External powder feed

Rudh, Emil January 2023 (has links)
The purpose of this project was to investigate the possibilities to externally feed powder into a PBF-machine (a EBM-machine, Electron Beam Melting) to increase the effectiveness of the machine. The main goal of the project was to design a way to deliver powder to the building-chamber from an external source. The method used was product development learnt from lessons at the university, literature and some phases were specifically invented to help with development. The method was split up into different phases that helped keep a steady pace during the whole project. Some tests were made to try if the current equipment could be used in the concept. The results show that external powder feed for EBM machines have an opening in the market, meaning that no company has jet discovered a way to externally feed powder. Further results showed the current flaws and positive parts of the current feeding system, but more importantly what areas that could be improved and things to consider when devel-oping the new concept. The tests on the valve showed that it can take “full” vacuum when clean, but more research must be done to choose the perfect valve. The barrel test showed that the barrel could withstand some vacuum and the sealing could remain intact. But more research on the barrel is needed. A target specification was made and some con-cepts were developed. After that a decision was made which concept was moving forward, it was the blue concept. Then some sketches and designs in CAD was made to visualize how the concept looked like. The purpose of the project was achieved and the main goal was met. Further work and development are needed to make this concept ready for prototyping and production. / <p>Betygsdatum 2023-06-28</p>

Electron Beam Melting : En State of the Art Rapport och komparativ studie av additiva tillverkningsmetoder / Electron Beam Melting : A State of the Art Report and comparison of Additive Manufacturing Methods

Sabri Hanna, Etwal January 2021 (has links)
Additive manufacturing (AM) is a manufacturing technology that has been widely used in industries in recent years. Electron beam melting (EBM) is an innovative technology for manufacturing of the orthopedic implant and aerospace industry because EBM offers high productivity and lower cost per part. Compared to traditional manufacturing methods, EBM can produce parts with significant mechanical properties, but there is some common shortcoming that prevent EBM's ability to become a more common processing method in manufacturing. This work, which takes the form of a State of the Art Report, introduces the EBM method at the technical level and compares with other AM methods and conventional manufacturing methods.

Reinterpreting the museum : social inclusion, citizenship and the urban regeneration of Glasgow

Beel, David E. January 2011 (has links)
This thesis considers the contemporary work of the museum in the post-industrial setting of Glasgow. It interprets and understands how the museum as a space gives voice to New Labour’s concepts of social inclusion and citizenship whilst being embroiled in the wider process of urban regeneration and city enhancement. This research has been conducted using a mixed methodology incorporating policy analysis, participant observation and interviews, engaging with policy documentation, museum professionals and museum users in its goal to understand how the museum has been and is positioned within society. In exploring how museums have sought to become more socially inclusive, the research examined four different programmes in detail. These included two outreach projects; one working with adult learners and the other with different religious groups in the city. The research has also followed the contribution of a group of volunteers and finally it has engaged with the on-going processes surrounding the building of the city’s latest museum. The research findings have highlighted a complex and entangled set of power relations in the attempts to articulate social inclusion policy through the museum. This suggests, building upon the work of Foucault, that the museum embraces a soft-disciplinary power in relation to citizens. Specific programmes of the museum service targeting social inclusion reveal the benefits the individual may enjoy through participating in cultural events from which they might otherwise feel excluded. Yet, the reach of such programmes question the extent to which they are able to address social inclusion in the city. Recent developments – the production of the city’s newest museum as part of the riverside regeneration in particular – reveal how the installation of the iconic museum is closely allied to the wider project of urban economic regeneration. The planning of the Riverside Museum, however, has been attentive to the social inclusion agenda, particularly through the questions of access. Finally, the research shows how the city’s dominant growth agenda has resulted in a changing role for curators, shifting their agency away from a more traditional practice in which they were key gatekeepers, coordinating what museums displayed and how they did so, and towards a role that reflects a more scrutinised form of managerial control.

Jüngerschaft und Gemeinde: eine praktisch-theologische Studie uber die Erziehung zur Nachfolge in evangelikal-freikirchlichen Gemeinden im postmodern-urbanen Umfeld (Discipleship and the local church: a practical-theological study of education to discipleship in evangelical free churches in a postmodern urban milieu)

Hoffmann, Thomas 30 November 2005 (has links)
The subject of this study is Christian education in the church. This practical-theological work starts from the premise of the relevance of a commitment experience for the faith development of the individual and studies the formats and contents of continuing formal faith education of young Christians in evangelical free churches in a postmodern-urban milieu in Frankfurt. Its aim is to find out how well the New Testament discipleship topics of Jesus are integrated into the faith education in the church, and what reception difficulties and chances they experience in regard to the Zeitgeist. Are the New Testament discipleship topics still the basic guidelines with regard to content? The relationship between faith development, faith education and the local church is presented within a religion- and church-pedagogical approach and a connection to education for discipleship is made. The biblical premise is the discipleship commission of Jesus (Mt 28:18-20) and its church-pedagogical reply. / Practical Theology / M. Th.(Practical Theology)

TUNABLE FSK/AM SIGNAL DETECTOR ON A 6U-VME CARD

Hordeski, Theodore J.,Jr. 10 1900 (has links)
International Telemetering Conference Proceedings / October 26-29, 1998 / Town & Country Resort Hotel and Convention Center, San Diego, California / The telemetry and aerospace communities require communications equipment providing various modulation and demodulation formats. One format, with application in Space Ground Link Subsystems (SGLS), utilizes a Ternary (tri-tone) Frequency Shift-Keyed (FSK) signal Amplitude Modulated (AM) by a triangle waveform. Historically, SGLS equipment has operated with a fixed tri-tone frequency set (e.g., 65 kHz, 76 kHz and 95 kHz). The need for additional transmission channels and increased bandwidth efficiency creates the requirement for equipment with the flexibility to generate and receive varied and higher frequency tone sets. Combining analog and digital techniques, GDP Space Systems has developed the FDT001. It is an FSK/AM detector which recovers a bit rate clock at one of four selectable bit rates and reproduces ternary FSK modulation data over a widely tunable range of tone frequencies. The tuning range is expanded by using two methods of digital frequency discrimination. The following paper describes the design of the FDT001.

How Additive Manufacturing can Support the Assembly System Design Process

Johansson, Matilda, Sandberg, Robin January 2016 (has links)
In product manufacturing, assembly approximately represents 50% of the total work hours. Therefore, an efficient and fast assembly system is crucial to get competitive advantages at the global market and have the right product quality. Today, the verification of the assembly system is mostly done by utilizing software based simulation tools even though limitations have been identified. The purpose of this thesis is to identify when the use of additive manufacturing technology could be used in assessing the feasibility of the assembly system design. The research questions were threefold. First, identifying limitations that are connected with the used assembly simulation tools. Secondly, to investigate when additive manufacturing can act as a complement to these assembly simulations. Finally, to develop a framework that will assist the decision makers when to use additive manufacturing as a complement to assembly simulations. The researchers used the method of case study combined with a literature review. The case study collected data from semi-structured interviews, which formed the major portion of the empirical findings. Observations in a final assembly line and the additive manufacturing workshop provided valuable insights into the complexity of assembly systems and additive manufacturing technologies. In addition, document studies of the used visualization software at the case company resulted in an enhanced understanding of the current setting. The case study findings validate the limitations with assembly simulations described in theory. The most frequent ones are related to visibility, positioning, forces needed for the assembly operator, and accessibility between different parts. As both theory and case study findings are consistent in this respect, simulation engineers should be conscious of when to find other methods than simulation for designing the assembly system. One such alternative method is the utilization of additive manufacturing. The thesis outlines a number of situations where additive manufacturing indeed could act as a complement to assembly simulation. The authors argue that the results and findings to a large degree are applicable to other industries as the automotive sector is very global and competitive in nature and encompasses a large variety of complex assembly operations. A structured framework was also developed that could act as a decision support. The framework takes into account three dimensions that are crucial for the decision; (1) the assembly simulation limitation, (2) the context of the assembly and which parts are involved and (3) the possible limitations of additive manufacturing in the specific context. This impartial decision framework could help companies with complex assembly systems to know when to use additive manufacturing, as well as for which parts and subparts additive manufacturing is applicable. To increase the longevity of the decision framework, new improvements of assembly simulation tools and additive manufacturing technologies, respectively, should be incorporated in the framework.

Materialkarakterisering av AM-material : En undersökning av 3D-skrivet rostfritt stål / Characterisation of AM-Materials : A study of 3D-printed stainless steel

Ahmadifakhr, Saman, Backer-Meurke, Fredrik, Caliskan, Emina, Johansson, Isabell, Lundsten, Petter, Piitulainen, Timo, Rashid, Akar January 2016 (has links)

Mitrovich, Arandjel January 2016 (has links)
Denna studie undersöker hur unga transpersoner representeras i media, närmare bestämt inom genren reality tv.

0-Hz-IF FSK/AM Sub-Carrier Demodulator on a 6U-VME-Card

Weitzman, Jonathan M. 10 1900 (has links)
International Telemetering Conference Proceedings / October 28-31, 1996 / Town and Country Hotel and Convention Center, San Diego, California / Aerospace Report No. TOR-0059(6110-01)-3, section 1.3.3 outlines the design and performance requirements of SGLS (Space Ground Link Subsystem) services. GDP Space Systems has developed a single card slot FSK (Frequency Shift Keying)/AM (Amplitude Modulation) demodulator. An application of this service is the US Air Force Satellite Command and Ranging System. The SGLS signal is tri-tone-FSK, amplitude modulated by a modified triangle wave at half the data rate. First generation FSK/AM demodulators had poor noise performance because the signal tones were filtered and processed at IF frequencies (65, 76 and 95 kHz). Second generation demodulators suffer from "threshold" due to non-linear devices in the signal path before the primary noise filtering. The GDP Space Systems demodulator uses a 0-Hz- IF topology and avoids both of these shortcomings. In this approach, the signal is first noncoherently down converted to baseband by linear devices, then it is filtered and processed. This paper will discuss the GDP 0-Hz-IF FSK/AM (SGLS) demodulator.

Elizabeth Catlett's I Am the Negro Woman: Emerging from the Margins

Gottwald, Margaret 29 April 2011 (has links)
This art historiographical study focuses on African American artist Elizabeth Catlett’s linocut series I Am the Negro Woman, composed of fifteen images and executed in 1947 while Catlett was a visiting artist at the Taller de Graphica Popular in Mexico City. The series was exhibited shortly thereafter at the Barnett Aden Gallery in Washington, D.C., only to be largely marginalized by the art historical discourse of the following twenty-five years; however, during the Civil Rights Movement, a renewed interest in Catlett and her works began to develop. Later Feminist and Post-colonial art historians, seeking to widen the narrow mid-twentieth century canon, incrementally began to address these images in accordance with their respective interests, expanding the scholarship and increasing the exhibition of the series. The reputation of these images continues to grow, moving I Am the Negro Woman out of the margins of the art historical discourse into a more valued and recognized position.
