Iñigo Valderrama, Isidora January 2013 (has links)

For this purpose, is to establish relations between the creation of the School, the profile of his "students" and the purpose of their travels, specifically the Course of War. The paper identifies that the teachings of ESG positions were characterized by undemocratic, anti-communist and favorable the deployment in the country a model of dependent capitalist development. Indicates that the ESG was an institution for training of "elites organic", positioned between the layers of great social networking power and political mobilization, promoting the politicization of the Armed Forces unwilling to control the direction of the Brazilian state.

Ultima Ratio : Svensk säkerhets och utrikespolitisk debatt angående en möjlig Nordisk Försvarsunion samt NATO under åren 1948-1949 / Ultima Ratio : Swedish defence and foreign policy debate concerning the possibility of a Nordic Defence Alliance and NATO during 1948-1949

Lund, Simon January 2015 (has links)
The debate in progress in 2015 in Sweden is very much about whether Swedish neutrality shall be retained or replaced by a NATO membership. In 1948-49 there was a similar debate at the highest level in Sweden, whether the country should join in a Nordic alliance with Norway and Denmark, or whether they would join the western Atlantic Alliance. The study analyses the debate of the topic in parliament by a given school analysis via political actors representing all parliamentary parties. The parliamentary parties at the time, the Social Democrats, the Agrarian Party, the parliamentary Conservatives, the Liberal Party and the Swedish Communist Party. The Schools were divided by 1948 and 1949, and have but a slight difference. In 1948 there was three schools of thought where the first one was pro-Soviet Union and neutrality, one that was pro US West and for Nordic alliance, but against NATO and the last one was against the Soviet Union, the Nordic alliance and for a discussion concerning NATO. The difference in 1949 was that one school of thought came about as clearly argued for NATO. Events like the Berlin blockade and the Prague coup influenced public opinion and thus the Parliament. The debate in parliament was relatively abundant but with clear dividing lines of which the Social Democrats held the majority and chose the Swedish neutrality when the negotiations with Norway, Denmark fell through.

HARMONY AND TONALITY IN THE FOUR WORKS FOR MIXED WIND INSTRUMENTS OF RICHARD STRAUSS (GERMANY).

BAILEY, SHAD CULVERWELL. January 1986 (has links)
Richard Strauss was only nineteen when he wrote the Serenade and soon the Suite was among his list of compositions. Not until he was nearing the end of his life did he again turn his attention to wind music with the Sonatine and the Symphonie. This paper provides a comparison of sonorities, root movement and representative harmonic progressions, cadences, harmonic rhythm, treatment of dissonances, keys employed, and modulation types in the four works. Its purpose is to determine how works from the years between the Suite and Sonatine may have affected the above parameters in the Sonatine and Symphonie. Included in the intervening years are such works as Elektra, Salome, and others during which time Strauss was most innovative in his use of sonorities, dissonances, and harmonic progressions. This study proves that in later compositions for wind instruments, Strauss did not continue the advances he had made earlier; rather he looked back to the language of the Serenade and Suite. The importance of major and minor triads, and the major-minor seventh remained in the Sonatine and Symphonie; beat duration totals for these three sonorities for the Serenade and Symphonie shows a less than one percent difference between the two works. Although there is less emphasis placed on ascending perfect fourth root movement in the Symphonie than in the other works, it still retains nearly one-fourth the total number. Authentic cadences have a higher percentage in the later Sonatine and Symphonie than in either of the two earlier compositions. Dissonance treatment favors conservative means; passing tones, neighbor tones, leap up-step down and leap down-step up appoggiaturas, suspensions and retardations are most common regardless of time-frame. Regarding modulations: although the widest variety is found in the Symphonie, emphasis is on diatonic and chromatic pivot chords, third relation, and enharmonic diminished seventh chords. One must conclude from the study that conservatism is the hallmark in each of the four compositions.

Les heroines du théâtre de Maurice Maeterlinck.

Dick, Helen. January 1952 (has links)
