On rings with commuting ideals

Davis, Jonathan Michael 29 November 2012 (has links)
This report is a summarization and extension of previous work done by Dr. Efraim Armendariz, University of Texas at Austin, and Dr. Henry E. Heatherly, University of Lousiana Lafayette, on the topic of rings with commuting ideals. Some of these authors’ results are extended to one-sided ideals instead of two-sided ideals. Topics discussed include homomorphic images of rings with commuting left ideals, finite direct products of rings with commuting left ideals, rings of n x n matrices over a ring with commuting left ideals, constructing rings with commuting ideals using an idempotent, and simple rings with commuting ideals over polynomials in X. Examples are given to illustrate some properties of rings with commuting ideals. A short a discussion regarding the inclusion of ring theory in the secondary mathematics classroom is also included. / text

G-domains, G-ideals, and Hilbert Rings

Draper, Ruben P. 08 1900 (has links)
The problem with which this investigation is concerned is that of determining the properties of the following: a particular type of integral domain, the G-domain; a type of prime ideal, the G-ideal; and a special type of ring, the Hilbert ring.

Ideais diferenciais em álgebras finitamente geradas / Differential ideals in finitely generated algebras

Medeiros, Luan Benzi 18 May 2018 (has links)
The main goal of this dissertation is to study the behavior of differential ideals regarding important themes of commutative algebra such as primary decomposition and localization. We will see that, given a differential ideal in a noetherian ring of caracteristic zero, its associated primes ideals will also be differentials and we will exhibit a primary decomposition whose components will be differentials too. In relation to localization, we will have an equivalence of the concepts of differential ideals in the given ring and in the localized ring, that is, an ideal is differential if, and only if, its localization is differential too.

The research of Hwang You-Di's music educational ideals

Jheng, Guang-huei 23 August 2005 (has links)
The purpose of this research is to record Professor Hwang¡¦s lifetime story, and to confer his music educational ideals. In order to let the splendor of the sage obvious for ever, and set an example for next generation to act up to. For this reason, this research applied qualitative research by using two ways of interviews and document analysis. So as to go on a pilgrimage to Professor Hwang¡¦s plentiful and applausive life, and explore his erudite and amiable music educational ideals. The main results of this study concluded five chapters: Chapter One is a preface to illustrate research motive, purpose, method, and thesis framework. Chapter Two and Three is to display Professor Hwang¡¦s lifetime story, and music educational conduct. Chapter Four is to confer Professor Hwang¡¦s music educational ideals. Chapter Five is to draw conclusions. According to this research, we can find Professor Hwang¡¦s life course is like a developing history of Chinese contemporary music, and his music educational ideals, seeming so amiable but remarkable, are blended into his regular life.

Hilbert Functions in Monomial Algebras

Hoefel, Andrew Harald 25 July 2011 (has links)
In this thesis, we study Hilbert functions of monomial ideals in the polynomial ring and the Kruskal-Katona ring. In particular, we classify Gotzmann edge ideals and, more generally, Gotzmann squarefree monomial ideals. In addition, we discuss Betti numbers of Gotzmann ideals and measure how far certain edge ideals are from Gotzmann. This thesis also contains a thorough account the combinatorial relationship between lex segments and Macaulay representations of their dimensions and codimensions.
