Three species and two subspecies are synonymized: Rhopalurus amazonicus with R. laticauda, R. crassicauda with R. laticauda, R. acromelas with R. agamemnom, R. crassicauda paruensis with R. laticauda,R. pintoi kouruensis with R. pintoi. The genus present now seven valid species for South America. New data on distribution range and an identification key are presented. A comparative analysis of the morphology of male hemiespermatophore of 21 genera of the family Buthidae of Central and South America, Europe, Africa and Asia. Estudo metalômico do mercúrio em leite materno coletado da população ribeirinha da área de influência do Ahe Jirau-bacia do rio Madeira /

Para isso, inicialmente, foi obtido o proteoma das amostras de leite por eletroforese bidimensional (2D PAGE) após precipitação das proteínas em meio acetônico. Nos spots proteicos obtidos no processo de fracionamento das proteínas, nas amostras de cabelo e de leite das lactantes foram feitas determinações de mercúrio por espectrometria de absorção atômica de vapor frio (CVAAS) e espectrofotometria de fluorescência atômica de vapor frio (CVAFS). As determinações por CVAFS indicaram a presença de mercúrio em dois spots proteicos (spot 1, spot 2), os quais foram caracterizados por espectrometria de massas em sequência com ionização por electrospray (ESI MS MS) e por meio de busca no banco de dados Uniprot. A análise por ESI MS MS identificaram o spot 1 como sendo a proteína b caseína (pI = 5,52 e MM = 26,01 kDa) e o spot 2 como sendo a proteína Lisozima C (pI = 9,30 e MM = 16,50 kDa). Os resultados obtidos nas determinações de mercúrio nos spots 1 e 2 permitiram estabelecer relação estequiométrica de um átomo de mercúrio por quatro moléculas de b caseína e de um átomo de mercúrio por molécula de lisozima C. Com base nos dados obtidos é possível inferir, no caso da b caseína, que a ligação do mercúrio não é específica, tratando-se de uma proteína metal-binding, não configurando o mercúrio como um cofator metálico, o que não desqualifica a b caseína como possível biomarcadora de mercúrio. Em relação a Lisozima C, a presença de metionina (base mole) na sequência peptídica pode estabelecer ligações com íons metálicos com características de ácido mole, como o Hg2+, configurando uma ligação mais estável desse íon com grupos sulfidrilas da Lisozima C e, caracterizando essa proteína como possível biomarcador de ... / Abstract: In this study, we aimed to identify proteins responsible for the mercury transport in breast milk samples collected from the lactating of Madeira River region, Rondônia - Brazil. For this, we first obtained the proteome of milk samples by two-dimensional electrophoresis (2D PAGE) after proteins precipitation in acetone medium. In the protein spots obtained from proteins fractionation, in hair and milk samples of lactating mercury determinations were carried out by cold vapor atomic absorption spectrometry (CVAAS) and by cold vapor atomic fluorescence spectrophotometry (CVAFS). CVAFS determinations indicated the presence of mercury in two protein spots (spot 1, spot 2), which were characterized by electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry (ESI MS MS) and by searching in the Uniprot database. The ESI MS MS analysis identified the spot 1 as the b casein protein (pI = 5.52 and MM = 26.01 kDa) and spot 2 as the lysozyme C protein (pI = 9.30 and MW = 16, 50 kDa). The results obtained in the mercury determinations in the spots 1 and 2 allowed to establish a stoichiometric ratio of one mercury atom per four molecules of b casein and one mercury atom per of lysozyme C molecule. Based on the obtained data it can be inferred, in the case of b casein, that mercury binding is not specific, treating yourself of a metal-binding protein, not configuring the mercury as a metal cofactor what does not disqualify the b casein as a possible mercury biomarker. Regarding lysozyme C, the presence of methionine (soft base) in the peptide sequence can establish links with metal ions with features of soft acid, such as Hg2+, configuring a stable binding of this metal ion with sulfhydryl groups of lysozyme C and, characterizing this protein as a possible mercury biomarker / Doutor

Desde 1980, foram identificados como importantes agente de infecções hospitalares. As espécies E. faecalis e E. faecium são agentes de diversas infecções, como bacteriemia, sepse, endocardite, infecção do trato urinário, infecções de feridas e meningite. A resistência adquirida, mais predominantemente a penicilina/ampicilina, aminoglicosídeos (alto nível de resistência) e glicopeptídeos são relatados em um número crescente de isolados e o espectro terapêutico nestes casos é limitado. A principal preocupação é que os genes que codificam a resistência para todos esses antibióticos poderiam ser transferidos para outros enterococos ou mesmo para muitos outros patógenos virulentos. A resistência adquirida aos glicopeptídeos é mediada por vários mecanismos (tipos VanA/B/D/E/G/L), sendo que os genótipos VanA e VanB são transferíveis. Fatores relacionados com o hospedeiro, com o hospital, procedimentos invasivos, meio ambiente, e o uso de antibióticos podem aumentar o risco de colonização ou infecção com VRE. Este estudo visa investigar a ocorrência destes microrganismos, em pacientes de hospitais de Manaus - Amazonas, identificando a distribuição das espécies e o perfil de resistência aos antimicrobianos e dos genes de resistência a vancomicina envolvidos. Foram analisados 38 isolados de Enterococcus spp. provenientes de pacientes internados ou de atendimento ambulatorial no período de outubro de 2011 a setembro de 2012. Foram confirmados 29 isolados de E. faecalis e 8 de E. faecium por testes bioquímicos convencionais, pela metodologia automatizada e por Reação da Polimerase em Cadeia (PCR). Since 1980, have been identified as a major cause of nosocomial infections. The species E. faecalis and E. faecium are agents of various infections, such as bacteremia, sepsis, endocarditis, urinary tract infections, wound infections and meningitis. Acquired resistance, most predominantly penicillin / ampicillin, aminoglycosides (high-level resistance) and glycopeptides are reported in an increasing number of isolates and therapeutic spectrum in these cases is limited. The main concern is that the genes which encode resistance to these antibiotics could all be transferred to other Enterococci or for many other virulent pathogens. Die Untersuchung umfasst die gesamte Wirkungszeit des Reichskammergerichts von 1495 bis 1806. Die Verfahrensakten sind unter den Aspekten der Rechtsanwendung des "Frankfurter Testamentsrechts", der Besonderheiten von testamentsrechtlichen Prozessen, der Inhalte der zum richterlichen Spruch gestellten Auseinandersetzungen sowie der Beweggründe der streitenden Prozessparteien untersucht worden. / The thesis analyses inheritance disputes, in particular probate action presented to the Reichskammergericht (Imperial Chamber Court) from the jurisdiction of Frankfurt am Main. It examines the entire era of the Reichskammergericht from 1495 until 1806. The court records were reviewed with regard to various aspects in the application of Frankfurt’s probate law, the particularities of probate proceedings, the subject matter to be adjudicated as well as the motives of the litigants.

Suivi de la fonctionnalité des jonctions communicantes par la technique de gap-FRAP sur des modèles in vitro (2-D, 3-D) et ex vivo : Intérêt pour le diagnostic du cancer

Ce travail de recherche s'inscrit dans un axe de diagnostic du cancer via le développement d'une méthode optique pour la caractérisation fonctionnelle de tissus. La technique de gap- FRAP (Fluorescence Recovery After Photobleaching) permet l'étude quantitative de la fonctionnalité des jonctions gap. La majorité des cellules néoplasiques se caractérisent par une modification du niveau d'expression et/ou de la fonctionnalité des jonctions gap par comparaison à leurs homologues saines. La technique de gap-FRAP permet en conséquence de discriminer les cellules cancéreuses en fonction de la communication intercellulaire gap jonctionnelle (CIGJ). Particulièrement utilisée in vitro, cette technique restait cependant anecdotique ex vivo. Nous avons validé la faisabilité du transfert de cette méthode sur tissus et organes ex vivo. A partir de cellules de statuts différents en expression et en distribution des connexines, nous avons caractérisé la calcéine-AM comme étant une sonde fluorescente adaptée pour des mesures sur tissus. Puis nous avons développé un modèle d'ingénierie systéme pour l'analyse comparative des données de recouvrement de fluorescence sur des modèles bi et tridimensionnels. Nous avons transposé ces conditions préalablement définies sur organe entier ex vivo : la vessie de rat. Un marquage multiple a été optimisé avec une sonde fluorescente pour le tracking des cellules cancéreuses dans la vessie ex vivo, un marqueur pour l'identification histologique de l'urothélium et la calcéine-AM pour mesurer la CIGJ. Le gap-FRAP a été utilisé pour la première fois pour différencier le degré de communication intercellulaire gap jonctionnelle entre le tissu sain et néoplasique sur un organe entier ex vivo, ouvrant des perspectives pour le diagnostic du cancer de la vessie corrélé à la modification de la CIGJ.

Dans ce manuscrit, nous abordons la problématique des modulations de phase sur les lasers de puissance (comme le Laser MégaJoule, projet développé en France) et de leur impact sur différents phénomènes physiques comme la suppression de la diffusion Brillouin stimulée (nécessaire pour éviter l'endommagement des optiques) et le lissage optique qui permet une homogénéisation spatiale des taches focales. Nous abordons de manière approfondie les contreparties des modulations de phase et en particulier la conversion FM-AM qui est source de modulations d'intensité non désirées et de perte d'énergie. Nous donnons une modélisation qui se veut complète des phénomènes générant de la conversion FM-AM sur une chaîne de laser de puissance. Nous étudions théoriquement et expérimentalement les deux méthodes permettant de réduire la conversion FM-AM à distorsion spectrale donnée : la compensation des fonctions de transfert et la modification du signal de modulation de phase pour le rendre moins sensible aux effets de distorsions spectrales. Concernant la seconde voie d'exploration, nous déterminons quelle devrait être la forme du spectre idéal de la modulation de phase et nous donnons une méthode pour s'en approcher. Nous montrons la faisabilité pratique d'une telle méthode et nous effectuons différentes expériences pour montrer dans quelles mesures ces solutions peuvent améliorer les performances les lasers de puissance. Nous concluons ce manuscrit de thèse, en proposant des solutions optimisées pour le Laser MégaJoule.

Advanced fuels for thermal spectrum reactors

The advanced fuels investigated in this thesis comprise fuels non− conventional in their design/form (TRISO), their composition (high content of plutonium and minor actinides) or their use in a reactor type, in which they have not been used before (e.g. nitride fuel in BWR). These fuels come with a promise of improved characteristics such as safe, high temperature operation, spent fuel transmutation or fuel cycle extension, for which reasons their potentialis worth assessment and investigation. Their possible use also brings about various challenges, out of which some were addressed in this thesis. TRISO particle fuels with their superior retention abilities enable safe, high−temperature operation. Their combination with molten salt in the Advanced High Temperature Reactor (AHTR) concept moreover promises high operating temperature at low pressure, but it requires a careful selection of the cooling salt and the TRISO dimensions to achieve adequate safety characteristic, incl. a negative feedback to voiding. We show that an AHTR cooled with FLiBe may safely operate with both Pu oxide and enriched U oxide fuels. Pu and Minor Actinides (MA) bearing fuels may be used in BWR for transmutation through multirecycling; however, the allowable amounts of Pu and MA are limited due to the degraded feedback to voiding or low reactivity.We showed that the main positive contribution to the void effect in the fuelswith Pu and MA content of around 11 to 15% consist of the decreased thermalcapture probability in Pu-240, Pu-239 and Am-241 and increased fast and resonance fission probability of U-238, Pu239 and Pu-240. The total void worthmoreover increases during multirecycling, limiting the allowable amount ofMA to 2.45% in uranium−based fuels. An alternative, thorium−based fuel allows for 3.45% MA without entering the positive voiding regime at any point of the multirecycling. The increased alpha−heating associated with the use of transmutation fuels, is at level 24−31 W/kgFUEL in the uranium based fuels and 32−37 W/kgFUEL in the thorium−based configurations. The maximum value of the neutron emission, reached in the last cycle, is 1.7·106 n/s/g and 2·106 n/s/g for uranium and for thorium−based fuels, respectively. Replacing the standard UO2 fuel with higher−uranium density UN orUNZrO2 fuels in BWR shows potential for an increase of the in-core fuelresidence time by about 1.4 year. This implies 1.4% higher availability of the plant. With the nitride fuels, the total void worth increases and the efficiency of the control rods and burnable poison deteriorates, but no major neutronics issue has been identified. The use of nitride fuels in the BWR environment is conditioned by their stability in hot steam. Possible methods for stabilizing nitride fuels in water and steam at 300◦ C were suggested in a recent patentapplication. / <p>QC 20121004</p>

Research on the Factors Turning AM Radio to the Digital Future

On 29th February 2000, The Directorate General of Telecommunications, Ministry of Transportation and Communications, announced the result of selection for DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) experimental digital broadcasting. From that moment, many FM Radio Stations initiated their DAB digital broadcasting. Compared with FM Radio, AM Radio is slower on initiating digital broadcasting. However, new technology continuously comes out. The integration of media technology has a great influence on the media broadcasting model. The emergence of new media accelerates the decline of traditional media. Earlier emerging than internet, TV and FM Radio industries, how will AM Radio strive for continuance and development? To encourage existing AM Radio in initiating their digital future, the Ministry of Transportation and Communications announced the project of experimental digital broadcasting of IBOC AM and DRM on June 3rd, 2004. It is worth for the research scholars to study how the AM Radio initiates digital broadcasting and what the influential factors are. Therefore, this research is trying to find the factors which turn AM Radio to the digital future, and also discuss what factors will encourage radio enterprenors to initiate digital broadcasting, what kind of digital system is appropriate for AM Radio, and what the situation is for experimental DRM broadcasting in Taiwan. We are trying to find out the factors turning AM Radio to the digital future, and make AM Radio (with declining listening ratio and poor reception quality) improve the performance, as well as create new core value of AM Radio Industry. According to the objective and motivation above-mentioned, we designed and proceeded this research as follows: We started from an investigation on 28 AM Radio Stations in Taiwan to know their needs for digital broadcasting, and then collected data and made statistic analysis based on the questionnaires returned. We also took interviews with professional people assisting in DRM digital broadcasting for AM Radio. Besides, we participated in the World DAB Forum Conference held in Taiwan in this year, and finally went into a conclusion and some suggestions. We found from the information in questionnaires that the factors making AM Radio to initiate digital broadcasting are not precise. However, we know more about how the digital broadcasting is going among AM Radio Stations, from the information collected by interviewing professional people who assist in DRM digital broadcasting for AM Radio. It will bring advantages in competition for AM Radio Stations to initiate digital broadcasting. Thus, it can not wait to turn to digital future. The Radio enterprenors should use technology well and increase additional value. They have to follow the trend, develop new co-operation model, and establish their brand image. They should also enhance on inspection of program contents, and hold success factors. They can increase reception ratio only with fine broadcasting, excellent program contents, good reception quality and perfect marketing strategy. As to the technical people, they need to care about the development on technology, and provide new information for management to make decision. Besides, the policy of government must be precise, in order to encourage Radio enterprenors in initiating digital broadcasting. The above conclusion could be the reference in digital radio research.
