Med denna underökning ville vi pröva en hypotes om att antalet proteser i ett givet land i Af- rika påverkar antalet protester i angränsande länder, det vill säga en analys om geografisk när- het påverkar antalet protester i grannländerna mellan åren 1997 – 2015. Tidigare studier av exempelvis Arabiska våren har nämnt internetanvändning som en tänkbar faktor vid sprid- ningen av protester. För att ytterligare pröva uppkomsten av den typen av sociala fenomen använde vi i första steget en metod som mäter en variabels påverkan på sina geografiska grannar. Resultatet visade ett svagt stöd för att geografisk närhet påverkar antalet protester i länder i Afrika under åren 2000 och 2006, men i efterföljande steg kunde vi inte hitta något stöd för att våra övriga utvalda förklaringsvariabler (demokratisering, internetanvändning, BNP, korruptionsindex samt populationsnivå) samverkade under dessa år. Detta antyder att metoden i sig fortfarande kan vara användningsbar, men att vi helt enkelt inte valde ut rätt samverkande variabler i vårt test.

ABSTRACT The main objective of this master's thesis is to investigate the relationship between cash crop exports to the European Union from Ghana and its impact on the economic performance of Ghana. It is also aimed at investigating the aftermath of the European Union Directive 2000/36/EC on the Economic development of Ghana by investigating and observing the trend in GDP to access the economic performance of Ghana by looking at cocoa export to the European Union. The study then provides an insight of Ghana and European Union trade relation and then also an overview of Ghana's cash crops with focus on cocoa. It is followed with comparison of the trend in economic growth before and after the implementation of European Union Directive. Econometric and Statistical analysis of secondary data from sources such as International Financial Statistics, International Monetary Fund and the World Bank countries indicators is done. This is followed by analysis of the results, discussion of the results and recommendations based on the results. A brief summary of the thesis is given in the conclusion.

The subject of this thesis is a summary and description of the theoretical approaches in the construction of the composite indicator and food security in selected countries of Central Africa, with a focus on the Central African Republic. Analytical part contains a statistical analysis of the issue of food security, along with graphical and tabular presentation of the results. The last part - the draft, contains recommendations and suggestions for improving the food security of Central African States and proposed measures to improve the food security of returnees and internally displaced persons.

The thesis discusses the construction of the composite indicator and its interpretation for the region of West Africa. Theoretical part describes the characteristics and pillars of sustainable development. Another chapter focuses on the characteristics of a general methodology of the construction of a composite indicator. The analytical part consists of the processing of the acquired data and evaluating the status of the countries in the West Africa region Thesis is concluded with recommendations leading to the sustainability of the region of West Africa.

The subject of this master thesis is to morphologically and molecularly characterize Ceratomyxa species (Myxozoa) found in clinid fish from the tip of South Africa. Molecular characterisation of those species was done based on SSU rDNA and morphological structure of those parasites was examined. It was determined whether some of morphologically identical parasites represent in fact, different species. Phylogenetic relationships between different species in connection with their natural habitats were analysed and a correlation between population structure of Ceratomyxa species and their host species was discussed.

Studien syftar till att granska tidigare forskning om barnäktenskap genom en narrativ forskningsöversikt. Uppgiften för uppsatsen är att genomföra en första sammanställning av forskningsläget med följande frågor: vad orsakar barnäktenskap och vilka konsekvenser har barnäktenskap. För att begränsa studien behandlas endast referee bedömda tidskriftsartiklar som rör förhållandena i Afrika söder om Sahara. Forskningsöversikten domineras av verk som utforskar negativa konsekvenser av och orsaker till barnäktenskap på unga offer såväl som på familjer, samhället och ekonomin. De negativa effekterna av barnäktenskap på flickor utforskas genom fem sammanvävda teman i litteraturen som börjar med negativa effekter på flickors hälsa och fortsätter att undersöka negativa effekter på psykologisk utveckling, mänskliga rättigheter, flickors ekonomiska överlevnad samt samhällseffekter av barnäktenskap.
