A tradução de suas principais obras, Le Nuove Musiche (1601) e Nuove Musiche e Nuova Maniera di scriverle (1614), o estudo prático do canto e a observação cuidadosa de uma de suas árias fundamentam este trabalho sobre uma época em que imperava a todo artista de corte a habilidade em ser original. Giulio Caccini o fez encontrando em seu ofício de cantor e compositor as maneiras de viver coletivamente e eternizar seu legado pessoal. Chegar às reflexões imersas nas características da arte renascentista, sempre partindo do canto e do texto de origem, deixando-o ressoar, ou "recitar cantando", é o desejo maior deste estudo. Em 3 capítulos, 1. Elogio ao Canto, 2. Aspectos gerais sobre a música no Renascimento e 3. A Camerata Fiorentina, o artista de corte e a paideia, o trabalho aproxima a literatura especializada da musicologia, história e sociologia, integrando conhecimentos dispersos em prol de um melhor entendimento das publicações de Giulio Caccini. A fonte principal são os próprios textos e músicas do autor, colocados em diálogo com a experiência prática de seguir suas lições de canto e a contextualização das condições de seu surgimento. Encerram a pesquisa um apêndice de personalidades relacionadas ao autor e seu tempo, um breve glossário de termos referentes à música do período e, em anexo, as edições em fac-símile das referidas publicações e uma seleção em CDs de amostras musicais da obra de Giulio Caccini disponíveis no mercado. / Abstract: Giulio Caccini (1561-1618) and his New Music are the central subject of this research. The translation of his most important works, Le Nuove Musiche (1601) and Nuove Musiche e Nuova Maniera di scriverle (1614), the chant practical study and the carefully observation of one of his arias are the basis of this work about an age in which the skill of being original was a real high demand for every court artist. Giulio Cacini has done it finding in his job as a singer and composer, the manners of living collectively and leaving his personal legate to eternity. Get into the reflexions of the Renaissance art characteristics, always starting from the chant and original texts, trying to let them reverberate, or in armonia favellare, is the biggest desire of this study. To benefit from a better understanding of Giulio Caccini's publications, the work connect the specialized musicology literature, history and sociology in 3 chapters, in order to integrate the knowledge that uses to be separated: 1. A Praise of Chant, 2. General aspects of the music in Renaissance and 3. The Florentine Camerata, the court artist and the paideia. The author's texts and music are the principal sources, supported by the practical experience following his chant lessons and the context of the treatise's arise conditions. La signification de l’œuvre de Juan Ginés de Sepúlveda, philosophe et historien espagnol du XVIè siècle ne fait aujourd’hui l’objet d’aucun consensus : s’agit-il d’un scolastique attardé au siècle de la Renaissance, d’un précurseur du catholicisme post tridentin, d’un crypto-luthérien, ou de l’un des grands humanistes de son temps ? Quelle est la portée exacte des thèses qu’il formula en 1550-1551 à Valladolid pour défendre la légitimité des guerres espagnoles dans le Nouveau Monde ? Après avoir suivi pas à pas la formation intellectuelle du philosophe, les débats auxquels il prit part (contre Erasme, Luther, ou Las Casas) et analysé son œuvre d’historien, notre recherche fait apparaître l’orientation profondément rationaliste et universaliste de sa démarche. Elle met en lumière l’importance, pour la pensée politique occidentale, de la définition qu’il donne de la barbarie. Dépourvue de toute connotation inégalitaire fondée sur la race ou la religion, cette définition, politique et morale, décrit la barbarie comme résultant d’institutions publiques attentatoires à la loi naturelle. Elle affirme le pouvoir critique de la Raison humaine à l’égard des institutions et des pouvoirs, dans le Nouveau Monde comme dans l’Ancien. / There is currently no consensus as to the significance of the work of sixteenth-century Spanish philosopher and historian Juan Ginés de Sepúlveda: was he an anachronistic scholastic in the century of the Renaissance, a precursor of post-Tridentine Catholicism, a crypto-Lutheran, or one of the great humanists of his time? What is the actual import of the arguments he put forward in Valladolid in 1550–1551 in defending the legitimacy of Spain's conquests in the New World? Founded on step-by-step examination of his intellectual training and the debateshe took part in (against Erasmus, Luther and Las Casas), and on close study of his work as a historian, my research reveals the deeply rationalist and universalist tendency of his approach and sheds fresh light on the importance, for Western political thinking, of his definition of barbarism. Devoid of all inegalitarian connotations based on race and religion, this political and moral definition describes barbarism as produced by public institutions detrimental to naturallaw, and asserts the critical power of human Reason with respect to institutions and constituted authority in the New World as in the Old.

An Analysis Of Turkish Sign Language (tid) Phonology And Morphology

This thesis examines the phonology and morphology of Turkish Sign Language (TiD). TiD, being considered a full-fledged language, has a rich phonological and morphological system, as other sign and spoken languages do. For the purpose of this thesis / empirical data have been collected by means of a corpus study and various data elicitation tasks. As a main result of my study of TiD phonology, I propose a complete inventory of handshapes as well as a set of unmarked handshapes which are unique to TiD. I discuss the interaction between TiD finger-spelling and TiD phonology showing that well-formedness conditions constrain the use of finger-spelled letters in lexical signs I also discuss psycholinguistic evidence that sign languages have phonological systems, among them phonological effects on working memory and slips of the hand In the domain of TiD morphology, I investigate the three main morphological processes: inflection, derivation and compounding. Verb classification, plural properties, compounding, and reciprocals in TiD are investigated in detail. I argue that some TiD reciprocals use &ldquo / reciprocal neutral signing space&rdquo / whereby agreement becomes neutralized. TiD makes wide use of classifier constructions as for plural marking and for expressing movements of various human and non-human agents. The thesis indicates that TiD has its own grammar, including rich and diverse systems of phonology, morphology, and classification. Thus, TiD may have had a long historical development. The comparison between TiD and other sign languages shows that TiD has exclusive linguistic properties. The comparison of TiD as a visual-gestural system and Turkish as an auditory-vocal system helps to better understand the impact of modality on language phonology and morphology.
