Aanwending van werknemerhulpprogramme deur welsynsinstansiesBrink, Adéle 30 November 2002 (has links)
Text in Afrikaans / The purpose of this research study is to determine the extent to which
employee assistance programmes can be utilised by welfare agencies to ensure
that work-related and personal problems do not negatively influence the
productivity of social workers. The group of respondents consisted of ten social
work supervisors from ten different welfare agencies, which included civil sevice
organisations, specialist organisations and family welfare organisations. The
conclusion that was reached based on the findings of the empirical study is
that social workers have a need for services that will prevent, relieve or
eliminate their work-related and personal problems, in order to improve the
productivity and general functioning of social workers. It is recommended that
welfare agencies in accordence with their unique nature and functioning and
the specific needs of the social workers, utilise employee assistance
programmes so as to ensure optimal productivity of social workers / Die doel van die navorsingstudie is om te bepaal tot watter mate

Text in Afrikaans / The purpose of this research study was to determine whether social workers at ground-level experience job satisfaction in their current job situations, as well as to determine the motivational factors that play a role in this regard. Eleven non-governmental welfare organisations in the Boland Region were included in this investigation. Forty-seven social workers participated in this investigation. Based on this investigation into the experiences relating to job satisfaction of ground-level social workers, the following conclusions became evident: Younger social workers experience more job satisfaction then there counterparts in mid-life, while the social in the age bracket of 50 years and above seem to experience more job satisfaction. There seems to be a great deal of job dissatisfaction amongst social worker in the Boland Region as two thirds of the respondents indicated the intention to change their current places of employment. Based on theses conclusions, it is recommended that supervisors within region should establish a forum at which they can deliberate about their management role as supervisors in order to promote job satisfaction amongst social workers. / Social work / M.Diac.

Bemagtiging van SAPD maatskaplike werkers deur die ondersteuningsfunksie in supervisie: `n sterkteperspektief / The empowerment of SAPS social workers through the supportive functions in supervision : a strenght perspectiveGoliath, Brian Athur 30 November 2004 (has links)
Text in Afrikaans / The purpose of this research study is to determine how Police Social Workers experience the supportive function in supervision, and how they can be empowered through the strenghts perspective. The respondents were fifteen (15) Police Social Workers in the Western Cape. The findings of the empirical study proved that Police Social Workers also experience the profession to be stressful in nature. The respondents do have inherent strenghts, that can be utilised optimally during supervision, to enhance service delivery to their different client systems. It is recommended that all SAPS social workers be exposed to supervision / consultation, as a stress management mechanism. SAPS supervisors must be empowered, eg. Inservice training, to develop an effective supervion programme.
Social work / M.Diac. (Social Work)

Ouditproses van 'n kerklike welsynsorganisasie : n beskrywing van maatskaplike werkers se ervaringPretorius, Manda 06 1900 (has links)
Evaluation determines the impact of social services as well as job performance and
assures communities that social workers render effective services. Post audits are done
as part of performance management at the Christian Social Councils in the Highveld
Synodal Region.
The purpose of this research is to look at the experiences of social workers that had a
post audit to determine whether adjustments to improve the audit system are needed.
A qualitative approach with an exploratory, descriptive and contextual research design
was followed. Participants were identified according to the purposive sampling
method. Data was collected during semi-structured interviews. The data was analysed
and verified according to the models of Tesch (in Creswell, 2003) and Guba (in
Krefting, 1991), respectively, and processed in the research report. / Social Work / M. A. (Social Science)

The nature of collaboration between social workers and Isibindi child and youth care workers in rendering services to orphans and vulnerable childrenMapurazi, Michelle Nyarai 01 1900 (has links)
Text in English / Orphans and vulnerable children are increasingly forming a larger portion of the South African population. The escalating number of these children in communities is caused mainly by the loss of parents to HIV/AIDS. This poses a huge challenge for the government and organisations rendering social welfare services to these
orphans and vulnerable children.
This qualitative study sought to explore and describe the nature of collaboration between social workers and child and youth workers in rendering services to orphans and vulnerable children in the Free State province. The non-probability sampling technique of purposive sampling guided the data collection process using in-depth one on one semi structured interviews as a data collection method. Finally
the data was analysed by means of Creswell’s data analysis spiral followed by the
principles of Guba for data verification. The ethical considerations adhered to throughout this study were informed consent, right to privacy, avoidance of deception, debriefing of participants, management of information.
The rationale was that overlapping boundaries exist when the two professions work
together in addressing the needs of orphans and vulnerable children. The findings of
the research confirmed that there are no clear guidelines on the collaboration of social workers and child and youth care workers, although personal efforts are made for a healthy working relationship. Recommendations were made in relation to the findings. / Social Work / M.A. (Social Work)
