The thesis deals with the topic of ethical dilemmas of social workers who meet the victims of domestic violence in their practice. The thesis is theoretical in nature, supplemented with research. The first chapter is devoted to the topic of domestic violence, it especially describes specifics of social work with the target group and points to the possible causes of formation of the dilemmas when working with clients. The second part of the diploma theses shortly defines the concept of ethical dilemma and its place in the social work practise. There are also mentioned examples of possible dilemmas in social work. In this part the final theses draws particularly from the authors L. Musil, S. Banks, D. Nedělníková and M. Nečasová. Major part of the second chapter occupies with concrete ethical dilemmas that relate to social work with victims of domestic violence and with their detailed description. The ethic dilemmas were identified on the basis of research made with eight social workers. A semi-structured interview completed by observation was chosen as the method. The last chapter introduces the ethical theories of deontology, utilitarianism and care ethics. It points to the importance and benefit of ethical theories for practise of social work in general and for social workers themselves. Two chosen ethical dilemmas, identified on the basis of research, are reflected from a position of ethical approaches mentioned above.

The thesis reflects a relationship between a social worker and a client within ethical-psychological contexts and provides understanding of its significance. It gives an insight into conditions for establishing an optimum relationship between a social worker and a client and into risks that may disturb the mutual relationship, especially the risk of power. The terms of social worker, client and their relationship are characterized in terms of professional ethics. If an ethical reflection is to be competent, it is to cover psychological knowledge such as human needs, incentives and motives for acting. To conclude, ethical solutions a social worker should take into account in relation to a client are defined. These are human dignity, respect, autonomy, responsibility, dependency and vulnerability.

The thesis deals with relationship of students of higher specialized school of social work in Domazlice to the pursue of the profession of social worker after finishing education at this school. In the thesis, theoretical bases are assigned and analyzed to results of own research, which was performed among the students at the mentioned school. The research is focused on finding out factors, which influenced students of the school to the decision to study social work specifically at the school mentioned above; on finding out, whether the students wish to pursue the profession of social worker after finishing education, to which conception of social work they incline; and on finding out, what sort of clients they would like to work with. In the ethical part, the question is analysed, whether it is possible to dispose the responsibility for making decisions during the pursue of the profession of a social worker by chosing an organization with certain conception of social work.

This thesis deals with a multidisciplinary approach to clients suffering from schizophrenia. The main aim is to reflex the multidisciplinary approach to schizophrenic clients, appealing to social work and having respect to ethical principles of participating branches. The work includes chapters that are necessarily coherent to this topic. These are mainly the social work in the context of schizophrenia, specifics of schizophrenia, the structure of the multidisciplinary team, team work and all ethical aspects arising out of team work and individual experts' work. This thesis tries to link up theoretical and practical knowledge, mainly by means of casuistry and practical observations.

This work is dealing with children and adolescents, who are going through a loss of their parent. It describes how the multidisciplinary team of home hospice care works approach this focus group. My work explains how death is perceived by children and adolescents, understanding of which is instrumental in handling communication with individuals suffering from the trauma of loss. We need to understand family as a unit where everyone influence each other. Therefore I point out the importance of open communication in the family which is the basis for strong life-long relationships and also helps coping with loss better. This work is enriched by interviews with home hospice care social workers and their hands-on experience working with children going through the loss of their parent.

We found, at the beginning, twenty-one Social Workers acting in thirty-one social organizations regularly registered in the Municipal Council of Social Assistance. Nineteen agreed in participating in the study. Nine professionals attended the first meeting we held to present the research and its instrumental, to which suggestions were added, and to verify how many professionals social workers were acting in this municipality. The questionnaire, with open and multiple choice questions, was submitted between July/08 and February/09.The nineteen Social Workers who act in the social organizations are distributed in twenty-eight job places, which means that some of them have two jobs or more. In order to contextualize the present social work, we describe its historical trajectory throughout the introduction of this paper. In Chapter One, we present the geral data of the universe of the research, the geral data of the social workers in the municipality. We also present reflexions about the social issue and the digression of the history of the Social Work as a profession. Homeless hostels started being established on the territory of the Czech Republic in the beginning of 1990. At present they are institutions of social services providing persons in unfavourable social situation related with loss of dwelling with accommodation services of social prevention for transition period. The goal of the thesis was to characterize the homeless hostel for men as an institution helping homeless persons with social integration from the point of view of professional staff and to explain life fates and experiences of selected users. The work is conceived as quality research focused primarily on the issues of social work. In order to meet the aim, the following methods and techniques of data collection were used: interview with help of instruction, narrative interview, study of documents and observation. Rules of service provision, internal rules of the institution, social worker activities, course of service and its planning are specified in more detail on the base of the data from interviews with professional staff and their subsequent analysis. The work focuses also on the offer of activities with stress on possibilities of work rehabilitation of the users and compares the individual facilities according to specified criteria. Life experiences of selected users before they stay in the homeless hostel are described together with their expectancies and future plans. Two hypotheses were formulated on the base of the research.

This thesis deals with the application of ethical principles in social work and comparing denominational and non-denominational social facilities. Great emphasis is put on the relationship between social worker and client. It is divided into a total of 6 chapters. The first chapter deals with the explanation of basic ethical concepts related to the work, which makes an easier reference to the following chapters. The second chapter involves the division of church and non-church organizations concerned with social care and describes their organizational structure and comparison. The third chapter is devoted to human rights, along with a related code of ethics and its importance as well as criticism. The fourth chapter refers to the values in social work and the values in the relationships between social workers and clients. The fifth chapter defines the concept of quality of life, human dignity and the related social work. The final chapter about the relationship of man to himself, to the client and the Christian concept of man.

The diploma thesis on the basis of ethical theories sv. Augustinus, M. Scheler, V. E. Frankl and R. Spaemann examines the concept of ordo amoris as theoretical basis of ethics in social work. It deals with the historical development of the concept, its changes and influence on social work in term of three fundamental aspects of social work: a person suffering, relationship to this man and life situations change. It examines the usefulness and value of ethical concept ordo amoris and love as the principle in the relation framework of the aid process.
