O futuro no passado: estudo sobre os oráculos na obra de Heródoto / Future in the past: a study of oracles in Herodotuswork

Rabello, Ivonete de Souza 27 June 2013 (has links)
HerodotusHistory has numerous oracles, mostly in Book I. Advancing Diversity in Nonprofit Boards

Doyle, Barbara 01 January 2019 (has links)
Nonprofit organizations play an important role in improving their communities. Their ability to meet community needs can be limited due to lack of diversity in their boards of directors, which can also affect equity, performance, and social justice. Procedures for harmonizing the diversity of nonprofit boards with their served community demographics are not well understood. This Delphi study investigated what strategies and practices nonprofit organizations could employ to promote greater diversity in their boards of directors. The study'€™s conceptual framework was based on the theory of diversity management. Twenty-five participants from various nonprofit boards answered open-ended questions in a 3-round through SurveyMonkey. Secondary data were obtained from each participant'€™s nonprofits to provide insight into their practices, policies, and records. These documents worked as substantiation for participant claims. Analysis of the data revealed 6 themes: getting to know the community, involving the community, widening the network to include more groups of people, accurate assessment of the community, creating representation and gaining insider perspective, and having a pool of candidates and board members fit for the position. These themes show a diversity-based strategy for the overall success of a nonprofit organization, which is based on how effectively a nonprofit board of directors establishes networks and maintains positive relationships with their served communities. The results of this study can foster positive social change by illustrating how increasing the diversity of a nonprofit board can enhance organizational effectiveness, extend the organization'€™s reach, enable the organization to serve its chosen communities better, and reduce socioeconomic inequality through new perspectives.

Analysis of the implementation of an antiretroviral treatment programme in KwaZulu- Natal province

Sengwana, Manyeke Jeanivive January 2019 (has links)
Philosophiae Doctor - PhD / The rapid expansion of the ART programme in South Africa has placed an additional service demand on an already stretched public health infrastructure. The main aim of this study was therefore to analyse the implementation of the ART programme in KwaZulu- Natal province using the Donabedian Model of structure, process and outcome in order to develop an ART delivery model. Ethical approval to conduct this research was issued by the University’s Senate Research Committee. The first phase of the study used a descriptive quantitative approach to review existing data from government departments to analyse the ART programme. A checklist with the list of indicators for the three elements of the study; the structure, process and outcome were used to collect data. A pilot study was conducted and the Cronbach Alpha test was used to determine the rigour of the study. In the second phase, a systematic review of studies on implementation of the existing models of ART programme was conducted using quantitative descriptive approach. The Quality Appraisal Tool was used to determine the validity of the research findings from the literature. In phase 3, both qualitative and quantitative approaches were used to conduct the Delphi study which included a group of experts in the field of HIV and ART programme. Responses from the participants were modified to determine the reliability of the study. The study found that there were structural problems such as shortages of antiretroviral drugs and delays in the return of laboratory results. The systematic literature review found that there were only two community-based ART models in South Africa, namely; the adherence clubs and community-based adherence clubs. These two models of ART delivery were implemented only in Cape Town.

An Assessment Tool and Interactive Simulation for Using Healthcare Personal Protective Equipment

Williams, Camille Kimberley 30 December 2010 (has links)
In healthcare, personal protective equipment (PPE) are sometimes misused due to improper skill acquisition or skill decay before clinical practice. Training is often didactic or web-based but it is unclear whether these methods transfer to effective physical performance. There is no standard method to evaluate these competencies and scheduling or space restrictions can limit physical practice. A Delphi survey produced relevant checklist and global rating items for evaluating use of PPE. Principles from skill learning and human-computer interaction were combined with the survey results to develop an interactive computer-based simulation for procedural practice of these skills. The assessment tool differentiated between experienced and newly-trained users and demonstrated inter-rater reliability. Learners rated their satisfaction with the simulation similar to a provincial online tutorial and pilot studies with the simulation demonstrated that learners practiced for a longer period when using the simulation as compared to the provincial online tutorial.

Chalabi, Chahinaze January 2009 (has links) (PDF)
