En grafisk profilering för Falu Ju-jutsuklubb / A graphical profiling for Falu Ju-jutsuklubbIsebrink, Linnea January 2018 (has links)
This work was conducted in collaboration with Falu Ju-jutsuklubb which was in need of a graphical profile and a website. The purpose of this study was to find out how the graphical profile and website should be made to make current members proud and make it easier to recruit new members. A semi-structured interview was conducted with the president P. Ankarbåge to gain understanding of how they want to be perceived and what they want for the future. Through a visual content analysis understanding was gained of how ju-jutsu organizations in Sweden profile themselves and how their websites are built. Through contact with the board and members valuable information was gained, this information then was the foundation of how their new graphical profile was to be designed. The graphical profile was designed with help from Sless’ model for informationdesign. The result of this work was a graphical profile digest in a graphic manual complete with guidelines för logo, font, graphical elements and image manners. A mockup for their website was also made consisting of mockups for desktop and mobile usage. The response from the board and members concluded that the new material mediated their core values self-defence, workout and joy and that it was well suited for Ju-jutsu Swedens’ catchwords "ju-jutsu is for everyone".

Využití Open Source platforem v rámci vzdělávání v oboru Grafický design / Use of Open Source platforms in education in the field of Graphic DesignLukáš, David January 2021 (has links)
This diploma work is fokused on the opportunities of using the Open Source Programmes in the lessons at secondary vocational schools according to Graphic Design as a branch of study. In the theoretical part are basic terms explained and reachable educational sources and matherials including graphic editor work noticed . There are described the special signs of the Graphic design branch in a context with the secondary vocational school and the goals of education defined inside RVP (Frame Educational Plan). It speaks about the claims, their availability and the chance of their using as a legal area where are needed skills and experiences for students and their work aplication adopted. The practical part is dedicated to the survey of the ways of possible work in graphic editors and opportunities of using alternative graphic editors at each secondary school offering Graphic design as a branch of study. It includes time analysis of the vocational subjects defined in the School Educational Programme, questioner's investigation and interviews with the teachers. The situation in a real practice also with interviews with professionals and exployers are examined there too. We can find many problematic moments connected with the aplication of alternative graphic editors into the education and practice from...

30 years of agitprop : the representation of 'extreme' politics in punk and post-punk music graphics in the United Kingdom from 1978 to 2008Raposo, Ana Bastos January 2012 (has links)
This research analyses the dissemination of political and ideological content through the music graphics of selected bands associated with punk and post-punk. It concentrates on the anarcho-punk movement and the neo-fascist scene in the United Kingdom between 1978 and 2008. The aim is to show how music graphics were integral to the philosophy of politically engaged bands, and acted as systems of propaganda. The research further deconstructs these systems and reveals underlying narratives, intentions, tropes and visual codes. The research presents three main novel contributions to scholarship and knowledge. The first is the creation and cataloguing of the most extensive archive to date of the material under analysis providing an instrumental resource for further research on the subject. The second is the development of a methodology for analysing the dissemination of ideological and political content through graphic design objects in a subcultural context. This methodology allows for an exploration of the heretofore neglected area of the inter-relationship between dissemination of the message and specific graphic systems. The analysis is conducted through the use of multiple research methods, drawing upon qualitative research methodologies and the development of complementary methodologies devised for the field of graphic design. The focus is on the analysis of political camps and comparisons between them, noting points of commonality and divergence between dialogues of opposition within the common subcultural context. The third contribution is the identification, analysis and interpretation of ‘extreme’ political music graphics produced by artists from the United Kingdom from 1978 to 2008. Covering an under-researched field and time span of subcultural movements that were critical for the punk subculture and the corresponding political groups, the analysis of the music graphics presents an insight into their political theory and strategies. This comparative work involved methodologies drawn from cultural studies, subcultural studies and historical studies, and can therefore be seen as a contribution to these fields as well as to that of graphic design studies.

Motion capture based motion analysis and motion synthesis for human-like character animationXiao, Zhidong January 2009 (has links)
Motion capture technology is recognised as a standard tool in the computer animation pipeline. It provides detailed movement for animators; however, it also introduces problems and brings concerns for creating realistic and convincing motion for character animation. In this thesis, the post-processing techniques are investigated that result in realistic motion generation. Anumber of techniques are introduced that are able to improve the quality of generated motion from motion capture data, especially when integrating motion transitions from different motion clips. The presented motion data reconstruction technique is able to build convincing realistic transitions from existing motion database, and overcome the inconsistencies introduced by traditional motion blending techniques. It also provides a method for animators to re-use motion data more efficiently. Along with the development of motion data transition reconstruction, the motion capture data mapping technique was investigated for skeletal movement estimation. The per-frame based method provides animators with a real-time and accurate solution for a key post-processing technique. Although motion capture systems capture physically-based motion for character animation, no physical information is included in the motion capture data file. Using the knowledge of biomechanics and robotics, the relevant information for the captured performer are able to be abstracted and a mathematical-physical model are able to be constructed; such information is then applied for physics-based motion data correction whenever the motion data is edited.

Hypermasculinity and the hero in comic book fiction : this is itConnell, Daniel James January 2011 (has links)
This thesis examines occurrences of hypermasculinity in examples from the genre of comic book fiction, utilizing textual evidence to suggest the current collection has re-iterated the more negative hypermasculine components of their source material: comic books. In doing so, the thesis compares the present novels with the creative element of the PhD submission – This Is It – a novel which serves as a critique of the prevalence of hypermasculinity in heroic figures within comic book fiction. By analyzing the sociological reasons behind hypermasculinity, and its subsequent effects, this thesis aims to make apparent the danger inherent with the continued association of hypermasculinity and hero figures in a new medium such as comic book fiction. It will also argue that the development of such a form divergent from comic books allows scope for a deconstruction of the hypermasculine comic book hero.

Motion to becoming : nature and the image in timePolmeer, Gareth January 2015 (has links)
This research comprises interrelated elements of video works and a thesis. The philosophy and aesthetics of nature are explored through light and motion in the time- based image. Framed within selected aspects of G.W.F. Hegel’s philosophy, I explore digital aesthetics, nature and dialectics, bringing new perspectives to the poetics of the image and a different understanding of the formative influences of nineteenth century aesthetics and twentieth century modernism on contemporary film and video. I approach these questions from the position of practice, of which the project has two components. Firstly, the representation of natural phenomena is discussed in a number of experimental films and videos, examining selected works in Europe and North America across the last century. The practices focused upon are those where techniques and processes of moving image technologies are brought into critical reflection in the representation of nature (and interests in motion and form). This includes the ways in which photosensitive silver halide crystals on film, electronic signals or pixels are engaged in the material process of the work’s making. Secondly, the works that I have made focus on the constituent technologies of the videographic image; the progressive scan, pixel, properties of digital colour, compression and display technologies. The technologically mediated image of nature is foregrounded with recordings of the sky, sea and terrain explored through system-based processes. The outcomes reflect a dialectical theory of knowledge in the experience of landscape and the human relation to nature. The video works have made present, in sensuous form, the transient ideas accorded to nature in the theories and concepts defined. The relations of practice (video works) and theory (the thesis) are dialectical, where both components interrelate, reflect and determine one another.
