Norman, Susan 08 1900 (has links)
This study is designed to determine if people have a particular stimulus or perceptual preference which is congruent with their personality. Seventy-six male and female college students completed three personality tests, consisting of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, the Revised Art Scale of the Welsh Figure Preference Test, and the Gough Adjective Check List. A preference for simplicity or complexity in designs for four different personality dimensions was examined. The personality dimension of introversion and extroversion was looked at in particular.

Correlates Between Adult Romantic Attachment Patterns and Dimensional Personality Pathology

Ernest, Kimberly Dawn 08 1900 (has links)
Previous research has suggested that adult attachment disturbance is related to maladaptic interaction patterns and personality disorder constructs. Specifically, research indicates that those with attachment disturbance are significantly more likely to meet criteria for a number of personality disorders, including borderline personality disorder, narcissistic personality disorder, and antisocial personality disorder. The purpose of this study was to investigate the associations between adult attachment and the new dimensional model of personality disorders scheduled to be released in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Health Diosrders (5th ed.) in spring 2013. Participants completed the Schedule for Adaptive and Nonadaptive Personality (SNAP) to measure dimensional personality functioning and the Experiences in Close Relationships (ECR-R) and the Attachment Prototypes to measure adult attachment patterns. Additionally, select scales from the Personality Assessment Inventory (PAI) and the Five Factor Model (FFM) will be utilized as secondary measures of personality patterns. The results suggest strong associations between adult attachment orientations and specific maladaptive personality characteristics.

Osobnosti kytary, jejich přínos světové hudbě a kytarové hře / Personages of guitar, their contribution to world music and guitar playing

Bělohoubek, Martin January 2012 (has links)
In recent years the guitar has belonged to the most popular instruments. Its influence reaches many countries, where it has found its new home. It is most significant in music styles such as blues, rock and country. It is evident that these styles would not develop without the guitar. The work deals with the impact of the guitar and guitar players on the history of styles, looks into techniques of various guitarists and classifies them into the history of genres. One chapter is devoted to riff, the melodic sequence, which influenced the thinking of rock musicians in a fundamental way. Guitarists have gradually become heroes, attracting masses of listeners. Consequently, their popularity is used in advertising in order to promote certain goods. For this reason the theme of advertisement has been introduced. The final chapter of this work focuses on the practical use of the instrument in music lessons and presents drafts of song guitar accompaniments.

Personality and job satisfaction : the moderating effect of psychological wellbeing

28 April 2015 (has links)
M.Com. (Industrial Psychology) / The main objective of the study was to investigate the moderating effect of psychological wellbeing on the relationship between personality and job satisfaction. A quantitative, cross-sectional research design was used. A survey was created using the shortened version of the Basic Traits Inventory, Ryff‟s Scale of Psychological Wellbeing and the shortened version of the Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire. The survey was distributed online and in hard copy to various organisations in South Africa (N=207). Results showed that the psychological wellbeing traits of self-acceptance, environmental mastery, and purpose in life moderate the relationship between neuroticism and job satisfaction; personal growth moderates the relationship between extraversion and job satisfaction; and the relationship between conscientiousness and job satisfaction is moderated by self-acceptance, environmental mastery, purpose in life, and personal growth. It was concluded that certain facets of psychological wellbeing serve to strengthen the positive effects and mitigate the negative effects of personality traits on job satisfaction. It is thus advised that management consider the impact of employees‟ psychological wellbeing on their level of satisfaction at work, and create a working environment that is conducive to the personal growth and development of employees.

Persoonlikheidstipes en droominhoude

13 October 2015 (has links)
M.A. (Clinical Psychology) / The theory on the interpretation of dreams is one of Freud's most important contributions to psychology. Unfortunately very little empirical research of Freudian dream theory has been done because of the difficulty in operationalizing Freudian concepts. In this study an attempt has been made to overcome this difficulty by introducing an empirical referent namely manifest dream content. The aim of this study is to indicate that there is a correspondence between personality types and manifest dream content ...

The influence of disinhibition and self-control on alcohol use in young adults

Dwan, Rita 18 August 2016 (has links)

Both self-control and disinhibition (an aspect of sensation seeking) are associated with alcohol use. Self-control is negatively related to alcohol use while disinhibition is positively related to alcohol use. However it is unknown whether disinhibition and self-control each predict unique variance in alcohol use. Objective: The objective was to test for independent and joint effects of disinhibition and self-control on alcohol use. Methods: College-enrolled young adults (n = 259; 198 = female) participated in a longitudinal study where questionnaires were administered at each of 2 time points, separated by 3 weeks. Questionnaires assessed disinhibition, self-control, heavy episodic drinking (HED), social weekend drinking (SWD) and demographic information. Results: Hierarchical linear regression analyses revealed the presence of a statistically significant interaction between self-control and disinhibition predicting both HED (β = -.14, p < .01, sr = -.13) and SWD (β = -.10, p < .05, sr = -.09). The nature of the interaction was such that disinhibition was a positive predictor of alcohol use when self-control was low, but not when self-control was high. Conclusions: Results suggest that when both disinhibition and self-control are considered simultaneously, self-control moderates the relationship between disinhibition and alcohol use.
