Van Crevelds teori om ledning : En logisk prövning

Denna uppsats analyserar och prövar den ledningsteori som är framlagd av Martin vanCreveld i boken ”Ledning i krig”. Prövningen tar sin utgångspunkt i Poppers metod omteoriprövning. Van Crevelds slutsatser testas först internt och sen överses teoribilningenslogiska form. Slutligen jämförs slutsatserna med andra teorier om ledning ochorganisation. Resultatet visar att Crevelds teorier har sämre intern korrelation än extern.Orsaken bedöms främst vara hans fria hållning och låg precision i egen metod.

Smith on Self-Command and Moral Judgment

In A Treatise of Human Nature, David Hume argues that moral judgments are the product of sentiment. The mechanism of sympathy allows individuals to enter into a common point of view in order to produce judgments that are truly moral, and not merely self-interested. Hume argues that the common point of view is the standard that moral judgments are subjected to. I argue that the common point of view is an inadequate standard for distinguishing between proper and improper moral judgments. The common point of view is inadequate because it is subjective and unreflective. In The Theory of Moral Sentiments, Adam Smith offers an account of moral judgment that has an adequate standard for distinguishing between proper and improper moral judgments. Smith avoids the problems with Hume’s account due to his distinction between partial and impartial spectators and the role that self-command plays in his theory of moral judgment.

Flexible role-handling in command and control systems

This is also the approach taken within military command and control systems. Military operations are often characterized by frictions and uncontrollable factors. People being absent when needed are one such problem. This thesis has examined how roles are handled in three Swedish command and control systems. The result is a model for handling vacant roles with the possibility, in some situations, to override ordinary rules.

Performance and Shared Understanding in Mixed C2-Systems / Prestation och delad lägesförståelse i C2-system

OBJECTIVE: This thesis had two purposes. The main one was to examine how mixed conditions affect a Command & Control (C2) system, particularly in terms of shared understanding, situation awareness (SA), performance and workload. Mixed conditions refer here to when subsystems of a larger C2-system differ in terms of capabilities, particularly those capabilities influencing the understanding of a situation e.g. sensors or communication, which could affect the C2-capabilities when working toward a common goal. The second purpose of this thesis was to investigate a newly developed tool for measuring shared understanding, Shared Priorities, in terms of validity and usefulness. METHOD: A number of hypotheses were constructed and investigated by a controlled experiment using a microworld, C3Fire, where two-man teams fought a simulated forest fire. The independent variable manipulated was the type of support system used. One condition used one computer interface per participant, the second was mixed conditions where one participant used the computer interface and one used a paper map, and the last condition was both participants using a paper map. Different questionnaires developed to measure SA, workload etc. was used to measure the dependent variables. RESULTS: The statistical analysis performed on the collected data showed that the performance and SA was comparatively better when both participants used the computer interface than the mixed condition, which in turn was better than when both participants used a paper map. For workload and teamwork, no differences between the mixed condition and the dual map condition were found. As for the Shared Priorities measurement, no differences were found between any of the conditions. CONCLUSION: A C2-system in which some additional capabilities are introduced for some but not all subsystems may not benefit in some regards, e.g. workload and teamwork, but could improve in others, e.g. SA and performance. A Structural Equation Model (SEM) shows that the theoretical constructs of SA, workload, teamwork and performance are related and affect each other, so that the workload of the system negatively affects the teamwork and SA, while the teamwork may affect SA positively and a high SA enables high performance.

Vibration Reduction Using Command Generation in Formation Flying Satellites

The precise control of spacecraft with flexible appendages is extremely difficult. The complexity of this task is magnified many times when several flexible spacecraft must be controlled precisely and collaboratively, as in formation flying. Formation flying requires a group of spacecraft to fly in a desired trajectory while maintaining both relative positions and velocities with respect to each other. This work enhances two current state-of-the-art formation flying algorithms, specifically leader-follower and virtual-structure architectures. First, a flexible satellite model is integrated into each of these architectures. Second, input shaping is used to generate the satellites desired trajectories, thereby enhancing the performance of the system. This dissertation addresses key issues regarding the application of command generation techniques to flexible satellites controlled with formation flying control architectures. The temporal tracking and the trajectory tracking of each architecture are examined as well as the vibration characteristics of the formation satellites. Design procedures for applying trajectory shaping for the leader-follower and virtual-structure architecture are developed. Experiments performed on a flexible satellite testbed verify key simulated results.

Integrated design of NURBS and DDA interpolators for motion control

Nowadays almost all products used in our daily life are made in pursuit of streamline and good look, including mobiles, motorcycles, aerospace and 3C industry; therefore, how to shorten process time and enhance the smoothness of the product¡¦s surface has become one of the important issues. However, the process method of traditional CNC machines only can support line and circular interpolations but cannot accept motion along curve and circular paths. Therefore, the traditional CNC machines have to rely on CAM, a method to generate the NC code called G-code and M-code by approximating many tiny linear or circular segments, to plan the cutter paths. But this approximating method requires higher transmission speed; it also occupies huge memory capacity and makes the velocity of machine tool discontinuous, in order to difficultly meet the requirement of high speed and better precision. In order to solve the above problems, this thesis adopts the NC code created by CAD/CAM¡¦s NURBS curve which called NURBS-code, making CNC machines have the function of processing NURBS curve interpolations to improve the defect of the traditional processing and thus reach the goal of high speed and better precision. Furthermore, due to NURBS interpolators are always implemented by the controller. This always makes CNC machine become very expensive; meanwhile, adjusting parameters is very troublesome. Therefore this thesis also provides the intergrated method of NURBS and DDA real-time interpolator to make the application in the easy way without the consideration of controller design for AC driver.

The space warfare, for the purpose of controlling the space, finally comes on the stage. Under the influence of the competitors between the U.S.A. and U.S.S.R. in the field of military prowess, China started its development of space technology in 1956. After 50 years passed, Chain has become a nation of potential space warfare. Its prowess in space warfare is found on its advanced and firmly established space science and technology. Following the U.S.A. and the U.S.S.R. China has build up its space army which aims at seizing the dominion of the future space warfare. Evidently, every great nation, for the purposes of gaining supreme authority in the warfare in this century, has fully engaged in building up its prowess in the command of the space. This essay aims at study China¡¦s development in space warfare which is founded on the concept of the scramble for the command of the space. Such studies help to understand China¡¦s recognition of space warfare, its development of space army, its research and development in space science and technology, its present structure and equipment for space warfare and its ambitions and directions in the future space warfare . The study of this essay, which are based on several perspectives, will help to provide a referential background for the observation of the future development of space warfare of China.
