[pt] O objetivo deste estudo é investigar o desconforto criado ao longo de uma entrevista entre dois professores de Língua Inglesa acerca do tema Gêneros Discursivos. Para alcançar tal propósito, analisarei como o professor participante e a pesquisadora interagiram durante a conversa de pesquisa. O foco da análise centra-se na organização da fala dos dois participantes, nas mudanças de enquadre e de alinhamento, bem como nos elementos discursivos que sugerem momentos de desconforto. A arquitetura teórica fundamenta-se nos estudos realizados por Erving Goffman e pela Sociolinguística Interacional (1967, 1974). Os dados foram gerados por meio de uma entrevista semiestruturada, entendida como evento discursivo, conforme proposto por Elliot Mishler (1986). A análise dos dados apoia-se nos estudos desenvolvidos pela Análise da Conversa Etnometodológica, que propõe um olhar micro para os elementos discursivos presentes na interação. A metodologia de pesquisa, de natureza qualitativa e interpretativa, busca aprofundar o entendimento da (re)construção de momentos de desconforto. Ocorrências frequentes de gaguejos, hesitações e accounts indicam momentos de forte desconforto, insegurança e assimetria entre os participantes. Por outro lado, após o momento inicial de incômodos, há uma mudança na postura interacional dos professores, com situações de menor desconforto marcadas discursivamente por frases concisas, pelo desaparecimento dos gaguejos e das hesitações e por um número menor de accounts. Tais considerações sugerem a relevância desta dissertação de refletir sobre a geração de dados em pesquisas acadêmicas através de entrevistas, que mesmo entre pessoas conhecidas, pode vir a causar desconforto entre os participantes. / [en] The objective of this study is to investigate the discomfort created during an interview between two English teachers about the topic Discursive Genres. To achieve this purpose, we will analyze how the participating teacher and the researcher interacted during the conversation. The focus of the analysis is centered on the participants speech organization, changes of frame and alignment as well as discursive elements that indicate moments of discomfort. The theoretical architecture is based on studies developed by Erving Goffman and by the field of Interactional Sociolinguistics. The data was generated using a semistructured interview, based on the conception of interview as a discursive event, proposed by Elliot Mishler. Data analysis was based on studies in Ethnomethodological Conversational Analysis, which proposes a micro-analytical look at the discourse elements of the interaction. The research methodology, of a qualitative and interpretive nature, seeks to deepen the understanding about the (re)construction of moments of discomfort. Frequent stuttering occurrences, hesitations and accounts indicate moments of strong discomfort, insecurity and asymmetry between the participants. On the other hand, after the initial uncomfortable moment, there is a change in the teachers interactional posture, with situations of little discomfort discursively marked by concise sentences, disappearance of stuttering and hesitations and fewer accounts. Such considerations point to the importance of reflecting on how academic research may cause discomfort between participants, even when they are friends, thus suggesting the relevance of the research developed in this dissertation.

[pt] Esta tese propõe-se a desenvolver o conceito de memória do desconforto como um articulador de sentido em obras literárias contemporâneas em contraposição à noção de memória apaziguada, buscando apontar que o primeiro conceito enfatiza o caráter disruptivo da memória, demonstrando que muitas lembranças numa narrativa de uma história de vida servem justamente à incompreensão, insatisfação e desconforto, enquanto a outra enfoca uma postura de apaziguar as lacunas da memória forjando um conceito ilusório de segurança e paz. Para tanto, foram analisadas e comparadas obras literárias de José Saramago (As pequenas memórias), Pedro Nava (em especial Baú de Ossos e Beira-Mar), Amadou Hampâté Bâ (Amkoullel: o menino fula) e Antônio Lobo Antunes (A morte de Carlos Gardel e O manual dos inquisidores), tendo como pano de fundo proposições teóricas da Sociologia do Conhecimento, dos Estudos Culturais e dos Estudos de Memória. / [en] This thesis proposes to develop the concept of memory of discomfort as an articulatory tool of meaning in contemporary literary works as opposed to the notion of pacified memory, pointing that the first concept emphasizes the disruptive nature of memory, showing that many memories in a narrative of a life story serve better to misunderstanding, dissatisfaction and discomfort, while the other focuses on an attitude of pacifying the gaps of memory forging an elusive concept of security and peace. Thus, this thesis analyzes and compares some literary works namely José Saramago (As pequenas memórias), Pedro Nava (especially Baú de ossos and Beira-Mar), Amadou Hampâté Bâ (Amkoullel: o menino fula) and António Lobo Antunes (A morte de Carlos Gardel and O manual dos inquisidores), with the backdrop of theoretical propositions of Sociology of Knowledge, Cultural Studies and Memory Studies.
