本論文內容要旨如后：
第一章 導論：包括前言、有關研究文獻和研究目的。研究目的大要如下：（１）
探討民眾獲悉「美國與中共建交」消息的最初來源、初步擴散情形、所反
應的傳播行為，如與其他相關因素之間的關聯性分析。（２）分析報紙媒
介的內容變異情形，並探討其負荷的功能。
第二章 研究設計（一）－－民眾反應之「電話訪問」：包括抽樣、問卷設計、資
料搜集和資料處理。
第三章 研究設計（二）－－報紙內容之「內容分析」：包括分析對象、測量的單
位、測量的類目和資料處理。
第四章 資料分析：包括民眾反應分析和報紙內容之分析。
第五章 結論：包括本研究主要發現、討論及建議。
