Prevence syndromu vyhoření u terénních sociálních pracovníků v Českých Budějovicích. / Prevention of burnout syndrome among social field workers in České Budějovice

ŠMIDMAJEROVÁ, Edita January 2016 (has links)
This thesis topic is preventing burnout among social workers in Ceske Budejovice. Currently, the burnout syndrome is struck by the large number of field social workers due to demand of social work and solving difficult situations with clients frequently. I have chosen this topic because it is very big problem nowadays. I also wanted to find out whether social field workers from the Czech Budejovice suffer from this phenomenon, and if so, whether they know the prevention. The work consists of practical and theoretical part. The theoretical part involves six main chapters. The first chapter describes the concept of burnout syndrome, which includes acute and chronic syndrome. The second chapter includes symptoms of burnout syndrome, where I describe physical, emotional, mental exhaustion and stress. The third chapter deals with the stages of burnout, which I describe more in detail. The fourth chapter focuses on risk groups of people that are the most often affected by burnout syndrome. In this chapter I characterize the concept of personality and describe the symptoms of burnout within the personality. In the fifth chapter I mention preventing burnout syndrome, furthermore there I describe the basic methods and prevention techniques, which include social networking, preventive measures by the employee as well as by the employer and last but not the least I mention supervision in that chapter. The last, sixth chapter, deals with the field social work in the context of the law on social services, basic principles, methods and procedures of social work are described. I focus on the differences between the field social work and provided social services. In the practical part two goals are set. First one is to determine whether burnout syndrome occurs among field social workers in Ceske Budejovice. The second one is what methods and prevention techniques are used by social workers in Ceske Budejovice in order to prevent burnout syndrome. Based on the objectives set, I chose two research questions. These research questions deal with burnout of social workers in the Ceske Budejovice and furthermore the most common methods and techniques for the prevention of Social Workers in the Czech Budejovice the symptoms of burnout used. In order to realize the practical part I used qualitative research methodology. Data were obtained using a semi-structured interview. The sample consisted of 7 social workers from Ceske Budejovice. I used the technique of purposive sampling research sample. The survey results showed that 4 field workers out of 7 have been experiencing symptoms of burnout syndrome. The most common methods and techniques to prevent burnout of field social workers are devoting their hobbies, social support from family, friends, colleagues, heads of organizations or supervisor. Furthermore, to separate work life from personal life and to set firm boundaries of work, adequate rest and of course supervision. My thesis could be benefit to the general public. Could be beneficial for both social workers, who have been experiencing symptoms of burnout syndrome and want to learn more, as well as for social workers who have met with burnout and want to know the possible methods and techniques in order to prevent burnout syndrome.

Problematika umisťování seniorů do domovů pro seniory / The Issue of Placement of Seniors in Homes for the Elderly

VANČUROVÁ, Alena January 2014 (has links)
The thesis deals with problems connected with the placement of senior citizens into homes for the elderly. The objectives of the thesis are to find out how long the waiting period for the placement into a home for senior citizens is and which obstacles and problems connected with the placement into homes for the elderly appear. The theoretical part of the thesis is focused on some demographic trends, the opinion of the Czech population about the old age and senior citizens, history of social services for senior citizens in the Czech Republic and abroad, and the current offer of social services for senior citizens. In this part, I also describe the process of placing of senior citizens into homes for the elderly and the services which homes for the elderly offer to their clients; I also focus on the senior citizens´ financial reimbursement of board and lodging in homes for the elderly. The research was conducted by means of quantitative and qualitative methods and techniques. In the qualitative research, I deal with the second part of my goal identifying obstacles to placement in homes for the elderly. Firstly, I set the following research questions: 1) What are the obstacles and problems in the process of placing senior citizens into homes for the elderly? and 2) Do senior citizens have any other options of care instead of the care in homes for the elderly? Then, I conducted semi-standardized interviews with 3 social workers, 8 senior citizens and with 3 members of families which put their senior citizens into homes for the elderly. I asked all of them almost identical questions to be able to compare their responses later. The results show that nowadays, dependent senior citizens who have no other option of care are more likely to be placed into homes for the elderly. The answers to the question "What are the obstacles and problems when placing senior citizens into homes for the elderly?" were rather variable and they cannot be generalized. The quantitative part of my research relates to the first part of my goal. Here I primarily focused on the waiting period. The following two hypotheses were set for the research. H1: Senior citizens negatively evaluate the waiting period for their placement into homes for the elderly. H2: Senior citizens know only one possibility of care homes for the elderly. To verify the above hypotheses, I used the method of secondary analysis of the data taken from the client's documentation and the method of controlled conversation. Therefore, I conducted my research in the following homes for the elderly: Home for the elderly Light in Písek, Home for the elderly Bechyně, Home for the elderly Diaconia Centre ČCE Blanka in Písek, Home for the elderly Centre for Social Assistance Vodňany. Social workers in each facility advised me to use the greatest possible number of clients who were oriented and able to answer my questions. In total, I analyzed 100 files of personal documentation and then I conducted the structured interviews with the analysed clients in the homes for the elderly which are mentioned above. The average waiting period was 243 days. In the category of the waiting period shorter than 1 month there were 26 senior citizens; from 1 to 2 months 33 senior citizens; from 3 to 4 months 11 senior citizens; longer than 5 months 30 senior citizens. 79 senior citizens rated their waiting periods positively, but 21 senior citizens rated their waiting periods negatively. 56 senior citizens had some knowledge about other possibilities of care; most of them reported the nursing service (54 responses); homes with nursing (8 responses); personal assistance (3 responses); pensions for senior citizens (1 response).

Dilemata práce s klientem s důrazem na problematiku kompetencí sociálních pracovníků / The dilemmas of the work with a client with the emphasis on the problems of the social worker´s competency.

DVOŘÁKOVÁ, Zuzana January 2009 (has links)
This work paies that, dilemmas of the work a client and problems of social workers. Through studies available resources and fulfilment qualitative research has been that social workers must most often decide under the pressure of circumstances and importance of the situation; must prioritize either the quality of services or the number of clients; must be able to select the correct variant in the event of intervention or non-intervention in a client{\crq}s situation; know how much help they can give so that they do not control the client; and be able to manage moral conflicts. Social workers most often rely on their knowledge and experience, professional judgment and conscientiousness. . It is also important that a social worker can confide in a senior worker and have an opportunity to discuss with them all required matters. Gained experience provides workers with a dispassionate point of view for decision-making.

An Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis of the impact of professional background on role fulfilment : a study of approved mental health practice

Vicary, Sarah January 2017 (has links)
This thesis is concerned with the impact of professional background on role fulfilment. In the United Kingdom current policy in health and social care in mental health is underpinned by integration; the idea that responsibilities can be accomplished irrespective of profession. Approved mental health practice is one example of a psychiatric statutory role and function, until recently carried out by the profession of social work, which is now extended to other, non-medical, mental health professions. This thesis aims to explore the role and experiences of current practitioners in order to understand the impact, if any, of professional background on the fulfilment of approved mental health practice and the way in which it is experienced. Qualitative data are generated through semi-structured individual interviews with twelve approved mental health practitioners: five nurses, two occupational therapists and five social workers and the use of rich pictures to supplement the interview discussions. Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis was applied to the verbatim transcripts. Key findings were that approved mental health practice can be accomplished irrespective of professional background. Its practitioners require particular shared attributes, specifically a cognitive and affective capacity to deal with and use discord and to manage the disparate emotions that occur. Conceptualised in this thesis as "pull," this finding constitutes a different understanding of the use of emotion in the workplace and provides evidence of a new emotional dimension; the active use of dissonance. Professional identity is also found to be influenced by approved mental health practice thereby turning on its head the original hypothesis of this thesis. Last, personhood is found to be an additional aspect of the moral framework for approved mental health practice and is being practiced in a different circumstance than previously considered. The implications of this work are that it challenges the perception that approved mental health practice is synonymous with the profession of social work. It also revives the theory that its normative moral framework is inherently contradictory. The present study appears to be the first to associate personhood with approved mental health practice and shows role fulfilment as sophisticated emotion management, primarily the active use of dissonance. Both provide new insights into the enactment of approved mental health practice and are important issues for the future training and development of practitioners. The influence on role of professional identity may also help policy makers better understand the impact that new ways of working in mental health might have on traditional professional roles and boundaries in integrated services.

Dilema sociálního pracovníka v souvislosti s návrhem střídavé péče u nezletilého dítěte / The dilemma of a social worker in connection with the proposed alternate care for minor

KUBÁTOVÁ, Renata January 2013 (has links)
In the theoretical part, there I devote to the family itself, what are its functions, further I deal with a marriage and parenthood. In the next chapter I explain the divorce with minor children, causes of the divorce rate and the children´s reactions to the divorce. This is followed by a chapter on the social worker dealing with the children´s social and legal protection, his roles and competences, which dilemmas he encounters during his work. Last but not least I deal with the mutual and alternate care. What are prerequisites of the successful alternate care, its advantages and disadvantages. I chose a technique of a semi-structured interview for the qualitative research. There is a minimum of topics and questions that the interviewer must discuss. These basic topics and interviews then are attached by various other additional topics that the interviewer seemed to be meaningful or suitable to an extension of the original assignment. Data obtained through the interview I worked out using the coding. The research sample has been represented by the department of the children´s social and legal protection. This department belongs under the department of social affairs in municipalities with extended powers. Specifically, they were social workers of this department who I gained all the necessary information for the research from. The aim of this thesis was to describe the dilemmas of the social worker in the area of the social work in connection with the decision on the alternate care for the minor child. The research showed that there still prevails the number of children, who are placed by the court in the sole custody of mothers in the Czech Republic. It more often happens, that children´s fathers who were for the alternate care at the beginning, after a certain time revise their opinions and decide to leave the education of the children to their mothers. Regarding the dilemmas of the social workers dealing with the children´s social and legal protection, there are situations which occur more and more. These are especially situations when parents cannot agree on any rules on which the alternate care could run smoothly. In those above mentioned situations the child is placed in the sole custody to one of the parents. The everyday problem of the social workers is a large number of clients. The main reason for this is a growing number of divorces. To be able to cope with so many clients, all leads to the fact that the social workers are forced to reduce their time, energy, but also their attention which is to be paid to individual clients. Specifically in České Budějovice, the social workers from the department of the children´s social and legal protection lead only very few consultations with their clients directly in their office. It is especially due to the lack of their time, because they more often go to investigate a particular family on demand of the court. Many social workers meet the fact that the family wants to realize the alternate care, but for the reason of the non-cooperation of the both parents most of the alternate cares come to an end. As for the forms of the alternate care, most families realize a week alternate care. Mainly it is at the primary school-age children for the reason that the children are small and after a short time they miss the other parent. A 14-day alternate care is realized at the older children. They usually dislike their permanent moving from one parent to the other. A contribution of this thesis is to provide a topic for the social workers dealing with the children´s social and legal protection, to use it in their own practice in connection with the alternate care. Finally, the results can be used for an evaluation of the social workers´ approach to the families wishing to realize the alternate care.

Role sociálního pracovníka v péči o hospitalizované dítě / Role of Social Worker in the Care of Hospitalized Child

DRMOTOVÁ, Adéla January 2013 (has links)
Social work in health care is a field in which health care blends with social care and represents inseparable part of curing and nursing process. There is not given enough attention and importance to this field, which it should deserve. The role of a social worker in the care of a hospitalized child is not sufficiently surveyed and defined, and therefore it became the theme of this dissertation. The main objective of this research was to look into the role of a social worker in the care of a hospitalized child. These partial goals were set for the survey: 1. To find out the subjective perception of the role of a social worker in the care of a hospitalized child from the point of the social workers themselves. 2. To find out what goal the operation of social work in the care of a hospitalized child is to achieve. 3. To look into what position in the medical team the social worker has in the framework of the care of a hospitalized child. 4. To find out what methods of social work are the most frequently used by social workers in the care of a hospitalized child. The theoretical part of the dissertation deals with social work in hospital. Following chapters describe social workers in hospital including their approaches to clients and theoretical definition of their role. Chapters dealing with children in hospital, social work with them and the whole family also represent a significant part of the theory. A qualitative survey using the method of making inquires was chosen for the purposes of the dissertation. The survey was carried out in a semi-conducted interview, which was divided into several fields enabling deeper insight into this specific profession and more concrete characteristics of the role held by the social worker in the care of a hospitalized child. A surveyed specimen consisted of female social workers in hospitals working within the framework of their field work with hospitalized children and their families. The selection of the surveyed specimen was intentional. For the sake of the survey ten interviews with social workers were carried out. Thanks to the opinions of the social workers the role of the social worker in the care of the hospitalized child can be, expressed with the aid of several graphs, which serve for clear and lucid orientation in results brought by this survey. Based on the survey results following hypotheses were defined: H 1: Social workers in the care of the hospitalized child most frequently hold the role of an advisor. H 2: The position of the social worker in the medical team is not equal. H 3: Dialogue is the most frequently used techniques in the social work with the child and their family. The survey reveals the importance of the role of the social worker in the care of the hospitalized child. The dissertation should mainly serve for opening the discussion about the role of the social worker in the hospital, in this case in the care of a hospitalized child.

O trabalho do assistente social na indústria da construção civil: perdas e novas possibilidades / The social worker work in the industry of the building: losses and new possibilities

Mary Lane Cruz Madureira 29 August 2003 (has links)
