A Study of Organizational Knowledge Management Implementation Process from an Knowledge Flow Perspective

Lin, Shuai-fu 29 March 2006 (has links)
Knowledge management is one of main sources of competitive advantages. It said in a KPMG(1998)'s survey that the obstacle of knowledge flows between knowledge sources and knowledge receivers is the biggest bottleneck of knowledge exploitation. In the domain of knowledge management, there are prolific academic studies about knowledge flow. However, lots of them focus on the factors infecting knowledge flows between knowledge sources and receivers. Fewer researches discuss about the process and context of knowledge flows while implementing knowledge management in an organization. In this thesis, we try to research the process of knowledge flows while implementing knowledge management in an organization in order to understand how these knowledge flows affect the organizational learning results upon the knowledge of knowledge management. We try to answer how knowledge of knowledge management(KKM) flows, what the processes are, and find out the accelerating factors and obstacles of these knowledge flows. We use theoretical sampling to select the companies implementing knowledge management and grounded theory to analysis the processes and context of knowledge flows while implementing knowledge management. After drawing a serious of figures of knowledge flows and inductive analysis, we get three discoveries: 1. The 3 stages of the KKM flows. 2. The 8 kinds of KKM flows and their importance in each KKM flow stages. 3. The accelerating factors and obstacles KKM flows in each KKM flow.

A Study of KM Performance Based on Organizational Learning perspective

Hung, Yi-ju 07 July 2006 (has links)
In the dynamic era, knowledge management is an important means that enterprises show one's talent and maintain the advantage of the competition. If enterprises can manage knowledge well, it can grasp and win the first chance of strength. And in order to maximize the knowledge management effectively, enterprises need to utilize the performance index to weigh the effect, and then improve it. In enterprises, the goal of organizational learning is creating knowledge and using knowledge to solve problems. So organizational learning closely linked with knowledge management. This study attempts to investigate the impact on KM performance based on the organizational learning perspective. As enterprises want to improve the performance index of knowledge management, they only need to find out key factors to the performance index, and then improve it. Furthermore, different KM strategies can help to find out influences on KM performance. When the KM performances of enterprises are not satisfactory, enterprises need to inspect the KM strategy to adopt suitably and adjust the KM strategy accordingly. This study also investigates how organizational learning enabler impacts organizational learning. This study used questionnaire investigation to prove the research model is fit or not, and used ANOVA and regression analysis to test all hypotheses. The result of the study shows that organizational learning has influence on knowledge management performance. Organization position and task complexity will enable organizational learning, and through different KM strategies, the impacts of KM performance based on organizational learning are different.

Wu, Kun-Ju 13 July 2007 (has links)
With the arrival of the knowledge economy, the management of all enterprises attempt to increase the efficiency of organizing with information management, drive innovation, bring up a new wave of information management. Grow up and circulate the increase of the demand fast with information in the management activity of knowledge, the storing, searching, circulating and sharing of knowledge must be dependent on information science and technology to help, even on the knowledge innovation, information science and technology can also offer the function of deducing, summing up and making up etc., so a lot of enterprises will create knowledge management system while promoting the management engineering of knowledge, regarding KMS as the core of enterprise's knowledge management activity, in order to promote benefit carried on in enterprise's knowledge management activity. This research will regard staff of one international famous semiconductor company as case study, consider it with IS success model which announced by DeLone & McLean (2003) , and Wang Yu-Min (2003)" KMS success model " to try to set up and study the structure, take ' MES ' systematic field as an example, analyse its field demand situation, knowledge of administrative system, is it probe into with actual case relevant enterprise benefit and staff, knowledge of administrative system use to close of connecting with satisfaction to come, appraise from knowledge / information quality, system benefit, use, systematic quality and use satisfaction aspect systematically, and probe into the employee of enterprises to the analysis of using satisfaction of administrative system of knowledge. The research approach adopted in this research is an investigation method of the questionnaire, to verifying according to theory and research hypothesis by using the multiple-regression-analysis. We can get the result from the data that all these major factors incluing knowledge/ information quality, valuation of KMS benefits, system quality, system use has positive effects on the KMS satisfaction.

Using Bayesian Networks for Discovering Temporal-State Transitions in Hemodialysis

Chiu, Chih-Hung 02 August 2000 (has links)
In this thesis, we discover knowledge from workflow logs with temporal-state transitions in the form of Bayesian networks. Bayesian network is a graphical model that encodes probabilistic relationships among variables of interest, and easily incorporates with new instances to maintain rules up to date. The Bayesian networks can predict, communicate, train, and offer more alternatives to make better decisions. We demonstrate the proposed method in representing the causal relationships between medical treatments and transitions of patient¡¦s physiological states in the Hemodialysis process. The discovery of clinical pathway patterns of Hemodialysis can be used for predicting possible paths for an admitted patient, and facilitating medical professionals to control the Hemodialysis machines during the Hemodialysis process. The reciprocal knowledge management can be extended from the results in future research.

Abstract Nonaka and Takeuchi¡¦s book ¡§The Knowledge Creating Company. ¡¨ crystallized the intricacy of knowledge management and its importance in the organization¡¦s long- term success and survival. However, the lack of empirical work in this area has not advanced our understanding of this important phenomenon. Previous studies have focused on limited aspects of the overall knowledge management process. As a result, our understanding of knowledge management is limited to certain micro-level aspects, rather understanding the whole process. This research creatively employs Knowledge Value Chain model as a knowledge management framework. How to enrich knowledge management to promote innovation and develop new product is one of the most important issue to business competition. This research will study the impact of knowledge management to the performance of new product development activities. The ability of technological resource management and industrial technological competitive intensity are the two factors which will be consider as interfacial variables in the research design. Follow by questionnaire survey, statistic analysis is used to test several hypotheses. Finally, a knowledge management procedure will be proposed. We expect the results of this study will not only help us to understand the theoretical implication but also the implement procedure.

A Study of Knowledge Management in the New Product development --- Taking Transportation Vihicle Industry as Example.

CHEN, Fu-An 30 July 2001 (has links)
This resreach discusses how the organization knowledge establishes itself in different steps during the process of developing a new product. The four crucial force (including technology push¡Bmarket pull¡Bfocus strategy¡Bcompetitive advantage) which affects the development of a new product function basing on the fundemental models of Leonard-Barton (1995) and the four models of Nonaka(1994). The force will interact with one another and create the spiraling of the organization knowledge. The research chooses a leading transportation manufacturer as the study case. The four steps of developing its new product are integrated into an individual case. The organization knowledge is accumulated, communicated, applied, integraged, and innovated while executing the business, applying the resource of technology, being inspired by the culture of the enterprise, as well as cooporateing with the other companies. We learned from the research that we need to understand the mechanics of the organization knowledge and to know how to apply the agent of the knowledge if we need the knowledge to be fast and unexhausted. We are to create the four force of a new product, as well as the mechanics of selecting the organization knowledge and the right direction to which the knowledge will guide us. The organization base cooperates with the execution of business, and each individual takes his or her part in the case. Thus the personal and the social knowledge can be combined and carried out effectively and established into systematic graph via socializaiton, internalization, externalization, combination. Therefore, the model of creating the organization knowledge of enterprise is formed step by step. The organization knowledge can be the core potencial and asset of the enterprise, and it will be advantage while competing with other enterprises. As for the new product, it is the full presentation of the organization knowledge of an enterprice.
