The Korrö festival- The establishment of a Swedish Folk Music Festival.

This thesis describes how folk music festivals have been escalating during the past few and how they have influenced Swedish folk music. To reach my results I have been studying one festival in particular which is the Korrö Folk Music Festival. This event started in the mid-eighties as a small happening that attracted almost exclusively musicians that were a part of the bordooon movement. The bordoon movement gathered a couple of days in the summer at what they called the “Korrö bordunstämma” to build instruments and play folk music. Later on the event started to attract other people through public live concerts. These concerts became more and more popular and they soon took over the original purpose of the event. This became a turning point for “Korrö bordunstämma” who now decided to change name to the Korrö Folk Music Festival. I have been studying the history of this event to see if I could find any particular circumstances that may have contributed to the popularity this event have reached over the years. I will illustrate how certain factors such as organisation, economy and alteration of visitors have affected the festival. This text will give the reader a presentation of a festival in constant change. I believe that The Korrö Folk Music Festival has been an important part of the development of modern Swedish folk music and still is.

This research aimed at understanding the learning and musical practices triggered in and by the student music festival in Guarulhos. What music education actions did the festival cause in the young participants? And at school, how did that happen? To what extent did the young participants – and the school – interfere in the decisions and dynamics of the event? There were several fruitful moments of music learning during the festival, such as the students’ preparation for the event, and the possibility the organizers gave them to be in touch with other musicians who provided them with hints and instructions concerning music. The festival boosted the music practice of several young students, changing the school setting from the commitment of students and teachers in composing, forming groups, and the music performances. The results show that the festival went beyond the space and schedule the organizers had formally established – by contemplating its participants’ life and music.

Bra säkerhet syns inte : En kvalitativ studie inom krishantering på svenska musikfestivaler / The invisibility of good safety : A qualitative study on crisis management at Swedish music festivalsDahlström, Bianca, Priebe, Bina, Verkerk, Amanda January 2024 (has links)
This thesis explores crisis management at Swedish music festivals, focusing on how these events prepare for and manage potential crises. The study employs six qualitative semi-structured interviews with project leaders, security managers, experts, and other individuals possessing relevant knowledge and experience, as well as a document study. It utilizes the Crisis Management Lifecycle framework, enhanced with the MSB's four principles against antagonistic threats, to apply it specifically to the music festival industry. The results indicate that music festival organizations emphasize trained personnel, well-designed and clear crisis management plans, and effective communication to ensure a safe festival environment. In conclusion, we can see that Swedish music festival organizations must constantly be prepared to meet and plan for new crises and threats. Through clear and comprehensive crisis management plans, organizations can take preventive measures against, among other things, antagonistic threats, crowd accidents, and sexual assaults. We have seen that security work is a continuous process that must constantly be evaluated and adjusted to meet new external factors that may affect the safety of music festival organizations and their participants. This study is written in Swedish.

Los festivales musicales en el Perú como medio de difusión de nuevas propuestas del género tropical entre 2014 y 2019 / Music festivals in Peru as a means of disseminating new proposals of the tropical genre between 2014 and 2019Alarcón Figueroa, Adrián Enrique 16 April 2020 (has links)
The present investigation addresses the process and development of music festivals in Peru that present proposals of the tropical genre in their programming. Within these musical proposals, it seeks to give greater emphasis to the inclusion of new groups from the fusion of cumbia with rock, which are groups from a scene formed in late 2000 and which are currently working on the constant growth of their brand, audience, staging, marketing, among other aspects.
The general objective of this investigation is to find out the level of diffusion generated by the participation of these new groups in national festivals. To do this, a theoretical and conceptual framework of music festival and the development of concerts in Peru from 2007 to 2019 will be shown, showing that there is an increase in the offer of musical festivals between 2014 and 2019. Also, a brief revision will be made, from the development of tropical genre groups in Peru until reaching the groups considered in this investigation as the new musical proposals of the tropical genre; it is important to mention that their formation, communication, marketing strategies, musical analysis, staging and their participation in national festivals will be addressed.
After this, an approach to the relationship between festivals and groups is made, proposing, in one hand, to know what things festivals programmers are looking for to decide which groups will call and, on the other hand, to know if the groups are willing or able to approach compliance these requirements; to give more depth to this topic, the case of four tropical groups is presented.
Finally, an analysis of the results of a survey to people who attends music festivals is presented to find out their perception as a public regarding festivals and new proposals of the tropical genre. / Tesis
