Architecture is a wonderful world. As a student of architecture, time and time again I am inpressed by its powerful imagines. The more I study and learn, however, the more I question. What is the truth beyond those fantastic imagines? What is the nuture of Architecture? Is there any basic way or process to approach the work of Architecture? With these questions, I begin my thesis project and the process of looking for answers. / Master of Architecture

Architecture is explored as an interplay between nature and a composition of forms. This thesis involves a project, an architecture school for Duke University, and examines the idea of composition as a type of â structured play.â Structured play is used as a method to study reciprocal relationships in architecture. This exploration focuses on the relationship between inside and outside in order to create a place for education which unites nature with the man-made. / Master of Architecture

The historical, vernacular, residential forms and processes of urban Japan are to be explored as a potential source of power with regards to the concept of developmental vernacular architecture. This theory is a relatively new and vaguely defined approach to a combined method of conservation and progressive growth; balanced elements of a "smart growth" strategy. Therefore, a clarification of the term, along with an initial analysis of the definitions and values of vernacular architectures, is needed. Secondly, The Japanese machiya type will be explored as a unique vernacular form, indicating its diversity over time and similarity over distance. The essential controls and stimulus of its formal evolution and common characteristics will be examined. Machiya, a Japanese term, translates roughly to townhouse, in English. It is typically a city dwelling which also includes a small shop or metting space that fronts the street. This is the typical dwelling of the urban merchant class. The long of history of its development and its many transformations will be discussed. These analyses ultimately lead to the design exercise which investigates the machiya type as an intelligent base for a developmental vernacular process within the context of the Japanese urban environment. Therefore, the conclusion is to present, or to infer, the merits of incorporating such a program into a wider extent of the current built environment; poor and affluent, urban and rural. / Master of Architecture

La presente investigación analiza el proceso político de la Mesa de Diálogo de la OEA del año 2000 en el Perú. Este espacio fue una experiencia exitosa, aunque singular y difícilmente repetible, de impulso a la transición política del gobierno de Alberto Fujimori al gobierno de transición de Valentín Paniagua y de desmantelamiento del soporte jurídico fujimorista que afectaba la accountability horizontal en el país. Dicho éxito se debió a cuatro factores: 1) El déficit de legitimidad interna y externa del tercer gobierno de Alberto Fujimori; 2) el reconocimiento internacional de la Mesa de Diálogo como el espacio para llevar adelante la transición política y la democratización; 3) la unión y fortalecimiento de la oposición, y 4) la división y debilitamiento del oficialismo parlamentario. A lo largo de la tesis se analizan detalladamente estas cuatro variables. El satisfactorio desempeño de la Mesa de Diálogo nos muestra la importancia de articular la defensa de la democracia dentro y fuera de las fronteras, en el entendido que la actuación internacional no se agota en un conjunto de advertencias hacia el gobierno que ataca las instituciones democráticas, sino que también debe ampliarse al apoyo de los grupos internos que realizan acciones para cesar estas afectaciones. En el caso peruano, ello se plasmó en la construcción de una agenda común de la OEA y de los grupos de oposición y de la sociedad civil peruana respecto de la democratización de las instituciones políticas afectadas por el régimen fujimorista, agenda que fue la hoja de ruta de la Mesa de Diálogo. / Tesis

Search the library catalog for the location and call number. / American composer Alan Hovhaness (1911-2000) published twelve operatic works during his career. Eight of these staged productions were written between the years 1959 and 1969. During these ten years Hovhaness immersed himself in the music and theatre of Japan. The composer traveled to Japan twice, once in 1960 and again in 1962, where he frequently attended Noh plays. As composer-in-residence at the University of Hawaii in 1961, Hovhaness took private lessons on and composed freely for the instruments of Gagaku, the ancient court music of Japan. My study investigates the degree to which Hovhaness was exposed to Gagaku and Noh, and what elements of these Japanese alts the composer manifests in his staged works between 1959 and 1969. I compare Hovhaness' treatment of Japanese elements to that ofother twentieth-century Western composers interested in East Asian music. Finally to look for understand the daily of the fisherman who confrot with alterations of knowledge and at the environment provoked by the facts. / O presente trabalho trata da condição dos pescadores artesanais na contemporaneidade, das reapropriações de saberes decorrentes do confronto entre as modalidades de pesca artesanal e industrial. As reflexões seguem em torno da historicização da implantação da pesca industrial no Brasil a partir da pesca da lagosta a partir da década de 1950, destacando um conflito internacional entre o Brasil e a França na década de 1960 e a relação do pescador artesanal com esses acontecimentos. Por fim procura-se entender o cotidiano dos pescadores que se defrontam com alterações de saberes e no meio ambiente provocadas pelos fatos narrados.

In this thesis I'm focusing on current world trends in the field of quality management in industrial production and services. Further I'm applying introduction of ISO standards in a concrete building company and I'm evaluating its efficiency. The thesis also offers a "manual" for introduction of ISO standards.

ITC/USA 2015 Conference Proceedings / The Fifty-First Annual International Telemetering Conference and Technical Exhibition / October 26-29, 2015 / Bally's Hotel & Convention Center, Las Vegas, NV / In this paper, we develop a miniaturized real time video compression module (VCM) based on embedded motion JPEG 2000 using ADV212 and FPGA. We consider layout of components, values of damping resistors, and lengths of the pattern lines for optimal hardware design. For software design, we consider compression steps to monitor the status of the system and make the system robust. The weight of the developed VCM is approximately 4 times lighter than the previous development. Furthermore, experimental results show that the PSNR is increased about 3dB and the compression processing time is approximately 2 times faster than the previous development.

The aim of this thesis was to analyze the legal regulation of the creation and protection of the Natura 2000 network from the perspective of international environmental law, the EU law and the Czech law. The thesis is divided into five major chapters. The first chapter explains the concept of Natura 2000 and what are the purposes pursued by the system. The second chapter covers the area of legal regulation in the area of nature protection from the perspective of international law and its relationship to Natura 2000. Next chapter deals with the regulation of the Natura 2000 from the perspective of EU law. The fourth chapter focuses on mapping the decision- making of the Court of Justice of the European Union concerning the Natura 2000 network. The fifth part describes legal regulation of Natura 2000 network from the perspective of the Czech legal order.
