simulation par dynamique moléculaire de la dissolution de la cellulose dans les fluides supercritiques et les mélanges cosolvents/fluides supercritiques

La cellulose est le polymère naturel le plus abondant. Cependant son utilisation est limitée par sa faible dissolution due à des liaisons hydrogènes intra et inter moléculaires. Jusqu’à aujourd’hui des solvants toxiques sont utilisés dans les procédés de dissolutions de la cellulose. Par conséquent de nouveaux solvants pour la dissolution de la cellulose ont été intensivement étudiés comme solutions de rechange de ces procédés polluants. Une des solutions est d’utiliser la technologie des fluides supercritiques utilisant le dioxyde de carbone. Malheureusement, la cellulose reste insoluble dans le CO2 dans les conditions supercritiques et il est donc important d'étudier un mélange binaire d’un co-solvant (organique ou liquide ionique) et le CO2 pour le développement d’un nouveau procédé. Cependant la connaissance du point fondamental des paramètres contrôlant le processus de dissolution dans ces fluides ralentit le développement de l’utilisation de cet outil propre et peu couteux en énergie. Nous avons donc utilisé la simulation de dynamique moléculaire pour caractériser le processus de dissolution de la cellulose dans ces fluides. Pour cela, nous nous sommes intéressés aux fluides supercritiques purs, puis aux mélanges des fluides supercritiques avec un co-solvant et enfin nous avons étudié le processus de dissolution de modèle de celluloses et de caractériser l’effet de la pression, la température, la composition du mélange ainsi que les propriétés structurales de ces modèles de cellulose sur le processus de dissolution. / Cellulose is insoluble in neat supercritical CO2 and the main objective of this work was to investigate mixtures of scCO2 with polar cosolvents for the development of new processing technologies for the cellulose dissolution. The objective is achieved by studying the dissolution process of monomer of cellulose and its various polymorphs. The effect of the t/d parameters on the dissolution process was analyzed by molecular dynamics simulation. We begin with analyzing structure of pure supercritical fluids and mixtures of supercritical fluids/cosolvents using unconvential tools: Voronoi tesselations and nearest neighbours approach.Thermodynamics of the mixtures of scCO2/cosolvents is analysed in order to check the validity of the potential models used in our simulations for what the method of thermodynamic integration to calculate the energy, entropy and free energy of mixing was applied. To analyze the dissolution of cellulose we started from studying the solvation free energy of cellobiose(cellulose monomer) which was calculated from molecular dynamics simulations using free energy perturbation method. The influence of conformational degrees of freedom on solvation free energy of cellobiose was also considered.Finally, the direct dissolution of cellulose crystals models in well-known good cellulose solvent(1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride) and then considered supercritical solvents. It was found that various mixtures of CO2 with cosolvents do not dissolve cellulose but they can considerably affect its crystalline structure whereas ammonia fluid can dissolve cellulose and this process is significantly influenced by temperature, pressure and density.
