[en] SYNTHESIS AND CHARACTERIZATION OF NANOSTRUCTURED IRON-NICKEL ALLOYS / [pt] SÍNTESE E CARACTERIZAÇÃO DE LIGAS FE-NI NANOESTRUTURADASORFELINDA AVALO CORTEZ 23 January 2009 (has links)
no tempo reacional.
FexNi100-x (x = 25, 50, and 75 w%) têm sido preparadas com
sucesso por
decomposição térmica de nitratos (formação de óxidos) e
posterior redução com
hidrogênio a 700ºC (formação das ligas). As ligas Fe-Ni,
25nm. A fase rica em Ni,
liga Fe25Ni75, apresentou uma estrutura γ(FCC). A liga
Fe50Ni50 apresentou a
[en] Nickel oxide and hematite nanostructured were successfully
prepared by
thermal decomposition from nickel nitrate hexahydrate and
ferric nitrate nonahydrate
in the temperature range of 350-450°C with variation of the
time. The average
crystallite sizes of NiO and Fe2O3 were estimated from X-ray
diffraction (XRD)
peaks using the PowderCell and Topas software. We observed
that the crystallite size
changes as a function of synthesis temperature. The
significant result was the large
size of the resulting NiO crystallites, which increased from
31nm (T=350°C, 3hr) to
98nm (T=450°C, 5hr). Kinetic studies of the reduction of NiO
and Fe2O3 by
hydrogen in the temperature range 250-600°C have been
investigated. Nanostructured
Fe-Ni alloys with compositions FexNi100-x (x = 25, 50, and
75 w%) have been
successively prepared by thermal decomposition from mixtures
of nitrates (formation
of oxides) and reduction by hydrogen at 700ºC (formation of
alloys). The Fe-Ni
alloys, characterized by X-ray diffraction show crystallites
sizes about 25nm. The Nirich
phase, Fe25Ni75 alloys show the existence of γ(FCC) phase.
The Fe50Ni50 alloy
show the existence of tetragonal phase. The Fe-rich phase,
Fe75Ni25 alloy, contain a
mixture of α(BCC) and γ(FCC) phases. The coexistence of
these phases is attributed
to phase segregation occurring in these alloys as a result
of enhanced atomic
diffusion. It was inferred from results of magnetic
measurements at 300K, that
nanostructured Fe-Ni alloys were in a superparamagnetic state.

[en] ASSESSING THE INFLUENCE OF NACL ON THE REDUCTION OF A SAPROLITE LATERITE NICKEL ORE UNDER CARON PROCESS CONDITIONS / [pt] EFEITO DA PRÉ-REDUÇÃO COM HIDROGÊNIO, NA PRESENÇA DE NACL, SOBRE A LIXIVIAÇÃO AMONIACAL DE UM MINÉRIO SAPROLÍTICO DE NIVICTOR DE ALVARENGA OLIVEIRA 09 December 2021 (has links)
[en] The reduction by hydrogen and the thermal decomposition of a lateritic saprolite nickel ore were studied using the thermogravimetric technique (TGA). The identification of the mineral phases generated after the processing was carried out using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy coupled to a
dispersive energy spectrometer (SEM/EDS) techniques. The reduced ore was leached in amoniacal solution and the low value of nickel extraction (≈3 percent) were attributed to the formation of forsterite and enstatite. Thus reduction test were carried out in the presence of chemicals (Na2CO3, NaCl and S8) and the highest extractions values were found for the tests using 10 percent NaCl. Finally, reduction
tests on H2 atmosphere in rotary kiln were performed in the presence of NaCl and the product of the reaction was leached in ammoniacal solution. The presence of only 1 percent of NaCl in the furnace increased the nickel extraction values from ≈3 percent to ≈ 90 percent when the experiment was carried out at 850°C. According to the results of X ray diffractometry (XRD) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) the presence of NaCl in the system and the reducing atmosphere of H2 promote the segregation of nickel according to the following steps: 1).. Nickel oxide reduction by hydrogen: NiO + H2(g) → Ni + H2O(g). 2) Formation of HCl: Al2SiO5 + 2NaCl + SiO2 + H2O à 2HCl(g) + 2NaAlSiO4. 3). Chlorination of metallic nickel by HCl: Ni + 2HCl(g) → NiCl2 + H2(g). 4). Reduction of nickel chloride by hydrogen: NiCl2 + H2(g) → Ni + 2HCl(g).
