The Effect of Well Trajectory on Production Performance of Tight Gas WellsAldousari, Mohammad 2011 December 1900 (has links)
Horizontal wells are a very important element in oil and gas industry due to their distinguished advantages. Horizontal wells are not technically horizontal. This is because of the structural nature of reservoir formations and drilling procedures. In response to the reservoir rock’s strength, the horizontal well deviates upward and downward while being drilled forming an undulating path instead of a horizontal. In this study, horizontal wells with an undulating trajectory within a gas reservoir have been studied. The aim of this research is to investigate the effect of the trajectory angle on pressure drop in horizontal wells. In addition, the contribution of water flow to pressure drop is a part of this research. Generally, water comes from different sources like an aquifer or a water flood job. In low permeability horizontal wells, hydraulic fracturing introduces water to gas wells. Water distribution is an important issue in gas wells production. In order to achieve the goal of this study, a model has been developed to simulate different situations for a horizontal well with an undulating trajectory in gas reservoirs. This study is a step forward to understand well performance in low permeability gas reservoirs.

The Space Between Us: An Inquiry Into BelongingLyster, Kim Pamela Boutwell 17 April 2015 (has links)
This thesis explores the topic of belonging: both the sense and experience of it
as well as the relationship to individual and collective well-being. Through in-depth
interviews with five leaders and advocates in the social justice community,
I explore their perspectives on the topic, significant influences, the power of the
experience, and the relationship between inclusion and belonging. Further, the
capacity for belonging to influence and impact social issues such as
marginalization, discrimination, and poverty are explored. Methods for fostering
belonging are also considered with a view to suggesting recommendations for
promoting a lens of belonging as a means for renewing a commitment to the beloved community. / Graduate

Löpträning och välbefinnandeNekby, Amanda January 2014 (has links)

Electrical methods in mineral well loggingRoy, Jean, 1943- January 1984 (has links)
Development work in the field of mineral borehole logging was made in the areas of instrumentation, field testing, data processing and interpretation. / Instrumentation work included a VLF logging tool compatible with a field digital computer configured to perform log instrumentation control, numerical data acquisition and recording together with video screen graphic display. Significant improvements in the overall precision and reliability of the logging operation has been realized through the use of digital technology. / The field tests included the measurements of the following parameters: electrical resistivity, induced polarization, spontaneous polarization, electromagnetic field ratio and phase difference and temperature. The tests were performed for a wide variety of environments and targets including massive and disseminated sulfides, structural problems, coal and gold fields on properties located in Eastern Canada from Sudbury to Cape Breton Island. / The interpretation of the data yields information complementing core information such as detection of materials with some electric property contrast, localization of off-hole mineralization both in massive and disseminated form and determination of absolute value of specific in-situ rock physical properties. A better understanding of several underground processes (such as SP, uniform field induction, etc.) has resulted from the project.

College Student Athletes and Psychological Well-being in RetirementShander, Karolina 08 1900 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to investigate college student athletes' psychological health and well-being in the months immediately following graduation/retirement, which has been indicated as a critical time period. Participants consisted of collegiate athletes (N = 166; women = 138, men = 28; Mage = 21.84 years, SD = 0.86) who were surveyed at the end of their competitive seasons when they were graduating and retiring from their sports (Time 1) and 3 to 4 months later (Time 2). Athletes completed measures of readiness to graduate/retire, depression, body satisfaction, and satisfaction with life at Time 1; they completed the measures of psychological well-being at Time 2. Bivariate correlations revealed six dimensions of retirement readiness related to outcomes at Time 2: seeing self as more than an athlete, maintaining social support, neglecting other areas of life, achieving sport goals, utilizing sport career services and developing a new focus after retirement. Through a series of hierarchical regression analyses, one of reach psychological well-being outcome, I entered the Time 1 measure and gender in Step 1 and then the correlated dimensions for that outcome at Step 2. For body satisfaction, F(5, 160) = 27.281, p < .000, adj. R2 = .443, only Time 1 Body Satisfaction was a significant predictor (β = .639). For depressive symptoms, F(5, 160) = 17.110, p < .000, adj. R2 = .328, Time 1 depression (β = .462) predicted higher levels whereas developing a new focus upon ending career their sport career predicted less depression at Time 2 (β = -.161). Finally, for satisfaction with life, F(7, 158) = 18.336, p < .000, adj. R2 = .424, being male (β = -.165), being more satisfied with one's life at Time 1 (β = .436), maintaining social support networks (β = .199), and having a new focus upon ending sport careers (β = .140) predicted more life satisfaction at Time 2. Although no dimensions were significantly related to higher body satisfaction, a new focus after retirement and social support were essential in understanding the athletes' satisfaction with life and depressive symptoms three to four months post retirement. Future research may continue to apply longitudinal methods to follow the retirement process up to six months to a year, explore gender, race, and NCAA Division differences, identify what is incorporated in an athlete's new focus or examine other dimensions of body image that may better represent it during retirement. Universities may look to implement career assistance programs focusing on these psychosocial factors to prepare athletes for their retirement experiences.
