The identification and assessment of children with atypical development constitute a very important process to support the strategies of education aimed at promoting the potential of learning. The interest regarding the prognosis of children with disability has been stimulating the development of new technologies and researches with regard to assessment, prevention and intervention. In this context, it is important to check with appropriate instruments indicators linguistic, cognitive and behavioral, in order to delineate goals from what they can learn. This way, this study aims to verify whether computerized dynamic assessment is a modality of diagnosis more prescribing of the cognitive development than the traditional tests in the application on children with disability. In assisted mode should help the examiner to conduct the child to a better level of cognitive performance. Participated in this study 10 children who attend an institution of clinical care, in health, for children with disabilities in the Grande Vitória. In traditional tests were used the Columbia Mental Maturity Scale Computed (CMMScomp) and the Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test (PPVTcomp) with computerized system. Were applied three assessment assisted towards the skills of classification and analogical reasoning: Object Exclusion, Exclusion of geometric figures and Game Analogy of Figures, in the computerized software SINDAPSI. We also used the protocols of record affective-motivational factors and cognitive operations made during the task. In assessing the behavior, the Child Behavior Checklist - CBCL was completed by mothers. The documental data and instruments were subjected to descriptive statistical analysis, to verify the performance of the children in the two methods of assessment (psychometric and dynamic). In the psychometrics tests 64% of the children scored “below average” in PPVTcomp, and 55% “below average” in Colúmbiacomp. With regard to the cognitive performance in the Exclusion of Evidence Objects 55% of the children were assessed as “non maintainer”, in the Exclusion of Evidence in Geometric Figures computed 55% as “high-score” and in the Game Analogies of Figures 45% like “winner”. The sample showed levels of difficulty in the realization of the tests such in the psychometric modality as in the dynamic assessment. However, the performance in the dynamic tests was relatively better attended, showing that the group has benefited from the mediation, implemented in the phase of assistance, to improve cognitive skills. Furthermore, the computerized presentation of the tests offered a tool for motivating performance and persistence in tasks.

Momentos magnéticos de estados nucleares do \'ANTPOT.159 Tb\'. / Magnetic moments of nuclear states of 159Tb.

Medina, Nilberto Heder 09 October 1992 (has links)
Magnetic moments of the levels in the ground state rotational band of 159Tb were measured using the transient magnetic field perturbed angular distribution technique. The levels in 159Tb were populated by Coulomb excitation with an 88 MeV beam and the deexciting rays were observed in coincidence with backscattered projectiles. The magnetic moments measured in this work were compared with hybrid models (rotor+particle and triaxial rotor+quasiparticle) in which the Hamiltonian of the nucleus is separated in a phenomenological part describing the core and a rnicroscopic part which takes into acconnt the movement of the unpaired particle. The experimental results were also interpreted with a purely microscopic calculation based on the angular momentum projection shell model. The energy levels in the ground state band are well described by the models, although the energy staggering predicted in the triaxial rotor+quasi-particle calculation has a phase opposite to the observed one. The experimental magnetic moments are well reproduced by the models, with the band miring suggesting a slight oscillation as observed in the experimental data. The magnetic transition probabilities B(M1) are not well described by the models, in which the band mixing attenuates the calculated values.

Pojištění cestovních kanceláří na českém pojistném trhu / Insurance of travel agencies on the Czech insurance market

Budilová, Michala January 2012 (has links)
This diploma thesis focuses on insurance against failure of travel agencies, more precisely on the problems aroused on the Czech insurance market. The main problem is a gap in the law 159/1999 Coll., which should be amended in the future. However, this thesis should highlight these problems, assess them and find a sufficient solution to them, or eventually, find someone responsible for this situation. Shortcomings are investigated from several perspectives - from the point of view of the travel agencies, insurance companies, Ministry of Regional Development as well as from the point of view of the clients of these travel agencies.

State Formation and Ethnic Identity in the Late-Seleucid Levant (200–63 BCE)

Ish-Shalom, Tal A. January 2023 (has links)
This dissertation provides a model for understanding the relation between shifting imperial and post-imperial geopolitics and cultural change in diverse local communities. Specifically, I offer a new perspective on the debate in ancient history regarding “Hellenization,” i.e., the adoption and adaptation of Greek cultural idioms by non-Greek communities. Despite recent advances in emphasizing local communities’ agency in the “Hellenization” process, scholars tend to maintain a rigid dichotomy of monolithic “Greek” vs. “local” culture, and do not offer a comprehensive model accounting for variations in changes, and continuity, by region or time. I propose such a model for the late- and post-Seleucid Levant, and offer significant insights into Hellenistic, Phoenician and Jewish history. I argue that following the Seleucid conquest in the early second century BCE, diverse local communities began competing against each other for imperial favor by often resorting to a form of particularistic ethnic discourse, which emphasized claims to ancestral, pre-Hellenistic identities. In a paradoxical process, however, competing communities often adopted Greek cultural idioms to support these particularistic claims. While it is shown how the specific Greek cultural idioms adapted, varied according to sub-region and period, leadership, and geopolitical situation, it is argued that the idiosyncratic competitive dynamic, fostered by Seleucid power, incentivizing both particularistic discourse and the adoption of new Greek cultural idioms, proved pivotal in allowing diverse communities to develop a Greek cultural “infrastructure.” The political-cultural analysis allows us to broaden and nuance our understanding of subsequent Seleucid disintegration. By better integrating the literary and epigraphical sources with a fresh approach to the numismatic evidence (including the study of some unpublished collections) and taking into account the dramatic archaeological advances of the past two decades, I propose a new model for Seleucid decline. The “concessionist” dynamic outlined by recent scholarship, according to which local elites exploited Seleucid dynastic rivalries to extract privileges, needs to be qualified. While describing well the situation in some communities, such as Hasmonaean Judaea, it is not adequate for cities on the Phoenician coast. Rather, I propose an alternative “loyalist-secessionist” model, stressing the greater importance of external actors, especially the underappreciated role of the Ptolemies and a new understanding of Rome’s indirect involvement. The cultural implications for this novel political-historical model come to the fore following a watershed in Seleucid political history, the death of King Antiochus VII in 129 BCE. In an anarchic late-Hellenistic world, smaller cities, such as Tyre and Sidon, upon becoming independent, sought new alliances by re-utilizing their Greek cultural “infrastructure” towards greater institutional and cultic homology with Greek peer polities. In the absence of Seleucid pressure towards particularism, by contrast, traditional elements were rendered obsolete or even counterproductive to these new efforts. Thus, only at this stage of independence from Hellenistic empire non-Greek cultural elements atrophied, explaining the loss of Phoenician language in this period and the decline in sites of native cult. In other words, it was not a long, linear process of “Hellenization” but concrete, largely contingent, historical factors that explain this development in the specific time and place. In the neighboring Hasmonaean kingdom, by contrast, a series of contingent events (e.g., the “Judaization” of the Idumaeans) created a power-multiplier that put the kingdom onto a different trajectory. Prioritizing imperialistic ambitions, and shifting their own Greek “infrastructure” accordingly, they were not incentivized to similarly abandon traditional language and cult. Rather, by adopting a new ethos of a Hellenistic court, the kingdom facilitated the coalescing of newly-Judaized elites around the Hasmonaean dynasty and Jerusalem, fostering a metrocentric imperialistic outlook which paradoxically complemented and cemented rather than replaced the Yahwistic cult and a sense of Jewish particularism. This, I argue, is a key, hitherto overlooked, factor in the continuity of particularistic Jewish identity, which may help historicize and elucidate the seeming Jewish “exceptionalism” in the region. Put differently, the observed cultural divergence between Levantine communities, clearly apparent by the Roman period, can, in fact, be traced to, and elucidated by a specific historical moment, the common experiences of Seleucid imperial domination and the contingent effects of it collapse in the course of the 2nd century BCE.

An assessment of metabolic bone disease in the skeletal remains of Chinese indentured mine labourers from the Witwatersrand

Meyer, Anja January 2014 (has links)
An essential part of bioarchaeology is the study of diet and nutrition and its effects on the general health of a person. Interpretation of nutritional and metabolic disease related pathologies often provide additional insight into the daily social and cultural practices of people. It is therefore also an essential part of understanding differences amongst past populations from archaeological contexts and provides an alternative means for cross referencing historical accounts. In this study the skeletal remains of 36 Chinese indentured mine labourers, who worked and died on the Witwatersrand mines during the period AD 1904-1910, were assessed for any signs of metabolic or nutritionally related signs of disease. Historical information suggests that these indentured Chinese labourers came from poverty stricken communities in China where disease and malnutrition were often encountered. Once in South Africa they were again subjected to the harsh living and working conditions associated with mining. Analyses suggest that all 36 individuals were males between the ages of 16 and 45 years, with the majority being of young adult age (20-34 years). Pathology that could be observed included a high prevalence of nutrition-related changes and linear enamel hypoplasia which suggests that the Chinese miners had been subjected to long periods of malnutrition and illness throughout childhood continuing into adulthood. Nevertheless, a large proportion of lesions associated with malnutrition showed some degree of healing. A high frequency of traumatic lesions, specifically peri-mortem fractures, was observed and may have contributed to the death of many of the Chinese miners. It therefore seems that even though the healing of pathological lesions associated with malnutrition indicated a period of improved nutritional intake, possibly during their time on the Witwatersrand mines, the high prevalence of peri-mortem fractures attests to the hazardous working conditions associated with deep-level mining. In order to aid in the interpretation of skeletal pathology associated with metabolic and nutritional diseases non-specific signs of disease observed in a cadaver skeletal sample with known causes of death (related to specific metabolic or nutritional diseases) were compared to pathology observed in the Chinese miners. This provided pathological patterns which enabled a better interpretation of the pathology observed in the Chinese skeletal remains. / Dissertation (MSc)--University of Pretoria, 2014. / am2014 / Anatomy / unrestricted

A ira na Hecyra de TerÃncio

Stefanie Cavalcanti De Lima Silva 00 December 2018 (has links)
The present work proposes to investigate anger in Hecyra (160 BC), play by Terence (185- 159 BC), through a Stoic reading. The delimitation of analysis corpus stems from a significant recurrence of a lexical field linked to the anger notion (ira, iniuria, iniquitas) in the play, especially in episodes that involve the senes Laques and Fidipo. Judging the possibility to examine the presence of anger in Hecyra by a Stoic prism, our aim is to analyze the play in light of Theory of the Passions. To reach this goal, we elaborate a bibliographical research and then study philosophical texts that discuss the Theory of the Passions, mainly in the light of stoicism, then apply the results obtained to our research hypothesis and make a more reasoned analysis of Terenceâs text. To develop this research, we use as theoretical foundation, especially philosophical works, that discuss the Theory of Passions, especially Anger, such as Rhetorica and Ethica Nicomachea, by Aristotle, Tusculanae disputationes, by Cicero, and De ira by Seneca. In addition to ancient texts, we also use modern studies concerning the theory of passions, such as Martha C. Nussbaum and Margareth Graver. In the Introduction section, we comment on the relationship between theater and philosophy and how this relationship was given since Menander, we contextualize Terence and his work, discuss his theater relationship with philosophy, and his presence in the Scipionic Circle; in the following chapter, we present the theory of passions, the conception of anger in both peripatetic and stoic schools; in the third chapter, we analyze the presence of a lexicon linked to the notion of anger in Hecyra in the light of Stoicism. We hope, at the end of this investigation, to discover a little more on the dialogue of literature with philosophy and theater by Terence, in particular Hecyra. .
