[en] DIAGNOSIS OF THE REVERSE DISTRIBUTION CHANNEL IN RECYCLE OF PLASTICS RESIDUES: POLYSTYRENE AND POLYETHYLENE TEREPHTHALATE / [pt] DIAGNÓSTICO DO CANAL DE DISTRIBUIÇÃO REVERSO NA RECICLAGEM DOS RESÍDUOS PLÁSTICOS: POLIESTIRENO E POLIETILENO TEREFTALATODEBORAH FRANCISCO RODRIGUES 12 April 2004 (has links)
ambientais e a crescente sensibilidade ecológica, com a
propagação do conceito do desenvolvimento sustentável e
final. Este trabalho pretende apresentar, em linhas
gerais, a logística reversa relacionada à reciclagem de
resíduos plásticos. Para isso, foi diagnosticado o canal
reverso de distribuição da reciclagem dos resíduos
plásticos de Poliestireno e Polietileno Tereftalato,
analisando oito empresas integrantes deste canal no
[en] The accelerated technological development produces an
early obsolescence of the products. With the increase the
number of products with its useful life progressively
smaller, the number of generated residues grows bringing
to the exhaustion the capacity of the tradicional systems
of disposition of residues. Given this scenario,
alternatives are studied for the final destination of the
goods, in order to minimize the resulting environmental
impact. In addition, the legislations concerned with
environmental subjects, the growing ecological sensibility
with the sustainable development and the new beginnings of
environmental protection (like EPR - Extended Product
Responsability) are requiring reduced environment impacts.
In this context, Reverse Logistics is developing processes
to direct the goods back to production, whenever possible,
or to final destination. This work intends to present in
general lines the reverse logistics related to recycling
plastics residues. This work has diagnosed the reverse
distribution channel in the recycling of plastic residues
of Polystyrene and Polyethylene Terephthalate. Eight
companies located in the State of Rio de Janeiro which
operate in this channel have been chosen for interviewing.
In addition, two other companies have been included in the
research, one located in the State of São Paulo, and
recycling PET, was evaluated through the Internet, and
another operating with a new type of automatic collection
was evaluated through published reports.

[en] ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING FOR EMERGENCIES: REPLACEMENT PARTS FOR NON-INVASIVE VENTILATORS / [pt] MANUFATURA ADITIVA PARA EMERGÊNCIAS: REPOSIÇÃO DE PEÇAS PARA RESPIRADORES NÃO-INVASIVOSRAPHAEL DE PINHO VINAGRE 31 August 2023 (has links)
A pesquisa busca entender as
medicina e design, instigando novas pesquisas neste campo interdisciplinar.
Além disso, discute a implementação do
Sugere a
[en] This Master s dissertation examines the potentialities and limitations of
additive manufacturing in the production of medical devices in response to the
growing global demand during the COVID-19 pandemic. The research seeks to
understand the implications of project adaptations, compliance with regulations,
and the creation of a resilient and sustainable production chain, using low-cost 3D
printers. Furthermore, the research instigates reflections on the intersection between
medicine and design, stimulating new research in this interdisciplinary field.
The study delves into the analysis of design adaptations and explores an
alternative production chain that is more resilient and has less environmental
impact. The research considers the possibility of using hospital waste as raw
material for the production of medical components, a practice that can reduce
disposal costs and the carbon footprint. In addition, it discusses the implementation
of DRAM (Distributed Recycling and Additive Manufacturing) in hospital
environments to respond to health demands in scenarios of supply chain disruption.
The research raises important questions about the frontier between medicine
and technology, highlighting the importance of ethical and social responsibility in
scientific and technological evolution. It argues the importance of proper
maintenance of medical equipment and the vital role that additive manufacturing
can play in the quick production of replacement parts, especially in emergency
situations, such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
With a detailed analysis of the elbow, a practical project developed during
the master s program, the research identifies the need for restructuring
manufacturing processes, taking into account economic and geographic factors. The
project s experience instigated enriching discussions about the role of the designer,
the power of digital manufacturing technology, and the relevance of this activity in
emergency situations.

[pt] DESTINAÇÃO DE SUCATAS MILITARES PARA A INDÚSTRIA SIDERÚRGICA, POR MEIO DE MINI MILLS / [en] DISPOSAL OF MILITARY SCRAP FOR THE STEEL INDUSTRY THROUGH MINI MILLSDIMITRIUS FRANCA LINS 20 May 2020 (has links)
[en] Seeking to maintain its operational capacity and rationalize its means, the Brazilian Army has recently undergone a renewal of its fleet of vehicles, including armored vehicles, administrative vehicles such as ambulances and automobiles, and unshielded operating vehicles on wheels, such as jeeps and
trucks. This renovation process allowed older vehicles with more than 15 years of use to be auctioned. Not all vehicles are purchased at auctions held for various reasons, such as high recovery and maintenance values, low commercial value, etc., and are stored on patios in military areas throughout
the country, categorized as scrap, awaiting opening of new bidding processes. Usually these new processes have the same negative result, not selling. Faced with new acquisitions of vehicles already made and future acquisitions announced, more vehicular units will be rendered useless, indicating an increase in the number of military scrap. In this context, this work carried out a study to assign military scrap to the steel industry, presenting the legal viability for vehicle depletion, formulating a sustainable
process, through the concept of circular economy, causing positive impacts to the environment with the elimination of scraps, and generating, with this project, revenues in the order of 3.6 million reais for the Army.

[en] THE MECHANICAL BIOLOGICAL TREATMENT WASTE IN THE CITY OF RIO DE JANEIRO / [pt] O TRATAMENTO MECÂNICO E BIOLÓGICO NA GESTÃO DE RESÍDUOS NO MUNICÍPIO DO RIO DE JANEIROJUSSARA OLIVEIRA DO NASCIMENTO 02 May 2019 (has links)
[en] The progress of humanity and the encouragement of increased consumerism have generated the supply and mass consumption products. A greater extent, so does the production of waste in the world, together with the scarcity of non-renewable resources in the long term, climate change, have diverted attention to environmentally sustainable practices involving waste management.
In this context, the Management of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW), translates into a complex process that requires multidisciplinary views, working from the logistics in the process of collection, storage and disposal of waste to the Biology, Chemistry and Thermodynamics, given the diversity of techniques and technologies available for your treatment and recovery in the market. Social development is also an important point, since in countries like Brazil recycling is an activity that generates resources for social classes with lower purchasing power. In addition to operating in the production of consumer goods from waste, much of the recyclable materials back to the market due to the work of sorters, people with very low income, who are in this profession a form of survival. These factors are relevant to the implementation of any management system, which requires significant investment and participation of the public authorities, both legislative and executive. Developed countries, such as members of the European Union (EU), are far ahead in MSW Management, seeking ways of dealing with their waste less and less impactful to the environment. Brazil still is a more technical phase and less practical than the EU, but has important advances. In 2010, entered into force on National Solid Waste Policy (NSWP), established by Law 12.305. This Policy establishes strategies and deadlines for the Brazilian sustainable development, reviews the hierarchy of priorities in waste treatment and imposes the reverse logistics system, and treat life-cycle of products and encourage the reuse, recycling of materials and composting waste, eliminating the dumps and leaving foster landfilling, lagging only this waste without a more favorable allocation to the environment and saving resources.
