[pt] Trata-se de um estudo de uma situação no campo, numa comunidade oriunda das favelas Rocinha e Vila Canoas, que se reúne, há mais de duas décadas, inicialmente motivada por um dos projetos assistenciais da Paróquia de São Conrado. A principal meta que serviu de suporte aos objetivos pretendidos foi a tentativa de demonstrar a articulação entre a função da imagem como dispositivo técnico; seu lugar na mediação da experiência com a comunidade e a construção de saber como um dos efeitos possíveis. Para tanto, tomou-se como eixo de condução da investigação o conceito de exotopia ( Bakhtin ), pois ele indica que a visão que o sujeito tem de si mesmo é constituída pelo olhar e pela palavra do outro, considerando a posição espacial deste. Além disto, são observados outros subsídios teóricos, no sentido de apontar a contribuição de uma leitura crítica da organização contemporânea, na tentativa de compreender a construção da subjetividade atual. Partiu-se de um olhar-escuta, decorrente da inserção do pesquisador no campo de investigação, obtendo-se diálogos dos participantes, nos quais era assinalada a modalidade de construção de discursos num contexto alteritário de produção dialógica. No encontro com a situação-objeto de estudo, procurou-se dar voz aos participantes, no sentido de focalizar a atenção na produção e também nas possibilidades de cada um se posicionar criticamente em relação às demandas da comunidade e, além disto, construir projetos que culminem na ação partilhada. Da leitura empreendida nas imagens produzidas e nos diálogos obtidos, constatouse que a imagem, no discurso da comunidade, mostrou ser, estrategicamente, uma modalidade de intervenção em vários aspectos: conferiu visibilidade a cada participante; instaurou discursividade de modo crítico sobre o sujeito, sobre o contexto relacional, sobre a história, referida ao percurso existencial e ao modus vivendi atual, a uma vida digna e, enfim, à esperança de o vídeo despertar interesse e responsabilidade em outras instâncias, que têm poder de resolução, também afetadas pelos conteúdos de seus discursos. / [en] This is a field situation study of a community group originating from Rocinha and Vila Canoas, slums in Rio de Janeiro, that has been meeting for more than two decades, originally motivated by one of the assistance projects of the Paróquia de São Conrado. The main goal that gave support to the intended objectives was the attempt to demonstrate the articulation between the role of image as a technical device, its place in the mediation of the experience with the community and the construction of knowledge as one of its possible effects. For this purpose, it was elected as the axis of the conduction of the investigation, the concept of exotopy (Bakhtin), since it indicates that the vision that the subject has of himself is constituted by the look and the word of the other, considering its spatial position. Other theoretical subsidies have been taken into consideration, in the sense of pointing out the contribution of a critical reading of the contemporary organization, in trying to understand the construction of contemporary subjectivity. Starting from a look-listening derived from the insertion of the researcher in the field of the investigation, dialogues between the participants of the group have been gathered, in which it was pointed out the modality of discourse construction in an alteritarian context of dialogical production. At the encounter with the situation/object of study, the idea was to give voice to the participants, in the sense of focusing the attention on the production and also on the possibilities of each one to assume a critical position in relation to the demands made by the community and in addition to build projects that end in shared action. From the reading of the images produced and the dialogues obtained it was found that the image in the discourse of the community proved to be a way of intervention in many aspects: it brought visibility to each participant, it set up discursivity in a critical way about each subject, about the relational context, about the history, referred to the existential course and the contemporary way of life, to a dignified life and last, the hope that the video will wake up interest and responsibility in the instances that detain the power of decision, also affected by the content of the discourses.

[pt] O presente estudo buscou investigar a adolescência, focalizando as concepções e vivências das relações amorosas de indivíduos neste período do desenvolvimento, pertencentes às chamadas camadas populares do Rio de Janeiro, o que se deu através de entrevistas semi- estruturadas, cujos temas incluíam o envolvimento em namoros, relacionamentos esporádicos como ficar, manifestações da sexualidade, perspectivas futuras de casamento e formação de família. A opção por esta camada social foi feita pelo fato de a maior parte das pesquisas sobre a questão das relações amorosas referir-se às camadas média/alta, e pela compreensão de que diferentes realidades sócio- econômicas podem vir a influenciar vivências da adolescência. Utilizando como referencial teórico básico os autores da abordagem psicanalítica, realizou-se inicialmente um levantamento bibliográfico sobre a adolescência. Passou-se, então, ao tema das relações amorosas, subdividido em uma revisão de sua evolução através dos tempos, seguida de um levantamento de dados encontrados em pesquisas recentes, considerações sobre as novas formas de relacionamentos e estudos específicos sobre as classes populares. Finalmente, apresentaram-se e discutiram-se os resultados da pesquisa de campo realizada, que apontou para o desejo, por parte dos adolescentes entrevistados, de relações duradouras, com envolvimento afetivo, possibilitada através do ficar, que proporciona o maior conhecimento do parceiro desejado. / [en] This essay aimed to investigate adolescence, focusing on love relations conceptions and experiences on teenagers from Rio de Janeiro`s lower classes, what was made possible through semi-structured interviews including themes such as love, boyfriends/girlfriends, dating, short relationships, sexuality expressions, future ideas of marriage and starting a family. The choice for this social class was due to the perception that the majority of studies concerning love relations refers to people from the upper classes, and we understand that different realities may affect experiences in the teenage period. Using psychoanalytical authors as reference, first it was made theoretical revision on adolescence. Then, love relations were studied as a theme, divided in its transformations through history, followed by results of recent researches, considerations about new relations and specific studies on lower classes. Finally, the results of the field research were presented and discussed, and they pointed to the desire, from the interviewed teenagers, for long lasting relations including affections, what is generally made possible by a period of dating, when the couple get to know each other better.

[pt] O ponto de partida desta tese é o debate em torno de políticas de ação afirmativa voltadas para afro- descendentes e estudantes oriundos de escolas públicas no Rio de Janeiro. No âmbito deste debate, lanço meu olhar para o papel da cultura escrita no interior do projeto de vir a ser universitário entre os setores populares. Afastando-me da ideologia do déficit, procuro enfrentar a discussão sobre a desigualdade imposta pelo sistema educacional no Brasil, no que diz respeito, especificamente, à relação dos setores populares com a cultura escrita. Com este objetivo, foram realizadas entrevistas e observação participante em duas universidades, sendo uma pública e outra privada. Houve, também, um processo de imersão em uma comunidade de baixa renda e, além disso, buscou-se estabelecer uma aproximação em três espaços de formação engajados nos movimentos de inclusão e permanência destes setores na universidade: um pré-vestibular comunitário e dois projetos desenvolvidos nas duas universidades com o objetivo de minimizar as dificuldades específicas apresentadas por estes grupos em relação à leitura e à escrita. Trabalhando com o conceito da leitura e da escrita como práticas sociais, a pesquisa aponta para a dimensão formadora da universidade (ao menos as que foram pesquisadas), menos por eventuais estratégias pedagógicas, mas, principalmente, por processos de socialização em uma comunidade de leitores formada por professores com nível de letramento elevado e um ambiente favorável. A universidade é apontada como um espaço propício à apreensão do habitus destas práticas, seus gestos e objetos que compõem um tipo de sociabilidade característico e que, por diversas razões, infelizmente, não se dá de forma satisfatória, ao longo dos ensinos fundamental e médio. / [en] The starting point of this thesis is the debate that surrounds affirmative action policy concerning African descendants, and students coming from public schools, in the state of Rio de Janeiro. In the context of this debate, the role of written culture is considered within the project of becoming a university student. Steering clear of deficit ideology, this thesis aims at confronting the discussion about inequalities determined by the Brazilian educational system, specifically concerning the relationship between the popular classes and written culture. Interviews and participant observations were carried out in two universities, one of them public and the other private. A process of immersion in a low-income community was carried out, as well as investigation of three educational spaces engaged in movements of inclusion and permanence of these groups in the university: a community admission examinations preparation course and two projects developed in the universities, the objective of which is to minimize the specific difficulties regarding reading and writing presented by members of these groups. Working with the concept of reading and writing as social practice, the research points to the formative dimension of university, less as a result of specific pedagogic strategies than through socialization processes in a community of readers composed of literate teachers and a propitious environment. The university is shown to be an advantageous space for the acquisition of the habitus of these practices, their gestures and objects, which comprise a characteristic kind of sociability that, unfortunately, for various reasons, is not satisfactorily accomplished during elementary and secondary education.

[pt] Esta pesquisa teve como objetivo desenhar um estudo contextual voltado para o conhecimento do perfil sociodemográfico e cultural e das trajetórias escolares dos alunos matriculados na educação de jovens e adultos, especificamente no Projeto de Educação Juvenil - PEJ, da Secretaria Municipal de Educação do Rio de Janeiro. Trata- se de um estudo-piloto, ou seja, de uma versão em menor escala de um estudo completo, cujo objetivo foi testar aspectos do desenho da pesquisa, tais como o questionário e a amostra de alunos matriculados no PEJ em 2003, os procedimentos de coleta e a preparação da base de dados e a variância nas respostas, compreendendo, desta forma, as etapas inerentes a um survey. A dissertação aborda detalhadamente essas etapas e seus produtos e apresenta considerações preliminares sobre as dimensões sociodemográfica, socioeconômica e cultural e sobre as trajetórias escolares dos alunos matriculados no programa, a partir da análise dos dados quantitativos coletados. / [en] The principal objective of this research was to design a contextual study aimed at discovering the sociodemographic and cultural profile, as well as the school trajectories, of the students registered in the youth education project (Projeto de Educação Juvenil - PEJ) of the Municipal Secretariat of Education, Rio de Janeiro. The research constitutes a pilot study, that is, a small scale version of a complete study, whose objective was to test aspects of the research design, such as the questionnaire and the sample of students registered in the PEJ in 2003, the processes of data collection, preparation of the data base and the variation of responses, comprehending the inherent stages of a survey. The dissertation details these stages and their products, based on the quantitative data collected, presenting preliminary considerations on the sociodemographic, socio-economic and cultural dimensions, as well as the school trajectories, of the students registered in the project.
