Um gerador de sistemas embarcados a partir de modelo independente de plataforma baseado no perfil MARTE / A embedded systems generator from platform independent model based on MARTE profile

Farias Filho, Roberto de Medeiros 20 May 2013 (has links)
The growing of embedded systems complexity and the want for a quicker development has motivated the use of abstract models that improves flexibility and reusability. To these objective, we searched for the most adequate languages and profiles, like MARTE. In this work we developed a tool for conversion from platform independent models (PIM) to platfom specific models (PSM), named I2S (Independent to Specific). The I2S is totally acceptable to new developments and necessities of the designer, to open up modelling graphic representations of embedded systems using MARTE components and doing implementation in reconfigurable technology. A platform independent model is converted to the pattern of Alteras SOPC-Builder and Xilinxs XPS, making possible the exploitation of the project space in theses two tecnologies automatically. The work does analysis of systems converted in different configurations and shows relevant results to the area that validate the use of the proposal, meeting the project requirements

Um simulador para modelos descritos em UML. / A simulator for models described in UML.

Rodrigues, Gustavo Afonso 02 September 2009 (has links)
The main goal of the research presented in this Master Thesis was to investigate how to simulate UML based models for software systems specified on business level. A simulator of a UML model on business level can be a useful tool for a designer looking for errors or incomplete models. Using traditional development approaches, these kind of errors would be found only on lates stages of the system development. The main results of this work are the specification of an architecture of a virtual machine capable of executing all actions described in the UML model, and the prototype named ModSim, which executes a UML model received in XMI format.

Using the Ground Equipment Monitoring Service (GEMS) for Satellite Telemetry & Command Systems

Andzik, Rob 10 1900 (has links)
ITC/USA 2008 Conference Proceedings / The Forty-Fourth Annual International Telemetering Conference and Technical Exhibition / October 27-30, 2008 / Town and Country Resort & Convention Center, San Diego, California / As satellite ground systems migrate toward network-centric, distributed architectures, controlling remote ground equipment becomes a central issue. While many protocols and approaches exist that address remote control and status, there is little agreement on a common solution. Device vendors and system integrators commonly find themselves integrating multiple protocols to meet a wide range of requirements. Technologies change and new protocols evolve that result in yet more options to be considered. However, the fundamental aspects of device control remain constant. The Ground Equipment Monitoring Service (GEMS) seeks to define a standard model for device control independent of the underlying protocols and technologies. Using this approach, a wide range of protocols can be mapped to the GEMS model. Systems using different protocols can then rely on the common mapping and utilize translators to connect heterogeneous components with little integration costs. This paper describes the state of the specification and potential uses of the GEMS specification in Satellite Ground Systems. Interactions between the GEMS specification and other standards such as the CCSDS SLE Complex Management services are also presented.

Mothers, madonnas and musicians: A writing of Africa's women as symbols and agents of change in the novels of Zakes Mda

Mazibuko, Nokuthula 31 March 2008 (has links)
Abstract My dissertation interrogates the ways in which Zakes Mda has made women central to his novels. I argue that the women characters in Mda's novels are key to the idea of the rebirth of Africa (and the simultaneous birth of a (South) African identity) a rebirth made necessary by years of dispossession through colonialism and apartheid. I will explore how on one level Mda, through magical realism, represents women as symbols of both destruction and construction; and how on another level he represents them as complex characters existing as agents of history. Mda’s novels: Ways of Dying (1995), She Plays With the Darkness (1995), The Heart of Redness (2000) and The Madonna of Excelsior (2002) critique the topdown approach of the postapartheid, postcolonial discourse of African Renaissance a discourse which aims to reverse the damage done to the lives of Africans who have been brutalised by history. Mda writes an African renaissance (with a lower case “r”), which acknowledges and explores the ways in which people on the margins of power, recreate and transform their lives, without necessarily waiting for politicians to come up with policies and solutions. The renaissance of ordinary people privileges the spirit of ubuntu, whereby the individual strives to work with the collective to achieve a more humane world. Mda’s female characters are central to the debate on renaissance and reconstruction in that he questions existing gender roles by ii highlighting strongly the rights still denied African women his challenge to the discourse is whether a renaissance is possible if the humanity of women (and others marginalised by class, age, location, ethnicity, and other categories) continues to be denied. I ask the question whether Mda, goes further, and envisions women participating as leaders in traditionally male spaces.

Evaluation Integrated Mass Drug Administrations (MDA) for Neglected Tropical Diseases, in Koza District, Cameroon

Conrardy, Christina B 20 December 2012 (has links)
Health education and preventive chemotherapy are main strategies to control or eliminate neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) such as lymphatic filariasis (LF), trachoma, onchocerciasis, schistosomiasis (SCH), and soil-transmitted helminthiasis (STH). Integrated MDA for LF, onchocerciasis, SCH, STH, and trachoma were organized in the Koza district of Cameroon from July to August 2011. Ivermectin (IVM) and albendazole (ALB) were distributed for LF to the entire population except pregnant or lactating women, children <90 cm in height, and the severely ill. Azithromycin was distributed at least one week after the LF MDA to all persons older than 6 months of age. Praziquantel (PZQ), targeting school age children (SAC), was only distributed in schools. In order to validate reported coverage and assess the knowledge and attitude of the population towards NTDs and MDAs, an independent coverage and Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practice (KAP) survey was administered. The WHO recommended population based 30-cluster coverage survey was implemented. Clusters were selected by Probability Proportional to Estimated Size and in each cluster, 10 houses were selected using the improved expanded program on immunization random walk. Coverage questions were administered by trained interviewers to each person living in selected houses and KAP questions were asked to a randomly selected adult in the house. A total of 1301 persons participated in the coverage survey and 149 adults answered the KAP questions. The survey coverage estimates for IVM /ALB and azithromycin are 76.9% (95% CI 72.0-81.9), 86.8% (95% CI 80.9-92.7), respectively, while the reported coverage is 80.3% and 93%, respectively. The survey coverage estimated for PZQ among SAC is 39.9% (95% CI 30.7-49.1), reported coverage is unknown. There was no significant association between participation in the MDA and age, gender, or knowing the disease. SAC who attended school were 269 times as likely to have taken PZQ and 3 times as likely to have taken LF drugs as SAC not attending school. Less than 50% of respondents had heard of LF and only 31.8% could mention at least one LF symptom. More than 70% of respondents had heard of STH, SCH, and trachoma, but only 52.3%, 40%, 30%, respectively, knew at least one way to prevent or treat STH, SCH, and trachoma. Despite low or incorrect knowledge of LF, SCH, STH, and trachoma, overall, MDA coverage was good except for the PZQ which was only distributed in school.

Modeling PIM with UML and Patterns

Su, Hsiao-Sheng 02 May 2006 (has links)
Software modeling with unified modeling language (UML) and model driven architecture (MDA) concept have become the new paradigm of modern systems analysis and design. Some Several CASE tools have been introduced to facilitate the transformation from platform independent model (i.e., class diagram, and sequence diagram) to platform specific model, and thereby enhance the efficiency of system development. This research depends on MDA concept, and presents a systematic methodology which integrated the UML and MDA concept with Patterns to refine PIM cohesively. A real-world case using the integrated techniques is presented. With this approach, the system developer can increase the reuse of PIM and thereby enhance the efficiency of system development.
