Diagnóstico em BPM: uma investigação longitudinal sobre os resultados da aplicação da árvore da realidade atual em uma UPC / BPM diagnostic: a longitudinal reserch on the application of the current reality tree in a CRU

Elisa França Leôncio Alves 28 August 2017 (has links)
Among the phases of the Business Process Management (BPM) lifecycle, the process diagnostics phase can facilitate the change in order to support future efforts to increase productivity, standardize the execution of work and create a more efficient work routine. As a diagnostic technique, CRT (Current Reality Tree) is broader because it demonstrates the overall picture of the company\'s situation. The research question that intends to answer with this work is: how the diagnosis of the Current Reality Tree can promote improvements in a Clinical Research Unit (CRU)? The objective is to analyze the relationship between the application of CTR diagnosis and the improvements performed in a UPC. For that, a case study was used as a method in a UPC that used CRT as diagnostic tool for the implementation of organizational improvements. The results of this study present the diagnosis of CRT in a CRU and describe the improvements that occurred in the organization from the application of this technique. In addition, it is identified which BPM success factors contributed to the application of ARA. It is concluded that the use of ARA as a diagnostic technique, besides providing an analysis that considers the real needs of the organization, can be related to the success of the implementation of improvements. This study should provide support to UPC managers concerning to the effectiveness of the administrative practices that may be adopted, and it is important for researchers working with process and BPM diagnoses to introduce the effectiveness of the use of ARA as a technique and to relate the improvements obtained with the critical BPM factors.

Nástroj pro tvorbu spustitelných procesů Flowly / Tool for creating executable processes Flowly

Procházka, Jan January 2017 (has links)
Flowly is a tool for iBPMS packages, as are these intelligent suites for process management nicknamed by Gartner. These are technologies that make it possible to create and execute processes. Development of processes for these platforms goes through standard IT delivery cycle even for trivial and routine processes. Goal of this thesis is to create a tool for creating runnable business processes based on IBM Business Process Manager platform. The tool will allow creation of executable processes without programming or deep technical knowledge. Processes are created using a wizard like configurator in which processes can be drawn, users have ability to add data to the process, notifications, define SLAs and use other features. Tool created within this thesis is a workflow tool, which is a subset of iBPMS suites. The goal of this thesis is achieved by defining general functionalities of workflow tools which lay down basis of functionalities Flowly should contain. Following chapters describe in detail the creation of the tool, from initial analysis and design to technical details of implementation and user documentation. Benefits of the tool lie in simplicity of creating processes in iBPMS suites, increased agility of the company, when the creation and deployment of new process is shifted into the order of days and in massive reduction of cost of routine processes and agendas due to reduced IT involvement.

Agostini, Manuela Rösing 30 September 2010 (has links)
This work uses the Legal Administration, as a tool to guide and lead the legal services organizations toward to innovation and competitiveness, along with Business Process Management (BPM) methodology as an option for sustainable competitive advantage. Based on the application of both approaches together, i.e. Legal Administration and BPM, the aim of this research is to identify main business processes that make up the structure of a law firm. A qualitative-exploratory and quantitative-descriptive nature research was realized based on three main phases. The first phase involves identifying criteria and terminological basis within the context analyzed based on the application of three individual semi-structured interviews. After the identification of the terminology dimensions map, the second phase was the application of a structured questionnaire, which was applied on nine Law Firms, certified on ISO 9001, in Brazil. Based on descriptive statistics the main business processes that define the organizational structure of law firms, as well as their supporting processes were identified. The main business process were grouped in four categories and the support business processes were grouped in six categories.

BPM (Business Process Management) Governance is an aspect often seen as critical to the success of BPM in organizations. This seems to be especially true for the public sector, where efficiency, accountability and transparency (three basic governance principles) must be coordinated. However, governance approaches in BPM have been characterized as complex and imprecise, with quite different views on the subject, in addition to macro level models that provide little help on how to implement it. Moreover, there is a small number of empirical papers describing practical reports on BPM governance. Therefore, there is a lack of consistent and detailed conceptual frameworks and concrete applications that researchers and practitioners can rely on to properly address BPM Governance. In light of such need, this thesis presents a conceptual model to support the implementation of governance in BPM, named BPMG Model. Initially, exploratory case studies were performed to identify barriers and facilitators that impact the deployment of BPM governance in public sector organizations conducting BPM initiatives. It was observed that studied organizations do not precisely understand the concept of BPM governance. The conception of the BPMG model adopted a design-science research approach and also encompassed the development of a software tool that implemented model elements. Both the BPMG Model and the software tool were evaluated by the members of a BPM Office from a Brazilian public organization and by a group of governance experts from different organizations. Evaluation results revealed that the BPMG Model and tool supported BPM practitioners of the organization to develop a more accurate and shared understanding of governance in BPM. In particular, the model was considered as significantly helpful for the implementation of governance principles in the organization.

A Benchmark for ASP Systems: Resource Allocation in Business Processes

Giray, Havur, Cristina, Cabanillas, Axel, Polleres 26 November 2018 (has links) (PDF)
The goal of this paper is to benchmark Answer Set Programming (ASP) systems to test their performance when dealing with a complex optimization problem. In particular, the problem tackled is resource allocation in the area of Business Process Management (BPM). Like many other scheduling problems, the allocation of resources and starting times to business process activities is a challenging optimization problem for ASP solvers. Our problem encoding is ASP Core-2 standard compliant and it is realized in a declarative and compact fashion. We develop an instance generator that produces problem instances of different size and hardness with respect to adjustable parameters. By using the baseline encoding and the instance generator, we provide a comparison between the two award-winning ASP solvers clasp and wasp and report the grounding performance of gringo and i-dlv. The benchmark suggests that there is room for improvement concerning both the grounders and the solvers. Fostered by the relevance of the problem addressed, of which several variants have been described in different domains, we believe this is a solid application-oriented benchmark for the ASP community. / Series: Working Papers on Information Systems, Information Business and Operations

One of the most widely used and documented measurement techniques for obtaining software size is Function Point Analysis (FPA). However, there have been frequently discussions about its applicability to SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) projects, which justifies a choice of the research topic. This document presents the results of a research whose objective was the construction of a proposal to measure SOA and BPM (Business Process Management) softwares through the use of Function Points (PF). A proposal has been developed based on literature review and empirical data analyzes, with was collected from an execution of a real project. The research compare empirical data (from a real-world project) to projections based on FPA, as well on the proposed method. Results demonstrate that the proposed method is suitable to SOA/BPM projects, differently of FPA.

In this scenario, continuous evaluation procedures, compliance with government regulations and industry standards, evolutions in the business domain, stakeholders’ needs, new technologies and economic factors related to globalization pressure are examples of aspects that can foster changes on business processes. The impact of this changing environment is the variation of business processes, in a phenomenon called business process variability. The objective of this research is, therefore, to aggregate relevant studies which address the context of this phenomenon. The studies’ selection was accomplished through a Systematic Literature Review, conducting automatic searches in a set of digital libraries and manual searches in leading conferences and journals in the fields of Business Process Management and Computer Science. In total, 13619 studies were retrieved, from which 80 were classified as relevant. This set of primary studies acted as sources of evidence for answering 3 research questions and their respectively subquestions. From the analysis performed, the study concludes that despite efforts in the literature for managing business process variability, this concept is not clear and well delimited, involving additional aspects and, hence, lacking a structured taxonomy. Contributions of the current work are: to provide valuable information with respect to the main notions in business process variability field and, possible types and inductors of process variability;to identify the main challenges faced by organizations when dealing with this phenomenon and; to examine a set of proposals for process variability management, investigating the existence of tool support and empirical evaluations carried out.

Information Technology and Client Relationship Management in Architecture: Building Competitive Advantage

Shingne, Meeta Sadanand 10 May 2003 (has links)
Architects are increasingly sought after for their abilities to be creative, knowledgeable, and strategic. Excessive concentration on "product" rather than "process" of architecture is challenging the architect's status as a professional. 20th century Information Technology has brought growing competition, shorter timeframes, and an increasingly knowledgeable client, which present challenges to the profession. Can IT be used effectively to manage all stakeholder relationships and how has it impacted the process of "service delivery"? An inability to effectively serve clients may result in potential loss of repeat business, paucity of new clients by referrals, and lack of projects, which directly impacts finances and an overall loss for the firm?s practice. The object of this thesis has been to study the effect of strategic IT deployment on client-architect relationship, in meeting client expectations and the identification of means by which architects can gain competitive advantage in today?s highly demanding market. IT and CRM are envisioned as enablers of a firm's sustainable competitive advantage.
