Klavírní spolupráce. Specifické umění klavírní hry / Piano accompaniment. The specific art of piano playing

Papežová Erlebachová, Marie January 2021 (has links)
This thesis focuses on the topic of piano accompaniment, which is an essential and beautiful part of piano playing. This field demands from the pianist a specific approach, which is a subject and core of many study programmes throughout the world. The aim of the first part of this thesis is to map the evolution as well as the current state of knowledge in the field of piano accompaniment using scientific literature on the subject as well as curricula of study programmes obtained from universities in central Europe, where piano accompaniment is taught as a major study course. A strong correlation has been established based on this research between theory in scientific literature on the subject and the current practice of piano accompaniment education in central Europe. The aim of the second part of this thesis is to expand further the level of knowledge in scientific literature, which is insufficient mainly in the accompaniment of solo musical instruments. For this reason, the second part of the thesis focuses on the specific problems in piano accompaniment of musical instrument groups, i.e. string instruments, woodwind instruments and brass instruments. For these three groups case studies have been created, which examine the specific characteristics of the musical instruments in relation to piano...

Critical care nursing students' experience of clinical accompaniment in open distance learning (ODL) : a phenomenological perspective

Moleki, Maria Mabibiti 11 1900 (has links)
patients and their families. The purpose of the study was firstly, to explore and interpret the meaning of the experiences of critical care nursing students about clinical accompaniment in open distance learning (ODL). This aspect has not been researched before and as such, there is no empirical data about the clinical accompaniment of the critical care-nursing students in ODL. Secondly, to develop guidelines for facilitation of clinical accompaniment in critical care nursing in ODL. A qualitative hermeneutic phenomenological study was conducted. Non-probability purposive sampling was used to select participants to provide information about clinical accompaniment in ODL. Data was obtained through in-depth interviews supplemented by field notes compiled during fieldwork. The study findings revealed that participants regard relationships and communication as important for clinical accompaniment. The distance factor inherent in distance learning was problematic for student’s motivation and support. The presence and visibility of the lecturer was pivotal for the students. Of importance also were the relationships with the managers and colleagues. The perception of participants was that managers of clinical facilities were not as readily accessible as would have been the lecturer. Although negative experiences were described, paradoxically these experiences seemed to have empowered the student to develop survival skills, patience and assertiveness to take action on how to deal with the situation. From the findings the researcher was able to develop guidelines the implementation of which, is hoped to ensure effective clinical accompaniment of critical care nursing students in ODL. / Health Studies / D. Student nurses' experiences of their clinical accompaniment

Mogale, Lesego C. 08 1900 (has links)
An exploratory, descriptive qualitative design was used to describe and explore how the students experienced their clinical accompaniment in a specific programme. The researcher conducted a tape recorded interview to a 14 individual students, who voluntarily agreed to participate in the study, transcription followed, then data analysis was done following the steps as described by De Vos, Srydom, Fouché and Delport (2005:334) citing Creswell (1998:142) where open coding leads to themes and subthemes. From the findings of this study it was discovered that the students experienced dissatisfaction in terms of their development of clinical skills to competence as they were not given an opportunity due to negative circumstances around their training. Recommendations were made to improve clinical accompaniment of student nurses for all involved so that the student nurses acquire clinical skills, knowledge and values. / Health Studies / M.A. (Health Studies)

Heroes Are Born Then Made

Miesak, Edward 05 1900 (has links)
Heroes Are Born Then Made is a theatre piece involving live actors on stage, and live music originating from an orchestra pit. The script and music is original. The music is meant to literally depict actions and emotions on stage whether the actors are present or not. The duration of the entire production is about two and one-half hours long. Six main actors are used with additional walk-ons. Sixteen musicians are required to make up the orchestra which is organized into a woodwind quartet, a brass trio, a string quartet, a piano, and a percussion quartet. The play is based on the author's conception of how people tend to treat each other when someone is caught at a disadvantage. Specifically it is a depiction of the conflict involved when the minor characters discover that the main character is trying to do something quite different from their definition of "normal."

The Development of the Piano Solo Concerto from Its Beginning to the Twentieth Century, with a List of Published Concertos

Hendrix, Jack W. (Jack Wheeler) 08 1900 (has links)
Every pianist at one time or another hopes to study and perform at least one piano concerto. In addition to the pleasure which will be derived from the study and performance, the student's musical growth will be greatly enhanced. In this survey and study of the general development of the piano solo concerto, the goal is to broaden the understanding of what the concerto is and what it means.

Expressive Collaborative Music Performance via Machine Learning

Xia, Guangyu 01 August 2016 (has links)
Techniques of Artificial Intelligence and Human-Computer Interaction have empowered computer music systems with the ability to perform with humans via a wide spectrum of applications. However, musical interaction between humans and machines is still far less musical than the interaction between humans since most systems lack any representation or capability of musical expression. This thesis contributes various techniques, especially machine-learning algorithms, to create artificial musicians that perform expressively and collaboratively with humans. The current system focuses on three aspects of expression in human-computer collaborative performance: 1) expressive timing and dynamics, 2) basic improvisation techniques, and 3) facial and body gestures. Timing and dynamics are the two most fundamental aspects of musical expression and also the main focus of this thesis. We model the expression of different musicians as co-evolving time series. Based on this representation, we develop a set of algorithms, including a sophisticated spectral learning method, to discover regularities of expressive musical interaction from rehearsals. Given a learned model, an artificial performer generates its own musical expression by interacting with a human performer given a predefined score. The results show that, with a small number of rehearsals, we can successfully apply machine learning to generate more expressive and human-like collaborative performance than the baseline automatic accompaniment algorithm. This is the first application of spectral learning in the field of music. Besides expressive timing and dynamics, we consider some basic improvisation techniques where musicians have the freedom to interpret pitches and rhythms. We developed a model that trains a different set of parameters for each individual measure and focus on the prediction of the number of chords and the number of notes per chord. Given the model prediction, an improvised score is decoded using nearest-neighbor search, which selects the training example whose parameters are closest to the estimation. Our result shows that our model generates more musical, interactive, and natural collaborative improvisation than a reasonable baseline based on mean estimation. Although not conventionally considered to be “music,” body and facial movements are also important aspects of musical expression. We study body and facial expressions using a humanoid saxophonist robot. We contribute the first algorithm to enable a robot to perform an accompaniment for a musician and react to human performance with gestural and facial expression. The current system uses rule-based performance-motion mapping and separates robot motions into three groups: finger motions, body movements, and eyebrow movements. We also conduct the first subjective evaluation of the joint effect of automatic accompaniment and robot expression. Our result shows robot embodiment and expression enable more musical, interactive, and engaging human-computer collaborative performance.

Cartografias da "Excepcionalidade" : para uma (re)invenção das práticas de cuidado /

Carregari, Júlio César. January 2002 (has links)
Abstract: This work concretizes itself trough the encounters accomplished with five students from Assis' APAE in the São Paulo state. As strategy of construction of the relationships, we used the Therapeutic Accompaniment and Groups, understanding them as devices of production of subjetivation processes. Whenever we produced with our work the visibility of the lines of force presents in our encounters, the cartographies were also drawn and constituted here, evidencing the regime of "Excepcionality" that the five participants of our research are living, bounded to the guardian space of APAE or of the family, establishing with them treatment relationships. Thus, whenever these cartographies acted in our relationship, tried to produce, strategically, a deviation toward other lines of force entered in game to the possible the composition of new cartographies. This event took us to draw another relationship form, the friendship and of the care, trough an immanence plan that passed to offert us the sustentability of others narratives that had as reference the own subject, in a belongings' relationship to himself and to the world. / Mestre

Entre laços e desenlaces: a constituição de uma experiência de acompanhamento escolar / Not informed by the author

Silva, Fernanda Dias da 29 January 2018 (has links)
The subject of this research is the development of an experience in the field of School Accompaniment of a child with disabilities. Even though its relevance has increased in recent years, it is a relatively new field and therefore does not have extensive bibliography, although there has been an increse in the number of studies in this field due to the latest changes in Brazilian laws regarding these cases, that turned the discussion about the School Accompaniment increasingly essential and urgent. Through an analysis of School Accompaniment and using the cartographic method, the reports carried out throughout the entire period of work in elementary school of a private school in São Paulo, were organized in a narrative format that highlights moments of the experience of greater tension, power and that raised questions. The aim was to give visibility to and discuss about the impasses, ambiguities and obstacles in the process of school inclusion, as well as to promote reflexions about possible changes and interventions that may facilitate work within the school environment and with children with disabilities. The discussions point to the power of School Accompaniment in order to promote the recognition and strengthening of the child with disabilities to confront and transform the attitudinal barriers present in the school environment
