Calculs théoriques de corrections nucléaires aux taux de transitions β super-permises pour les tests du Modèle Standard / Theoretical calculation of nuclear structure corrections to the superallowed Fermi β decay rates for the tests of the Standard Model

La conservation du courant faible vectoriel, connue par CVC est une des hypothèses fondamentales du Modèle Standard de l'interaction électrofaible. En revanche, la base théorique de cette hypothèse est seulement l'analogie avec la théorie de l'interaction électromagnétique et la question de sa validité reste posée. La CVC est vérifiable dans les transitions super-permises, 0+ → 0+, T = 1 car elle prédit que le grandeur Ft (≡ ft corrigée) de ces processus à basse énergie doit être indépendant des noyaux mis en jeu. Si la valeur unique de Ft est trouvée, on peut toute de suite déduire la constante du couplage vectorielle GV , reliée à │Vud│, la norme de l'élément le plus important de la matrice du mélange des quarks de Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM). Cet élément de matrice joue un rôle crucial dans le test de l'unitarité de la matrice CKM, une autre hypothèse de base du Modèle Standard. Actuellement, 14 transitions super-permises allant du 10C jusqu'au 74Rb sont expérimentalement connues avec une précision meilleure que 0:1%, Cela fait en sorte que l'accès à la constante de couplage est limité par les corrections théoriques, dues aux effets radiatifs et à la brisure de la symétrie d'isospin. Le principal propos de cette thèse est de ré-examiner la correction due au défaut du recouvrement entre les fonctions d'onde radiales de neutrons et celles de protons (ᵟRO) dans le cadre du modèle en couches. Nos calculs sont basés sur l'expansion des éléments de matrice de Fermi sur les états du noyau intermédiaire, développée précédemment par Towner et Hardy [1]. Cette méthode combine les fonctions d'onde radiales réalistes avec les données spectroscopiques obtenues par un calcul à large échelle, permettant ainsi d'aller au-delà des approches traditionnelles. Nous avons considéré 13 transitions super-permises, y comprises : 22Mg, 26Al, 26Si, 30S, 34Cl, 34Ar, 38K, 38Ca, 46V, 50Mn, 54Co, 62Ga et 66As. Les fonctions d'onde radiales sont déterminées avec un potentiel moyen réaliste, tel que le potentiel phénoménologique de Woods-Saxon (WS) ou le potentiel auto-cohérent de Hartree-Fock (HF) dérivé à partir d'une force effective de Skyrme. Les calculs ont été faits avec des différentes paramétrisations (2 paramétrisations WS et 3 forces de Skyrme) qui nous ont semblés être les meilleures et les plus appropriées à nos besoins. Dans un premier temps, des calculs par une méthode simple, sans prise en compte des états intermédiaires ont été réalisés. Avec le potentiel WS, les valeurs de ᵟRO obtenues sont fortement dépendantes de paramétrisation. Afin de clarifier cet effet, nous avons étudié en détail la sensibilité aux paramètres du potentiel avec une attention toute particulière apportée au terme isovectoriel et au terme coulombien. Cela a permis de mettre en évidence qu'une telle dépendance est entièrement dominée par le comportement isovectoriel du potentiel. Finalement, cette propriété inattendue a été bien maîtrisée par la procédure d'ajustement proposée. Nevertheless,the physics background of this hypothesis is nothing more than an analogyto the electromagnetic interaction's theory and the question of its validity remainsopen. The CVC is veri_able in the superallowed Fermi β-decays, 0+ → 0+, T = 1since it predicts that the Ft (≡ corrected ft) value of such low-energy processesmust be nucleus independent. Once the unique Ft value is found, one can immediatelydeduce the vector coupling constant GV , linked to │Vud, the norm of themost important element of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) quark-mixingmatrix. This matrix element plays a crucial role in the test of the unitarity of theCKM matrix, another fundamental hypothesis of the Standard Model.Currently, 14 superallowed transitions ranging from 10C to 74Rb are known experimentally with the precision 0.1% or better. This results in a fact that this studyis now limited by the theoretical corrections, due to the radiative and the isospin symmetry-breaking effects. The aim of this thesis is to re-examine the correction due to mismatch between proton and neutron radial wave functions (ᵟRO) within the framework of shell model. We adopted the method recently developed by Towner and Hardy [1]. This method combines realistic radial wave functions with spectroscopic informations obtained from a large-scale shell-model calculation, thus allowing us to go beyond traditional shell-model approaches. In this work, we considered 13 superallowed transitions, including : 22Mg, 26Al, 26Si, 30S, 34Cl, 34Ar, 38K, 38Ca, 46V, 50Mn, 54Co, 62Ga et 66As. The radial wave functions were determined with a realistic single-particle potential, such as the phenomenological Woods-Saxon (WS) potential or the self-consistent Hartree-Fock (HF) mean field derived from an effective Skyrme force. We selected various parametrizations (2 parametrizations for WS and 3 Skyrme forces for HF) that seem to us to be appropriate for our purposes. First, we performed the calculations with a simple method, without taking into account the intermediate states. The result indicates that ᵟRO obtained from WS potential is strongly parametrization dependent. In order to clarify this effect, we studied profoundly the sensitivity to potential parameters, paying particular attention to the isovector and the Coulomb terms.This study provided evidence that such a dependence is entirely dominated by the isovector part of the potential. However, using our proposed adjustment procedure, this problem appears to be well under control. We also examined the surface terms adopted in the work of Towner and Hardy [1], the result showed that one of these terms (the term Vh(r)) is not compatible with our adjustment procedure. (...)

The work deals with the analog design of low-voltage and low-power differential difference amplifier DDA with adaptive differential input stage, second stage class AB, improved by a self – cascode to achieve higher gain and slew rate. Conventional and unconventional techniques, and methods for low-voltage and low-power design are presented. The finished design of the differential difference amplifier DDA with the analyzed results is presented. Design of a Butterwortho low-pass filter of the sixth order based on DDA with Sallen Key topology and design of a multifunctional ARC filter based on DDA.

The evolution of Internet technologies has created  innovation in Information Management methods, there including intranet. Organizations implement an intranet to improve the Information Management for increasing organizational efficiency and productivity. Earlier studies have shown intranets contribution to dissolve the hierarchic and control structure in traditional organizations while some researcher has shown the intranet not to be open and social. The problem this study will investigate lies in the over belief on intranet. The aim of this study is to examine employee’s attitudes and the use of intranet in a traditional organization to generalize if traditional organizations make use of the benefits regarding Information Management. The question this study will answer is “How, and for what is the intranet used for by employees in a traditional organization” to examine if employee’s use of intranet fulfills a worth out of an Information Management-perspective. A quantitative method with qualitative elements was used to examine the studies aim. To collect data a survey was created and a System Usability Scale was utilized. The result showed that the users don’t find the intranet usable. The result also showed that employees uses the intranet daily but doesn’t find the content updated, motivated or and hard to find. The generalized conclusion is that the studies result emphasize that the effects on Information Management rather strengthens the hierarchic organizational structure then dissolving it. The intranet in traditional organization shows an opposite effect on Information Management.

<p>Ekolo&scaron;ki&nbsp; problem&nbsp; svetskih&nbsp; razmera&nbsp; predstavlja&nbsp; zagađenost&nbsp; sedimenta&nbsp; te&scaron;kim&nbsp; metalima, usled negativnih ekolo&scaron;kih efekata metala na životnu sredinu. Mnoge zemlje i regioni, kao i na&scaron;a zemlja&nbsp; suočavaju&nbsp; se&nbsp; sa&nbsp; ovom&nbsp; problematikom,&nbsp; koja&nbsp; je&nbsp; vrlo&nbsp; rasprostranjena&nbsp; usled&nbsp; sve&nbsp; brže urbanizacije&nbsp; i&nbsp; industrijalizacije,&nbsp; a&nbsp; sa&nbsp; sve&nbsp; većom&nbsp; nebrigom&nbsp; usled&nbsp; ispu&scaron;tanja&nbsp; otpadnih&nbsp; voda&nbsp; bez prethodnog&nbsp; preči&scaron;ćavanja&nbsp; u&nbsp; vodotokove.&nbsp; Prilikom&nbsp; promene&nbsp; uslova&nbsp; vodenog&nbsp; ekosistema,&nbsp; može doći do&nbsp; izluživanja&nbsp; metala&nbsp; i &scaron;tetnih efekata na&nbsp; životnu sredinu kao&nbsp; i&nbsp; na zdravlje&nbsp; ljudi. Stoga je remedijacija sedimenata zagađenih metalima ključna aktivnost u okviru procesa potpune sanacije vodenog ekosistema, a ekonomične, efikasne i ekolo&scaron;ki prihvatljive tehnike remedijacije su hitno potrebne&nbsp; i&nbsp; rado&nbsp; primenljive&nbsp; u&nbsp; tretmanu&nbsp; na&nbsp; velikoj&nbsp; skali.&nbsp; Pre&nbsp; primene&nbsp; remedijacione&nbsp; tehnike&nbsp; na velikoj skali, neophodna su ispitivanja pri laboratorijskim uslovima i pilot skali.&nbsp; Na kraju svakog uspe&scaron;nog&nbsp; laboratorijskog&nbsp; ispitivanja&nbsp; nalaze&nbsp; se&nbsp; pilot&nbsp; istraživanja.&nbsp; Pomoću&nbsp; njih&nbsp; se&nbsp; dobija&nbsp; p ravi odgovor u smislu izbora optimalne tehnologije imajući u vidu investicione i operativne tro&scaron;kove,<br />postignuti rezultat i krajnje ciljeve u pogledu upravljanja postrojenjem i otpadom. Konvencionalni&nbsp; materijali&nbsp; poput&nbsp; letećeg&nbsp; pepela,&nbsp; cementa,&nbsp; gline&nbsp; se&nbsp; već&nbsp; odavno&nbsp; koriste&nbsp; u&nbsp; ovu svrhu. Kako u dana&scaron;nje vreme raste potražnja za novim, lako dostupnim agensima za stabilizaciju<br />sedimenta, do&scaron;lo se na ideju o primeni nanomaterijala na bazi gvožđa, tj. nano Fe(0) stabilisanog nativnom glinom&nbsp; i produkovanog redukcijom pomoću organskih&nbsp; molekula prirodno prisutnih u ekstraktu&nbsp; li&scaron;ća&nbsp; hrasta&nbsp; i&nbsp; crnog&nbsp; duda.&nbsp; Nanomaterijali&nbsp; su&nbsp; sintetisani&nbsp; i&nbsp; karakterisani&nbsp; različitim metodama&nbsp; i&nbsp; tehnikama.&nbsp; U&nbsp; nastavaku,&nbsp; u&nbsp; cilju&nbsp; efikasnosti&nbsp; njihove&nbsp; primene&nbsp; za&nbsp; stabilizaciju sedimenta, sprovedeni su ekstrakcioni i dinamički laboratorijski testovi izluživanja. Odabrane su sme&scaron;e sedimenta i nanomaterijala koje su pokazale najbolju efikasnost tr etmana. Nakon toga se ispitivanje&nbsp; nastavilo&nbsp; na&nbsp; pilot&nbsp; skali,&nbsp; gde&nbsp; se&nbsp; pratilo&nbsp; pona&scaron;anje&nbsp; nanomaterijala&nbsp; u&nbsp; zavisnosti&nbsp; od konvencionalnih&nbsp; materijala&nbsp; koji&nbsp; su&nbsp; već&nbsp; u&nbsp; literaturi&nbsp; dokumentovani&nbsp; kao&nbsp; efikasni&nbsp; imobilizacioni agensi. Dodatna potvrda uspe&scaron;nosti tretmana data je analizom i karakterizacijom s/s sme&scaron;a nakon pilot&nbsp; ispitivanja&nbsp; Na&nbsp; osnovu&nbsp; dobijenih&nbsp; rezultata&nbsp; proces&nbsp; se&nbsp; uspe&scaron;no&nbsp; pokazao&nbsp; pri&nbsp; laboratorijskim uslovima,&nbsp; a&nbsp; takođe&nbsp; i&nbsp; prilikom&nbsp; pilot&nbsp; tretmana,&nbsp; odnosno&nbsp; nakon&nbsp; pilot&nbsp; tretmana&nbsp; nije&nbsp; do&scaron;lo&nbsp; do povećanih koncentracija&nbsp; izluživanja metala iz s/s sme&scaron;a, kao ni degradacije sme&scaron;a nakon procesa ovlaživanja&nbsp; tokom&nbsp; &scaron;est&nbsp; meseci.&nbsp; Na&nbsp; osnovu&nbsp; toga,&nbsp; ovako&nbsp; tertirani&nbsp; sediment&nbsp; se&nbsp; može&nbsp; bezbedno odlagati&nbsp; na&nbsp; deponije,&nbsp; ili&nbsp; pak&nbsp; iskoristiti&nbsp; za&nbsp; &bdquo;kontrolisanu&ldquo;&nbsp; upotrebu,&nbsp; izgradnju&nbsp; puteva,kamenoloma, pomoćnih objekata i slično. Rezultati su doprineli u cilju trajnijeg re&scaron;avanja pitanja odlaganja&nbsp; zagađenog&nbsp; (izmuljenog)&nbsp; rečnog&nbsp; sedimenta,&nbsp; pri&nbsp; čemu&nbsp; se&nbsp; u&nbsp; procesu stabilizacije/solidifikacije&nbsp; dobijaju&nbsp; proizvodi&nbsp; sa&nbsp; dodatom&nbsp; vredno&scaron;ću&nbsp; neumanjenog&nbsp; kvaliteta .Nanomaterijali sintetisani u ovom radu na&nbsp; bazi ekstrakta li&scaron;ća biljaka doprinose kako očuvanju životne&nbsp; sredine,&nbsp; tako&nbsp; i&nbsp; ekonomičnosti&nbsp; primene&nbsp; remedijacione&nbsp; tehnike.&nbsp; Zahvaljujući&nbsp; velikoj specifičnoj&nbsp; povr&scaron;ini,&nbsp; malim&nbsp; dimenzijama&nbsp; čestica&nbsp; i&nbsp; velikom&nbsp; kapacitetu&nbsp; za&nbsp; imobilizaciju&nbsp; te&scaron;kih<br />metala predstavljaju efikasnu alternativu komercijalno dostupnim materijalima, &scaron;to ih čini veoma atraktivnim&nbsp; i&nbsp; obećavajućim&nbsp; u&nbsp; budućnosti&nbsp; pri&nbsp; tretmanu&nbsp; rečnog&nbsp; sedimenta&nbsp; zagađenog&nbsp; te&scaron;kim metalima.</p> / <p>The pollution of sediment by heavy metals represents a large environmental problem all<br />over the world.&nbsp; A&nbsp; lot of countries&nbsp; in the region&nbsp; as well as our country deal with this problem, which&nbsp; is&nbsp; widespread&nbsp; because&nbsp; of&nbsp; the&nbsp; fast&nbsp; urbanization&nbsp; and&nbsp; industrialization.&nbsp; There&nbsp; is&nbsp; more&nbsp; and more&nbsp; carelessness&nbsp; about&nbsp; wastewater&nbsp; discharge&nbsp; into&nbsp; water&nbsp; flows&nbsp; without&nbsp; previous&nbsp; purification. When the conditions of the aquatic ecosystem change, metal leaching and harmful effects on the environment&nbsp; and&nbsp; human&nbsp; health&nbsp; can&nbsp; occur.&nbsp; Therefore,&nbsp; remediation&nbsp; of&nbsp; metal-contaminated sediments&nbsp; is&nbsp; crucial&nbsp; activity&nbsp; in&nbsp; the&nbsp; process&nbsp; of&nbsp; the&nbsp; complete&nbsp; ecosystem&nbsp; remediation.&nbsp; Cost effective, efficient and environmentally friendly remediation techniques are urgently needed and readily applicable in large-scale treatment. Before applying remediation techniques on the largescale,&nbsp; both&nbsp; laboratory&nbsp; and&nbsp; pilot&nbsp; tests&nbsp; are&nbsp; necessary.&nbsp; There&nbsp; are&nbsp; pilot&nbsp; studies&nbsp; at&nbsp; the&nbsp; end&nbsp; of&nbsp; each successful&nbsp; laboratory&nbsp; test.&nbsp; Those&nbsp; studies&nbsp; provide&nbsp; the&nbsp; right&nbsp; answer&nbsp; in&nbsp; terms&nbsp; of&nbsp; choosing&nbsp; the optimal technology, taking into account the investment and operating costs,&nbsp;&nbsp; the achieved resultand&nbsp; the&nbsp; ultimate&nbsp; goals&nbsp; in&nbsp; terms&nbsp; of&nbsp; plant&nbsp; and&nbsp; waste&nbsp; management.&nbsp; In&nbsp; this&nbsp; study,&nbsp; the&nbsp; application<br />potential of stabilized and green&nbsp; -&nbsp; synthesized&nbsp; nano Fe(0) for the remediation of&nbsp; heavy&nbsp; metal&nbsp; -contaminated&nbsp; sediment&nbsp; was&nbsp; investigated.&nbsp; Stabilization&nbsp; /&nbsp; solidification&nbsp; technique&nbsp; was&nbsp; chosen&nbsp; as remediation technique which involves the addition of metal immobilizing agents in the sediment thus preventing the potential risk of metal leaching into the environment. Conventional materials such as fly ash, cement and clay have long been used for this purpose. Nowadays there is need for new, easily accessible agents for the sediment stabilization. Therefore it came up with the idea of&nbsp; using&nbsp; iron-based&nbsp; nanomaterials,&nbsp; ie.&nbsp; nano&nbsp; Fe(0)&nbsp; stabilized&nbsp; by&nbsp; native&nbsp; cla y&nbsp; and&nbsp; produced&nbsp; by reduction&nbsp; using&nbsp; organic&nbsp; molecules&nbsp; naturally&nbsp; present&nbsp; in&nbsp; oak&nbsp; and&nbsp; black&nbsp; mulberry&nbsp; leaf&nbsp; extract. Nanomaterials have been synthesized and characterized by different methods and techniques. In order&nbsp; to&nbsp; be&nbsp; effective&nbsp; in&nbsp; their&nbsp; application&nbsp; for&nbsp; sediment&nbsp; stabilization,&nbsp; extraction&nbsp; and&nbsp; dynamic laboratory leaching tests were performed. Mixtures of sediment and nanomaterials were selected that showed the best treatment efficiency.&nbsp; After that, the examination was continued on a pilot scale, where the behavior of nanomaterials was monitored, depending on conventional materials which&nbsp; have&nbsp; already&nbsp; been&nbsp; documented&nbsp; in&nbsp; the&nbsp; literature&nbsp; as&nbsp; effective&nbsp; immobilizing&nbsp; agents.Additional confirmation of treatment success was given by analysis and characterization of s / s mixtures&nbsp; after&nbsp; pilot&nbsp; testing.&nbsp; According&nbsp; to&nbsp; obtained&nbsp; results,&nbsp; the&nbsp; process&nbsp; was&nbsp; successfully demonstrated&nbsp; under&nbsp; laboratory&nbsp; conditions,&nbsp; and&nbsp; also&nbsp; during&nbsp; the&nbsp; pilot&nbsp; treatment.&nbsp; After&nbsp; the&nbsp; pilot treatment&nbsp; there&nbsp; were&nbsp; no&nbsp; increased&nbsp; concentrations&nbsp; of&nbsp; metal&nbsp; leaching&nbsp; from&nbsp; s/s&nbsp; mixtures,&nbsp; nor mixture degradation after the wetting process for six months. Based on that, the sediment treated in this way&nbsp; can&nbsp; be safely disposed of&nbsp; in&nbsp; landfills, or used&nbsp; for &quot;controlled&quot; use, construction of<br />roads,&nbsp; quarries,&nbsp; auxiliary&nbsp; facilities&nbsp; and&nbsp; etc.&nbsp; The&nbsp; results&nbsp; have&nbsp; contributed&nbsp; to the&nbsp; goal&nbsp; of&nbsp; a&nbsp; more permanent solution to the issue of disposal of polluted (slugged) river sediment, whereby in the process&nbsp; of&nbsp; stabilization/solidification,&nbsp; products&nbsp; with&nbsp; added&nbsp; value&nbsp; of&nbsp; undiminished&nbsp; quality&nbsp; are obtained. The nanomaterials synthesized in this paper on the basis of plant leaf extract contribute to both the preservation of the environment and the economy of remediation techniques. Thanks to their&nbsp; large specific&nbsp; surface area, small particle size and&nbsp; large ca pacity&nbsp; for&nbsp; immobilization of heavy&nbsp; metals,&nbsp; they&nbsp; represent&nbsp; an&nbsp; effective&nbsp; alternative&nbsp; to&nbsp; commercially&nbsp; available&nbsp;&nbsp; materials.&nbsp; It makes&nbsp; them&nbsp; very&nbsp; attractive&nbsp; and&nbsp; promising&nbsp; in&nbsp; the&nbsp; future&nbsp; in&nbsp; the&nbsp; treatment&nbsp; of&nbsp; river&nbsp; sediment contaminated with heavy metals.</p>

Nanoporous block copolymer stamps: design and applications

This thesis focuses on the surface patterning by using nanoporous block copolymer (BCP) stamps. Polystyrene‐block‐poly(2‐vinylpyridine) (PS‐b‐P2VP) was used as model BCP. Nanoporous BCP stamps were fabricated by replication of lithographically patterned silicon molds. Nanopores inside of BCP stamps were generated by swelling‐induced pore formation. A method for scanner-based capillary stamping (SCS) with spongy nanoporous BCP stamps was developed. First, in the course of stamps design using replication molding of PS-b-P2VP against surface-modified macroporous silicon molds, PS-b-P2VP fiber rings remaining on the macroporous silicon molds were obtained that allow immobilization of water drops on the hydrophobically modified surfaces of the macroporous silicon molds. Water drops immobilized by these rings can be prevented from dewetting within the PS‐b‐P2VP fiber rings. Second, after spongy nanoporous PS-b-P2VP stamps had been obtained, preliminary experiments with non-inked PS-b-P2VP stamps revealed that parts of the stamps’ contact elements can be lithographically transferred onto counterpart surfaces. As a result, arrays of nanostructured submicron PS‐b‐P2VP dots with heights of ∼100 nm onto silicon wafers and glass slides were produced. Lastly, the SCS technique was developed, which overcomes the limitation of time-consuming re-inking procedures associated with classical soft lithography including microcontact printing (µCP) and polymer pen lithography (PPL) with solid stamps, as well as the limitations regarding throughput of scanning probe‐based serial writing approaches such as nanoscale dispensing (NADIS) and other micropipetting techniques. In addition, sizes of stamped droplets can be controlled by adjusting surface wettability and dwell time.

Synthesis and Characterization of Functional Amphiphilic Gradient Copolymers by Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization

The purpose of this work was the synthesis of functional amphiphilic gradient copolymers by means of controlled radical polymerizations, more precisely Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization. Two different monomer combinations, tert- and n-butyl methacrylate and tert-butyl and benzyl methacrylate, were copolymerized. In a first step seven different linear statistical copolymers were synthesized by means of batch polymerization. They were used as comparative material and the analysis of the reaction kinetic yielded the effective rate constants and the copolymerization parameters of the monomers in the particular monomer systems. Furthermore required for gradient polymer syntheses AB-di-block copolymers were synthesized as a second kind of comparative material. With the results of the kinetic analysis the monomer addition programs for the semibatch polymerizations were calculated to prepare gradient copolymers. Four different gradient copolymers with different compositions of tBMA and nBMA (ftBMA= 0.5, 0.65, 0.75, 0.85) and one gradient copolymer of tBMA and BzMA (ftBMA= 0.5) were synthesized. All semibatch reactions proceeded controlled, i. e. with mostly suppressed termination reactions. The compositions of the resulting copolymers exhibited ''double-gradients''. The point of change of the compositions were located at 16%, respectively 11% of conversion. The effective compositional gradients φ = dF1/dp were φ = 0.53, 0.46, 0.28, 0.15 and 0.43. A systematic correlation between the thermal behavior of the gradient copolymers and their composition was not found, as opposed to the statistical and the di-block copolymers. Semibatch synthesis with online infrared-spectroscopy observation to control the monomer feed during the synthesis were used for the polymerization of gradient copolymers. It was not possible to calculate the change of compositions of the polymers because it was not known how much monomer was injected at a certain time of the polymerization. A second problem was that the experimental set-up was not gas-tight. Hence, oxygen led to termination reactions. Three different kinds of hydrolysis were investigated for the cleavage of the tert-butyl groups on the polymer chains. The obtained gradient copolymers were hydrolyzed with methanesulfonic acid to obtain the intended amphiphilic polymer chains. All reactions proceeded with quantitative conversion. Hence, functional amphiphilic copolymers were obtained.

Daten bilden im Informationszeitalter die Grundlage unternehmerischen, gesellschaftlichen und individuellen Handelns und werden häufig auch als ein immaterielles (Wirtschafts-)Gut verstanden. Die globale Datenmenge wächst dabei exponentiell und verdoppelt sich laut Schätzungen ca. alle zwei Jahre. Gleichzeitig mit diesem rasanten Datenwachstum und resultierend aus den technologischen Fortschritten verändert sich auch die zur Darstellung und Speicherung von digitalen Daten notwendige Hard- und Software. Dies führt zu der Situation, dass Daten in großen Mengen beinahe beiläufig erzeugt werden, wogegen deren langfristige Nutzbarkeit und Erhaltung jedoch aktiv sichergestellt werden muss. Während diese Problematik bereits seit geraumer Zeit auf der Forschungsagenda der Bibliothekswissenschaftler und Archivare steht, dringt sie in zunehmendem Maße auch in den Kontext der Wirtschaftsinformatik und in den Fokus von Unternehmen vor, welche sich mit verschärften Compliance-Anforderungen, Aufbewahrungsanforderungen und Rechtsstreitigkeiten konfrontiert sehen, wodurch die langfristige Verfügbarkeit von digitalen Informationen erforderlich wird. Aber nicht nur Unternehmen sind mit den Herausforderungen konfrontiert, die mit dem langfristigen Erhalt digitaler Informationen verbunden sind. Auch im privaten Bereich stellt sich die Frage, wie Endanwender den Zugriff auf ihre persönlichen und für sie zum Teil unersetzlichen Daten wie Fotos oder Dokumente langfristig sicherstellen können. Die vorliegende Dissertation soll einen Erkenntnisbeitrag zum skizzierten Spannungsfeld und den Herausforderungen der Archivierung im Informationszeitalter leisten. Dazu werden Fragestellungen sowohl aus der Perspektive von Unternehmen als auch aus derjenigen von privaten Endanwendern und Cloud-Dienstleistern im Rahmen von einzelnen Forschungsbeiträgen untersucht.

Semantik und Sentiment: Konzepte, Verfahren und Anwendungen von Text-Mining

Diese Arbeit befasst sich mit zwei Themenbereichen des Data Mining beziehungsweise Text Mining, den zugehörigen algorithmischen Verfahren sowie Konzepten und untersucht mögliche Anwendungsszenarien. Auf der einen Seite wird das Gebiet der semantischen Ähnlichkeit besprochen. Kurz, der Frage, wie algorithmisch bestimmt werden kann, wie viel zwei Begriffe oder Konzepte miteinander zu tun haben. Die Technologie um das Wissen, dass etwa "Regen" ein Bestandteil von "Wetter" sein kann, ermöglicht verschiedenste Anwendungen. In dieser Arbeit wird ein Überblick über gängige Literatur gegeben, das Forschungsgebiet wird grob in die zwei Schulen der wissensbasierten und statistischen Methoden aufgeteilt und in jeder wird ein Beitrag durch Untersuchung vorhandener und Vorstellung eigener Ähnlichkeitsmaße geleistet. Eine Studie mit Probanden und ein daraus entstandener Datensatz liefert schließlich Einblicke in die Präferenzen von Menschen bezüglich ihrer Ähnlichkeitswahrnehmung. Auf der anderen Seite steht das Gebiet des Sentiment Mining, in dem versucht wird, algorithmisch aus großen Sammlungen unstrukturierten Texts, etwa Nachrichten von Twitter oder anderen sozialen Netzwerken, Stimmungen und Meinungen zu identifizieren und zu klassifizieren. Nach einer Besprechung zugehöriger Literatur wird der Aufbau eines neuen Testdatensatzes motiviert und die Ergebnisse der Gewinnung dieses beschrieben. Auf dieser neuen Grundlage erfolgt eine ausführliche Auswertung einer Vielzahl von Vorgehensweisen und Klassifikationsmethoden. Schließlich wird die praktische Nutzbarkeit der Ergebnisse anhand verschiedener Anwendungsszenarien bei Produkt-Präsentationen sowie Medien- oder Volksereignissen wie der Bundestagswahl nachgewiesen.

Early Growth and Survival of Shumard Oak and Nuttall Oak Planting Stocks

Hurricane Katrina damaged 1.4 million hectares of forestland in Mississippi. Hardwood timber accounted for 40 percent of the damage. A cost-effective method of artificial regeneration is necessary to restore this resource. Bareroot, containerized, and EKOgrown® seedlings of Quercus shumardii and Quercus nuttallii were planted on two sites for evaluation of survival and growth. Survival was recorded monthly during the first growing season, and at the end of each growing season. Growth was measured at the end of each growing season. Survival was extremely low in 2014. Containerized seedlings suffered a total loss due to freezing at the nursery, and a large flood occurred on one site. After the two growing seasons monitored in this study, bareroot seedlings provided similar or greater growth, greater survival, and were remarkably cheaper than EKOgrown® seedlings. Consequently, bareroot seedlings are recommended as the most cost-effective method of artificial oak reforestation.
