Limited research describes the impact of ethnic groups and mores, especially those of Asian ethnicities, on the development of a global queering theory of sexual-identity development. The purpose of this grounded-theory study was to investigate the sexual-identity development of homosexuals in a non-Western collectivist culture and the extent of influence Western gay expatriates have on Chinese gay males' sexual-identity development. Five identity-development models served as the theoretical foundations of this study: Cass, Troiden, McCarn and Fassinger, D'Augelli, Gock, and the conceptual theory of global queering. NVivo aided in data organization, while coding and analysis were applied to the data. Individual, Skype interviews were held with 22 Chinese gay men. Participants explained how Western influence changed and was adapted to cultural norms even when no similarities emerged in the combining cultures. This research increases understanding of collectivist cultures and lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) communities embedded in them. Understanding can create positive social change affecting the coming-out process, cultural diffusion, and same-sex couples in collectivist cultures. This study may spur a call for additional research into LGBT communities globally on sexual-identity development, particularly in relation to race and culture.

A study was conducted at North Cache Junior High School in Richmond, Utah, during the 1967-68 school year to determine an effective method of predicting which students would be able to succeed in algebra in the ninth grade. Eighth grade marks in mathematics, two algebra aptitude test scores, and student self-success ratings were compared with the final algebra grades to determine the best single predictor of success in algebra and to determine the best combined predictors of success. The best single predictor of success in algebra was the student's final mark in eighth grade mathematics. The best combined predictors of success included the eighth grade marks in mathematics and the Survey Test of Algebra Aptitude scores.

Existing research has revealed a robust relationship between high religiosity and negative attitudes towards sexual minorities. To date, however, there have been few studies investigating this relationship within the membership of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the LDS Church). The unique history, doctrine, and organization of this religion, along with its large size, rapid growth, and sizable influence, indicate that a study of homophobia among church members will provide additional information about the relationship between religiosity and negative attitudes. These data will shed additional light on the make-up and nature of homophobia, offer insight into the relationship between religious and homophobic attitudes and behaviors, and better inform mental health professionals working with individuals identifying as members of the LDS Church, as members of a sexual minority, or as members of both groups. The following research includes the administration of a survey to college-age LDS church members gathering data regarding several dimensions of LDS religiosity, several dimensions of attitudes towards sexual minorities, and demographic data. Subsequent analysis of the gathered data has clarified the nature of the relationship between the measured dimensions of LDS religiosity and homophobia, specifically, that overall LDS religiosity correlates positively with negative attitudes towards sexual minorities, and that some individual dimensions of religiosity, particularly commitment to the LDS Church, are particularly predictive of negative attitudes.

The purpose of this study was 1} to compare the personality response patterns of juvenile offenders for effect on parole performance following four different kinds of institutional treatment, and 2) to investigate what correlation employment may have with parole performance. The personality response patterns investigated were three levels of interpersonal maturity and six selected personality subtypes, as measured by the Jesness Inventory and the Behavior Checklist {Self Appraisal Form). The four institutional treatment strategies were 1) Behavior Modification, 2) Transactional Analysis, 3) Vocational Training, and 4) Forestry Camp Work Experience.

Studien syftar till att skapa en djupare förståelse över individers upplevelser av ett tidigare missbruk och dess inverkan på livet i efterhand och avsåg att besvara frågeställningen: Hur upplever individer som varit i missbruk att detta har influerat deras perspektiv på livet? Då upplevelsen av ett missbruk tenderar att vara en komplex upplevelse så valdes hermeneutiken som metodansats. Den hermeneutiska metodansatsen gjorde det möjligt att kunna få en bredare och djupare förståelse kring fenomenet. Tio dialogiska samtal genomfördes med före detta missbrukare som varit fria från sitt missbruk mellan 3-9 år. Den existentialistiska synen på människans sätt att vara-i-världen med begreppen varat, ångest, skuld, frihet, autenticitet och kriser användes som det teoretiska ramverket för att kunna förstå och tolka upplevelsen hos individer som tidigare missbrukat. Studiens resultat presenteras med en huvudtolkning som lyfter fram att erfarenheten av ett tidigare missbruk leder till ett perspektiv på livet som innefattar äkthet. Individerna som tidigare missbrukat ser och lever idag livet som äkta. De har omfamnat friheten och genom detta valt att möta de känslor som hör livet till, detta gör att de idag kan uppleva äkta känslor och följa sina egna värderingar vilket också genererat i en känsla av kontroll och att de är den personen de själva vill vara idag.
