This thesis study investigates the connection between design patterns, OO metrics and software error-proneness. The literature on OO metrics, design patterns and software error-proneness is reviewed. Different software projects and synthetic source codes have been analyzed to verify this connection.

This study investigates the connection between design patterns, object oriented (OO) quality metrics and software maintainability. The literature on OO metrics, design patterns and software maintainability are reviewed, the relation between OO metrics and software maintainability is investigated, and then, in terms of obtained maintainability indicator metrics, the maintainability change of an application due to usage of design patterns is observed.

Increasing usage of multi-core processors has led to their use in real time embedded systems (RTES). This entails high performance requirements which may not be easily met when software development follows traditional techniques long used for single processor systems. In this study, parallel programming design patterns especially developed and reported in the literature will be used to improve RTES implementations on multi-core systems. Specific performance parameters will be selected for assessment, and performance of traditionally developed software will be compared with that of software developed using parallel programming patterns.

Στόχοι της παρούσας διπλωματικής εργασίας είναι η μελέτη τεχνικών αντίστροφης μηχανίκευσης εφαρμογών παγκόσμιου ιστού και η αξιολόγησή τους, εξάγοντας χρήσιμα συμπεράσματα σχετικά με την τρέχουσα κατάσταση και τις διαμορφούμενες μελλοντικές κατευθύνσεις. Αρχικά, γίνεται επισκόπηση των μεθόδων μοντελοποίησης εφαρμογών παγκόσμιου ιστού που έχουν προταθεί από την ερευνητική κοινότητα και παρουσιάζονται τα σχεδιαστικά πρότυπα που έχουν οριστεί πάνω σε αυτές τις μεθόδους. Κατόπιν, παρουσιάζονται οι βασικές έννοιες της αντίστροφης μηχανίκευσης καθώς και συγκεκριμένες τεχνικές που έχουν αναπτυχθεί για την επίτευξή της. Τελικά, παραθέτουμε χρήσιμα συμπεράσματα που προκύπτουν από τη σύγκριση και αξιολόγηση των προτεινόμενων τεχνικών αντίστροφης μηχανίκευσης. / The main goal of this thesis is to study reverse engineering methods and techniques applied to web applications and to evaluate these methods extracting useful conclusions about the present and the future directions of this research area. At start, we study the various modeling methods that have been proposed, as well as the design patterns that have been defined and the reverse engineering methods that have been developed. Then, we present the basic concepts of reverse engineering and some of the methods that have been developed from the research community. Finally, we state our conclusions extracted from the evaluation of the techniques.

Šiame darbe siekiama padidinti informacijos sistemų kūrimo proceso automatizavimo laipsnį, taip palengvinant IS kūrėjų darbą. Darbe tobulinamas IS reikalavimų analizės ir transformavimo į projektą metodas EMDA (angl. Extended Model Driven Approach), kuris automatizuoja transformaciją iš reikalavimų į projekto modelį. Ši transformacija skirta paslaugų informacinėms sistemoms ir remiasi vienu pasiūlytu architektūriniu būsenų koordinatoriaus šablonu, pagal kurį atlieka transformaciją ir reikalavimų į projektą. Šiame darbe EMDA metodas tobulinamas, sukuriant transformaciją iš reikalavimų į projekto modelį, remiantis kitu informacinių sistemų kūrimo metodu RUP (angl. Rational Unified Process) bei MVC (angl. Model-View-Controller) architektūriniu šablonu. Darbe aprašomas siūlomas transformavimo algoritmas ir jo realizacija, panaudojant CASE įrankį MagicDraw. Sukurtas sistemos vedlys (angl. Wizard) leidžia išvengti klasių diagramos kūrimo rankiniu būdu, taip automatizuojant diagramos (ir jos elementų) kūrimą. / This work aims to increase the degree of automation of information system development process, thus facilitating the work of developers. Extended Model Driven Approach (EMDA) automates the transformation from the requirements to the design model, based on only one architectural pattern (State Coordinator) and performs the transformation using this pattern. The method proposed in this work was developed by creating a transformation of the requirements to the project model, based on other information systems development approach RUP (Rational Unified Process) and MVC (Model-View-Controller) architectural pattern. The proposed transformation algorithm was implemented in as an extension to CASE tool MagicDraw. Developed system wizard automates the creation of class diagram (and its elements).
